I KNOW SHE’S A GIRL NOW this was filmed before my wife taught my how to read and I didn’t know the lore. #mtg #magicthegathering #mtgcommunity #cardgame
Having learned since the initial filming that Emrakul is female, I maintain my original ruling and will be attempting an exploratory Moon mission to find the Emrakussy.
See the middle figure on Shrine of the Forsaken Gods for how Emrakul appears in Jace's mind, when they have a telepathic conversation on Innistrad. While the Eldrazi are technically genderless, it seems the belief of Zendikar's inhabitants in the Eldrazi as gods have had an influence on her, and she accepts this female persona.
😂 mana? Elf's 😂. Turn 1 land and a elf Turn 2 play second land, tap elf summon 3 mana elf Turn 3 play third land and summon 5 mana elvish commander and spend all the mana 😂. Pray I don't have the elvish avatar and hex boots or you died 😂
I literally have a friend I’ve known since middle school who looked at a custom “30 Emrakuls” magic card that was just that but multiply everything by 30 and was like “oh my god this is the greatest thing ever”
To echo the flavor text of All Is Dust: "The emergence of the Eldrazi isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as you've already lived a fulfilling and complete life without regrets."
Nothing has lost me more friends than an old combo I used to run of It that betrays, ulamog the infinite gyre, and thraximundar for the added "fuck you gimme a creature"
I will say that the "shuffle into the deck" aspect of the titans isn't meant to be an upside but as a way to keep them from being reanimated, which would typically be the easiest way to cheat such a cost. Obviously not an aspect if they're in the command zone, but still.
Agree but at the same time, if you dont put him in your command zone and REALLY want to dig on your deck, you can go through it really fast without the fear of discarding something useful
There's a reason this card was completely banned in commander a month after release. And this was back in the day when the format had two separate ban lists, she annihilated her way onto both of them in just thirty days with a laundry list of war crimes.
"Anything above eight mana? Fuck mana, we doin crimes." As a 20 veteran of playing black decks, this is the most honest advice about mana bases I've ever heard.
@@superslash7254I have 24 elves so this land taps for 24. Also, each elf tap for one. Let me play this dude and now my elves tap for 3 and this land taps for 3k
My opponent: *plays emrakul with the biggest grin on their face. Their victory is assured. All that is left are my screams of agony* The brittle effigy on my side of the board:
This is some of the best MTG content being made right now, if not the best. The only videos that I will drop what I am doing to watch when I see it on my timeline
You can also target her with permanent's activated and triggered abilities once they're already on the battlefield. If you can find any that force opponents to sacrifice creatures, or better yet, allow you to exile, goodbye emrakul. -X bonuses and counters can also yeet her, and things like captivating crew can steal her. Funny thing you can do too, sandwurm convergence. Stop the jellyfish with a can of worms.
@@Existence27 All non-land cards are considered spells when you're casting them. However, once a creature, artifact, or enchantment is on the battlefield, it's a permanent and no longer treated as a spell.
@@pencilwatchesstuff791Assuming they aren’t running •Sigarda, Host of Herons •Tajuru Preserver •Tamiyo, Collector of Tales* which all have a static ability that reads: _”Spells and abilities your opponents control can’t cause you to sacrifice permanents.”_ *Tamiyo’s in particular also provides discard protection: _”Spells and abilities your opponents control can’t cause you to discard cards or sacrifice permanents.”_
My friend and I were talking about Emrakul and the other eldrazi titans. Honestly, if it wasn't for the annihilator trigger, she wouldn't be that bad because you can make people skip turns or extra turns so tolerable. But that attack trigger sends people back to the Stone Age. I was playing my colorless deck, and one of my friends was playing a deck. I find kind of annoying because of his commander and the artifacts he attaches to it. He basically killed any creature I put in play before that could do anything. I had already accepted my loss because I wasn't pulling anything to deal with his commander, but our friend basically handed me the win because he started blowing up my friends' artifacts and commander for me. So when it came to my turn, I was able to cast Emrakul to take my extra turn and swung out at him with only two creatures and my friends board went from a wincon to a person who joined midgame. Whoever came up with annihilator must have been on some shit because that is some of the most heinous shit I've ever seen
She is only protected from spells. If you can make yourself a permanent, you can get her! Believe in yourself. I wish to see a Xyris video, but I am glad to see that my top 2 MTG waifus have already been commented on by you (Sheoldred and Emrakul) keep up the great work!
I swear your accent is getting more and more egregious with each new one of these and I'm totally here for it. Waiting on Emeria's little brother Kozi.
Also worth mentioning that Emrakul’s graveyard shuffle ability happens regardless of where it came from, making it so that any degenerate decks looking to mill their entire graveyard for insane shenanigans can just run one copy of this and guarantee an effectively infinite deck for them to loop through over and over until you’re dead
My favorite combo is chormatic orarery with helm of the host you attach onto it by making it a creature with karhn the Creator to make an infinite mana and draw engine
Every time I am reminded of Emrakul's existence I have to stop and think to myself "Did they actually try to balance this card or did they print this entirely knowledgeable of how bonkers it is to have a card this powerful?" That mana cost is not a restriction, mana ramp exists any which way you look, that high mana requirement is the cost of doing business with Emrakul because the second that card hits the field the game is just over. Even tiny middle school me would look at this card and think one of my friends came up with that card and printed it out at home, no one card needs all that text on it when any one sentence on that card does so much on its own.
