Empty parking lots surround a largely empty Pigeon Forge Parkway in Tennessee. Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), businesses and tourist attractions have closed, leaving behind these views of the area without people.

I live less than a mile off the Parkway. This actually brought tears to my eyes. I don't think I will cuss out tourists anymore after this.

First went there when I was 16, now 64. Been married 45 years. My wife and family go there 1 to 3 times a year. Never missed a year. Will be going there this year if possible.

My ancestors are all from here and I grew up in Knoxville. This is incredibly sad. As for no cars, people can still go for drives and cause no exposures. Taking drives is an old Southern tradition. Please don't let it be lost. I still take a drive daily. It is good for your emotional health and fresh air and sunshine ward off depression and anxiety.

EJ Turpin I was just thinking I would call the police station and find out if it was still OK to drive through town. Driving helps my anxiety so much.

@@sugarcoma82 In this day and age that's probably the best approach. In my day and my approach remains if it ain't breaking God's law go ahead and do it and if it bothers somebody and ask forgiveness later. So if it was me I would just go ahead and do it. Take care of yourself

Up here in Michigan the wife and I every Sunday since this shelter in place started will take a 2-3 hr drive around the Amish countryside.. don't stop or talk to anyone..very peaceful

The place has really changed. No one will agree but I prefer the Pigeon Forge of the '70s, it seemed warmer and more inviting and quaint.

N2tech I was born in 82 so I don’t really know the Pigeon Forge you’re talking about but I can only imagine! I do love Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and spend a lot of time there since my parents live there but it’s pretty much just a tourist trap and I don’t really enjoy it as much as I did back when we first moved here in 1998.

As do I prefer the Old Days ! I was married in 1975, I. Mountains & spent honeymoon in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge Was not So Commercial Then the Old Days , Were the Best of Times 😉💗

This is something I can’t even wrap my head around but at the sane time I think it is giving a lot of us a wake up call just how quickly things can change.We as Americans go to fast and don’t stop to enjoy the little things.But this virus is serious and has taken to many lives.May God bless each and every one of you

This is super misleading and inaccurate. I live in pigeon forge as well as work at an essential business and there are still people driving on the parkway and out doing things. We might have lost tourists due to tourism attractions closing but there are still thousands of people on vacation here and staying in cabins. But it is no ghost town that’s for sure. I still drive everyday to and from work along with more traffic on the parkway and wears valley road.

We were coming down the first week of April but would not have been a good idea..The Cabin owner on VRBO said she has been calling renters and Canceling their weeks for them because she knows not everybody would make the right decision. I know not all cabin owners are in position to do that.

This makes me sad my favorite vacation destination where my wife and I had our honeymoon 2 years ago and was planning on coming back in Aug but due to virus well prob have to wait till next summer to see this booming town so beautiful, full of life, laughter, fun, completely empty and shut down it breaks my heart I truly hope when this virus is gone and everything opens back up that it'll b the same as when we were there with all the laughs and fun hope it doesn't suffer because of our economy

Yes sad but Pigeon Forge Will Rise Again ! I Miss My Mountains the Terrible Fires few years ago broke my 💔 we have gone every year , since my son was a year old , Smoky Mountains , hold a very Close i Place in my 💗 I was married there in 1975, My Son too was married In. The Mountains , not a Chapel in October 10th, 2010 , When all this Terrible Pandemic is long gone , 🙏 1st place , as we have Every year , will be to the Mountains & Pigeon Forge God Bless everyone , Stay Safe Cathy nashville TN

My uncle lives there and when we go to visit traffic is bumper to bumper takes about 45 minutes to get from one end of town to the other I never thought I would see it like this it's crazy times right now

Just FYI, The Wilderness Resort and Tanger Outlets are in Sevierville, not Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge doesn’t begin until the river by The Apple Barn.

This is terribly misleading. Don't know when this video was taken, but it is not representative of what it looks like here on a daily basis. I would go as far as to suggest that you'd still have to look both ways if you want to cross the parkway. You'd think there are no cars on the parkway from this video. I've been here every day and there is not a time like this the entire day, any day of the week. That said, yes, the parking lots are largely empty.

it doesnt seem like any place you go to is alive any more ? a wonderfull place that was so full of life ? is so empty? thanks for caring to do the drone videos ? we cant go there so this helps us to see what it is like? you know its ashame you can go to the grocery store or a gas station ? but you cant go to these places? what happens if we go to the grocery store and get the virus?

Exactly what I was thinking!! I live in the area too and I haven't seen it like it's being portrayed in this video at all. It IS unusually slow and quiet for this time of year...but I don't think this drone video is accurate. There's ALWAYS a car on the Parkway, or in a parking lot or something. And now, there's more police presence here. I didn't see ANYTHING.

It is so sad to see Pigeon Forge, along with Gatlinburg and Sevierville, empty with not hardly any people out there. Yes, there is a few, but compared with the traffic they usually have, wow there is nobody out there. Go into Tanger and there is no one parked in the lots. And places along Parkway, nobody. Absolutely nobody is there. And now, I understand that McDonalds in Gatlinburg has closed. WOW!!! I’ve read the comments that have been written below. The majority of the people are sad and thinks like I do. Granted there are a few who live in Pigeon Forge who are disagreeing with us, saying that there are cars and people out there. Well, that’s our prerogative.

I'm sorry, but something is not right about this video. Not any cars? Not ONE SINGLE car? Anywhere? There are plenty of essential businesses (restaurants, gas stations, etc.) in that part of town. None of them are open? No one is even driving through this area going TO their job? Really? I call bogus.

Sarah Shepherd . It’s photoshop, was just in pigeon forge few days ago. Yes lot of tourist places are closed. But there is so many vehicles on the road you wouldn’t think there was a stay at home order. Lot of restaurants are open just take out only . People walking around like any normal day .

@@mw4mpr i have live here all my life. i was born and raised here . yes its has slowed down alot and i am sooo glad it has . but its not like this video is showing by no means ... its sad its like this. but hopefully in days to come it will get back to kinda normal. it will never get back to like it was . this is something that none of us will ever forget ...I love it here this is my Home ...never lived anywhere else ..The Good Lord is Watching over us ...and he will take care of this i believe that will all my Heart
