This was a great review SirDutchie, completely agree with everything you said. I would add one other good thing on this game is the steam workshop integration, being able to share your creations in the workshop and seeing what others have built, there is some seriously inspiring creations out there.
Lol, it brought me here too. I'm gonna get it now because this definitely seems worth 10 bucks. It feels a lot better than the 60 bucks I spent on No Man's Sky at least.
Nice Explanation of the game. Couple things I wanted to add 1. Trade Systems have been upgraded allowing you to boost your start game progress faster in exchange for helping larger factions 2. The Community that play this game are so friendly, I personally have spent hours digging out a base with friends creating lasting memories. 3. The feeling you get on building a CV and warping to a planet is a great sense of pride. Just be sure to take note of your surroundings so you don't end up getting shot up by faction defences otherwise you will be left stranded in the middle of space. (Scary feeling) ** I felt really alone in the depths of space.** In short if you like a game that challenges you with endless hours of re-playability with a dev team committed to game improvements this is the space survival you have been wanting. The game even lets you walk around a flying space craft and have a beverage while looking out at the beautiful atmosphere. Why not take a picture while your at it.
I have been playing Empyrion Galactic Survival since 2016 when it was in Early Access. The Dev's have been updating the game regularly and now it has grown into something incredible! It essentially is a survival game with focus on building stuff using resources and researching technology with a lot of science and science fiction thrown in. Set in the future, you and large team are visiting a system some 10-20 light years away. There is a problem and when the game starts, you are entering the planet's atmosphere on an escape pod. You crash on a chosen planet (there are 20+ planet types!) and only have some essential items. Essentially you have no contact with your team, there are not in this planet, you have no ship, no nothing! You just have to tell this to yourself - like in the movie - The Martian “I'm going to have to science the ♥♥♥♥ out of this to get out of this planet!!” And then your adventure starts. All alone in the planet. You gather basic resources - Stone, Iron, Copper, Silicon. Then u gather some wood, Fruits and all kinds of Alien veggies. You craft a personal constructor and a tent and survive the first few nights. The planets the moons and scenes are just spectacular as you get used to your new alien world. When starting the game, you can choose among many types of planets - Temperate, Desert, Snow planet, Swamp planet, Jungle planet, Ocean, Sandy and so many. Gradually you explore the planet on foot and build a hover vessel and its components. You actually create components from resources like - Ground Repulser Engines, Side, back and forward thrusters, fuel tanks, oxygen tanks etc for the Hover Craft. Creating a vehicle is very satisfying experience. Exploring this beautiful world with a the silent whirring of the electric hover engine, powered by promethuem fuel cells (which u mine) - is superb. You feel like you are alone in the this large alien planet. But you are not alone. There are POI/Ancient buildings and some areas where there are corporations who have set up trading services. I love the exploration aspect of this game. As you explore, you find an ancient civilization and a primitive peaceful alien race called the Talon (Green Area - there is a back story to their history). You also find a Multi System Giant Corporation called the Polaris (Orange area) - you can visit them and trade and get info on where you are etc. The Red faction called the Zirax is the hostile enemy species. If you enter their area, automated drones will chase you! There are also other POI's from a pink faction called the Legacy - which have some of the scariest sound effects i have ever experienced in any game. Looting those POI's and fighting the enemies is incredibly nerve wracking but satisfying. Apart from the surviving, ship building, the game becomes an FPS once you are inside a POI. The shooting, the sci-fi guns and enemies makes this very satisfying! As am riding my hover craft, some times the game just blows my mind away with so many varied and spectacular views. Shows how freaky, alien worlds will look to the Human eye in the future. It is a beautiful moment. Then as u gather more resources you build a base. I build simple bases using cement blocks and other materials. You need fuel tank, power generator, fuel cell based and solar power. Hydroponics to grow veggies etc. But i have seen other builders build some gigantic bases! I'm more of an explorer rather than a builder. So a simple base will do for me! So once u have a base, you can focus on getting some information from the alien species on any human contacts and then find clues about where your fellow humans are. The next step is to build a small jet aircraft called a small vessel and visit the moons of the planet to get more resources like Cobalt, Erestrum, Neodynium, Sathium etc. Once you have a small vessel, you can explore your solar system and visit other planets in the system using warp engines. Once you have enough resources, you can should build a capital vessel to explore other systems. There are 50+ planet systems and a galaxy to explore with an interesting side story/lore of the universe! The scope of this game is incredible! On top of that there is an active community of scenario builders and modders out there, who create some phenomenal stuff. I would highly recommend a scenario called the 'Reforged Eden', which changes a lot of gameplay mechanics, improves the AI, adds a compelling storyline and quests to the game! I can't play vanilla game anymore as i'm used to Reforged Eden! I will forever play this game, as there is no game that gives me a sense of wonder, accomplishment and joy as Empyrion. Hats of to the developers and community of modders and players for keeping this hidden gem going! Highly recommended!