Did not see that coming in the end. Made me friggin chuckle pretty loudly. Have you tried casting Eldrazi Conscription on yourself? Maybe becoming one with the tentacled eldritch horrors from beyond all comprehension might help?
Yeah eldrazi are so fun to play against, good thing they're all space dust now. Would suck if they started making more of them through commander sets though, right?
This man is braver than most when it comes to the big eldrazi. I respect that and wish you luck. Just dont call the eldrazi "mommy" and we'll have no problems
My group runs no ban list and this was in an old deck, it's now in my Sarulf, which I'd love to see what he thinks about Sarulf as a commander, but one of my stepbrothers was running the deck and swung with emrakul, I cast a deflecting Palm cancelling the damage from the emrakul attack and killed him on accident. 😂 Btw, deflecting Palm doesn't target so it can affect the damage emrakul would deal on attack. Also, if things like this are a problem, run more board wipes, we got a million of em running around.
I still have my foil Emrakul I pulled out of a booster when Rise of the Eldrazi first launched, I love the look of utter disgust I get every time I she takes center stage
I have an illegal Eldrazi deck I play with my friends. This is my commander. And the worst bit is that I can play her for free. I can play any colorless card for free each turn.
My buddy has an eldrazi commander deck Emrakul isn't the commander but its one of the 99 and the colorless mana really is something to behold. Turn 3-4 he can just make like 10+ mana it's mildly horrifying.
I once grabbed him off the stack with the card Gather Specimens. My opponent still got the extra turn, but it ended up not mattering. He had a Jhoira of the Ghitu deck and had the good fortune of drawing this relatively early.
I cheat out Omniscience then cast her with Eldrazi Conscription, Grafted Exoskeleton, qnd Swiftfoot Boots attached. Now she's 29/29 with Trample, Hexproof, Haste, Infect, and an extra Annihilator 2.
The other members of this particular family tend to also have that 'shuffle the graveyard into your deck' line, so if you want a taste of that action without needing to use this assault on all things Good and Holy there you go.
No joke, back in the llorywyn days someone I used to be close to built a deck around this card and made me legitimately quit magic for years. Probably should mention I didn’t sideboard back then, but I still get an attitude every time I look at her.
1. Emmy is a girl 2. She has protection from colored spells not permanents (means instant and scorcers wont hit it but any trigger that happens AFTER will hit it like triggers from ETBs, abilities on any type of card even something like saga triggers from a ECD or binding of the old gods.) 3. She can absolutely get it from me
"Anything above 8 Mana? Fuck Mana we doing crimes." I love how we he takes all the high fantasy out of magic the gathering and just makes it sound like a Wall Street broker or an organized crime family taking a city by the balls 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'll admit. My sins here. I have summon this card in 1v1 40 card decks. Plenty of times. I have stolen many victories I did not deserve. However I love and savor each and every summon and victory.
Still the funiest legacy interaction is running Ashen Rider in your Goblin deck's sideboard. Opponent plays Show and Tell, puts in Emrakul. You put in Ashen Rider :D
Gonna need one of these for Ashaya, Soul of the Wild. I'm over here dropping Cultivator Colossus on turn 4 and making 16 spare mana, just waiting to hear what you have to say about it.
In the early days of Modern, I ran combo elves with Emmy as my win-con. Infinite turns, life and mana on turn 3. They were better times when I had no shame about committing forty straight minutes of crime at PTQs and GPQs to win the game 10 seconds after time on the round was called to stop going to a game 2. Now I can't stop caring about my opponent's feelings because commander has corrupted me and I've ditched so many brews that have this kind of combo :'(
I'm so mad about Emmy being banned. Not because I don't think it's warranted, like you said this shit is heinous. But because I pulled her when she came out and thought it would be a fun challenge to build a deck with her as the Commander. I finished that shit literally like the day before the ban happened. Next time I had the chance to play was after the ban and I learned of it because the table was like "Didn't you hear? Emrakul is banned."
Honestly ready to throw him in any of my decks not for anything on the top text but specifically for the graveyard shuffle as a massive f you to all the milling.
I tell you hwat, was my like 8th birthday, ripped open that Pegasus starter deck, saw the Relinquished/Thousand-eyes Restrict and started sweating, I knew even then...that I probably was never going to use it.
Truly an amazing video hahaha. If we got good ol' Emy featured in a vid that sure means that my boy Kozilek the great distortion is coming, right? Right??
Someone smugly attacked me with Emrakul, the Promised End to which I chump blocked with a 1/1 deathtouch bird. I may have taken 12 trample damage but wiping their look of superiority off was totally worth it.