I once smashed my motorcycle into the ocean at *juuuuust* the right angle, so that when I hit the water I flew off my motorcycle and mach 3 and propelled myself into space, where i quickly suffocated and died...best game ever *10/10 would ride again*
Entertaining and balanced review , very well done (I have 3000+ hours in this, on HWS multiplayer server) It's worth mentioning that the Faction system is really strong, and the PVP potential outshines even all this PVE action
So can you hire crews for your bases and capital ships or is it all sort of...empty? And at some point can you automate mining and other resource gathering?
Very good review video, thanks... been on the fence with this game for a while. Think the building possibilities might sway me.. Wish there was more character customization tho.
I'd give it some more time :). Last update made it possible to equip different armors and such so it wouldn't be too crazy if upcoming updates would put in more possibilities in the character customization area.
Empyrion - Galactic Survival my favorite in the Open World Games I love, 2401 hours of playing time is not enough. It goes so far that I turn with empyrion "short story Movie" (Machinima) and show them on my channel. I recommend this game.
loving it, 200 hours into the game. The best part is building your base and then build your capital ship and explore the universe. Building your ship from scratch is a little hard for the beginer so you can just construct one from comunity blueprints and modify it as you see fit. Its awesome.
Well thought out crafting system and game as a whole. Don't know if I have ever had a game question to continue or not, with how hostile things seem to exponentially appear out of no where. Like, I can only relate what happened to me, as tho a tornado came through the small base I have been struggling to construct, then the tornado stays in one place and calls on animals reinforcements, coupled with the laggy controls, and now having to salvage ever single bit of the base I made, with the original multi tool, just to look forward to having everything again, destroyed and then having to be salvaged, if I am lucky enough to make it back. Oh before that, I fell into a peice of non rendered ground, and when I moved forward to stop the falling loop, it broke my leg. Also, after salvaging a wreckage I found, the ground no longer renders properly, so I end up walking under the grass. It's also to the point where, I might as well go into the wild and make a life, in real life, as it would not be as hard as the game lol
This is one of the best games I have played. It have all the elements of GTA5 kind of play with missions that you discover yourself. It have good FPS characterstics. Then it also have the inexaustible list of items that can be used in infinite ways to create the hovercraft, plane, capital ship, house, bunglow space station etc-2. Just name it. It is the only game I left playing 1yr back. But whenever I think of playing any PC game. This one is right on the top. The single player in itself so much entertaining that you don't even feel the need of multiplayer. But then it also have a preety engaging multiplayer mode. Also, the developers are so fast in updating and introducing new features that it feels that they don't do anything else. It's what no man sky should have been in the first place. The only difference here is that. Every planet, moon etc in this is well thought out and have a particular set of envirment variables that makes it challanging every time you play it.
Hm, this sounds right up my alley. I tend to jump on to survival early access a bit too hastily, but my faith in Subnautica wasn't misplaced, and I have a good feeling about this one too, so I think I'll take the plunge. Besides, the versatility has my creative streak sparked :D
As if now we are in 9.3 , I have more than 14000 hours in this game now , for me its the building , the game gets better and better after each update and the update are still comming around once a mnth with big number updates (like 8.xx to 9 ) normally being the only 1,s than need a full wipe and restart , the bugs also are getting less and less , AI is getting better, weapons have kick back now, so yea , 14k in and Im still playing , still worth a buy even today :)
Nikki Sapp yes, you need certain things though but I don't see why you would want to. If you and your ship goes bye bye so does your friend or vice versa
All vehicles hovercraft, small vessels and capital vessel's have options to put in passenger seats, for other players and to answer why you might need someone else in your vehicle is to manually operate a weapon turret sure they are auto if no one is operating them. However if you want to shoot at something specific then you cant go past manually operated turret. you can put a lot of turrets on your hovercraft/capital vessel. like plasma turrets, pulse lasers turrets, rockets turrets mini-gun turrets, cannon turrets, artillery turrets and so on. (around 4 to 6 of each type of weapon on a vessel (some exceptions ) Also transporting the troops in multi-player to assault an alien base is an option in a hover vessel/small vessel plus its more fun to go as a group and if your co-oping then building a large capital vessel it's easier as everyone is contributing to collecting the materials to make it. One note if you get out of the passenger seat while the craft is moving you get left behind. (so don't do it, unless you feel like walking lol)
Empyrion was fun for 200 hours for me on a multiplayer server. Then they updated the game more and more and it required better hardware, which was the reason I stopped playing it. It's probably a good thing? Still, even right now the graphics still make the game look like it's the rendering engine for games using pre-rendered graphics around the year 2000.
So I have spent close to a week playing now, and put of the blue I got a warning about my base being attacked, and as they are blowing up everything I have made, raptors come for the first time, so I am getting shot at, eaten, and am not able to get my backpack back. So I am stuck with nothing, and no ability to get what I had already made. Like I do enjoy the game. But with laggy response which has been prevalent even on low settings, the game has gotten to a point where it's like, why play. I can't get the guns I have made, no base to go back to, and a backpack that is defended by drones and raptors. So it's to the point of me asking why continue playing, if animals I have not seen once while exploring the planet, pop up as I am trying to respond, and all the work put into what I made is gone. If this is the easy planet, I don't even want to put in the effort for any harder planeta. I am still in the tutorial. Maybe it's just that it came with out notice. So what I have learned is, don't bother building a base, or put any time into something, just run around ignore a large part of the game, because it becomes impossible to progress past. I realize I may be complaining, but this sort of thing, is exactly what makes people no longer have any enjoyment in a game. I still can't find the motorbike with got lost in the long poorly rendered grass.
Bought the game last weekend with a group of friends, playing on a pve/pvp server and man, I've already logged 32 hours over the course of the week. I'm addicted so much I've let my ffxiv sub lapse and I don't even care. Lol
Much better, looks better, more content, AI is less op, new guns and gun animations, new mechanics like storage controllers and volume, enemy alien factions can now like you if you kill their enemies and they have cities on the planets
It is time for another review! Now...the map is huge. Tons of systems. No man`s sky is a small game now. those who play Minecraft cannot complain about the graphics.
I hope you like it...I personally am starting to run out of things to be interested in. The survival aspects are there...but the game is still VERY buggy, no real incentive to do anything besides PVP( which is complete ass). Plus the building is amazing...but no real purpose to any of it... people will go out of their way to build HUGE bases, complete with personal quarters, ships yards, the whole nine yards...but considering everyone just solo plays...it quickly dawns on you that your basically just building all this shit for no reason. It needs a major update on content...you can explore POIs, grind materials, build, or do PVP...and that is literally it.
@@raidenthekat2444 there's also scenarios that you can find on the workshop, and currently they're working on a better event handling system for scenarios to be more manageable and what have you. And supposedly they're working on a zirax base attack system where they can take out your core and replace it with their own to make it a bit more challenging, perhaps in alpha 10 at some point
@@raidenthekat2444 the youtuber Spanj does a lot of empyrion videos and he just put out a video about speculation of alpha 10, you should check it out if you're interested.
There is no real incentive to work together. HWS is a good multiplayer server, and they have lots of extra features. But like previously mentioned..there is no incentive to work together. After the initial glamour of building your base, hover vessel, small vessel and captial ship wear off your left with a few options...explore..which is probably my favourite part... participate in PVP..which is arguably just terrible.(laggy, buggy mess). Or just continue building things that never really serve a purpose...i.e you build an entire base, complete with visitors quarters, medical bay ECT...and considering everyone just solo plays..they serve no real purpose. It would be really cool to see a server set up where everyone works together on one base or multiple, fights off drone attacks, and maybe you can do things like supply runs to outer colonies and bases. But as off right now..it's just a bunch of dedicated players that spend their time doing PvP..so if your not into that...there is no real end game.
a review requires actual examples of some of the stuff you are listing, such as enemies, building and so on. Not just gameplay of you shooting into a corner. Your video was going so well until you obviously couldnt be bothered reviewing the game anymore.
God i hate when games add survival shit like having to eat food. I play games to escape the menial tasks of life like eating, drinking ect yet cool af looking games add it in and it just ruins it for me, i can't be bothered to feed myself in a video game It'd be so much better if you just fly around and explore space and planets without the surviving elements. If you have enough time to play a game and hunt for food then you have far too much time on your hands.
The differences are superficial. Ignore the polish and under the skin they are no different. But whatever makes you happy makes you happy, I couldn't care less lol
really there very different games. SE is an engineering simulator, while EGS is a survival/building game and is the superior game. because that number of things you can do over SE and the laarrrrrge number of blocks EGS has compared to the relatively small amount in SE, plus there is trading, a huge number of weapon variety and a wide variety of POI's and base to attack
