Emuwing Gullwing Window Installation in my Landcruiser 200 Series LC200 | Ep 1

In this video I begin the installation of the Emuwing windows in my Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series. The emuwing gullwing windows will allow me to access items in the rear of my Landcruiser that I have difficulty reaching from the tailgate area. This should greatly improve the usability of the rear cargo area in my Landcruiser. The first line of the instructions from the emuwing manufacturer tell you that you should contact a glazier to remove the window glass…and that’s it. There are no details on how someone can actually do this in their back yard. Never one to shy away from a challenge, I give the removal of this glass a crack (no pun intended) myself. Tune into episode 1 of this series to see if I am successful. Subsequent episodes will include the full installation of the emuwing windows and a 3 week dust filled outback trip test to see how they hold up to corrugated dust filled roads. Be sure to subscribe so that you do not miss any of that action!
Thanks for sharing your time and in your support of my channel. Tell your friends, share the love!

Thanks Greg, very very humbled by your comments mate. I am stoked with how it turned out as you will see over the coming episodes. Nice one. I’m on holiday but I still took time out from my eating and drinking to catch your vid. Awesome work- I admit I had a quiet bet with myself that you wouldn’t be able to get them in without removing the drawer system! Hope you can address the dust problem with equal aplomb. Congratulations on your RU-vid milestone. It’s great to see a local bloke doing well- even if he does have an Ontario accent!

Thanks so much for your kind words and taking the time to comment. I must admit that I put off purchasing these for months because I thought the drawers were going to have to come out and I really did not want to face that challenge. I was doing cartwheels when I actually got the trim off without having to pull the drawers out😂. By the time the next episode is released I will be on the dusty trials testing these out so I’ll keep you updated on how that turns out. I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams that the channel would get 1000 subscribers. I only hope that I am helping some people out and can save viewers some grief by learning from my mistakes. Let’s see what the next episode brings, I trust it will work ooooot😂😉👍.

Mate, the glass removal was not fun that’s for sure, but only because I had no idea what I was doing😂. Hopefully this will help others out that want to have a go. The results have exceeded my expectations as you will see in the coming episodes. Thanks for watching👍😎

Very well detailed video Terry, good on ya! I will be waiting impatiently for the next videos as I looked at this gull wings (amongst others options) for a very long time always humming and harring about the pros and the cons. You are very good installer and you pay attention to details deeply so I'm looking forward to hear your opinion on the product. Thanks

Thanks for your kind words Max and for taking the time to put your thoughts down. I too have heard good and bad regarding their sealing ability but decided to take the punt and trust that I could get them to work. Given that some people have no dust issues and rave about them, it leads me to believe that leaks are likely an installation issue. So I guess the conclusion here is that if mine do leak, I’m probably a crappy installer. If they don’t, I’ll chalk that up as a win. The next few episodes will be very telling. Keep the shiny side up Max, and thanks again.😎👍

My pleasure Steve. You are not alone mate, I have been wondering how to do this for some time as well. Finally just said “stuff it, I’ll give it a crack🤪”. It has all worked out in the end as you will see in the next couple of videos, but there were some head scratch moments that’s for sure! Hopefully I can save others from those moments. Thanks for watching and commenting Steve, I appreciate you taking the time to do that. Cheers👍😎

Thanks Leon, that is very kind of you to say. I do not monitise my channel and for that reason RU-vid has little motivation to recommend my content because they do not get any advertising revenue from anyone that watches my stuff. That's my theory anyway! Either that, or I have to admit that my content is crap, LOL. Go well mate, thanks again.

Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to share them mate. I’ll have to admit, there were a few times that I thought I would have little bitty pieces of glass everywhere as well. It worked out in the end however. Thanks again for watching mate, I appreciate it very much. Cheers😎👍

Just because it probable keeps you awake at night those little black tabs you cut off actually have a T shaped end on them so that by twisted them 90deg they come out of the slot They are used to keep that bit of trim under control when the air bags deploy Not that’s an issue now cause no one will ever sit back there again

Thanks Cameron, I appreciate your kind words. It took as much off as I could with a razor blade, and then thinners+rag+shit tonne of elbow grease. It eventually comes off but it fights you right to the end. Cheers😎👍

Terry finished up getting OBriens to remove glass cause as Dirty Harry said a man has to know his own limitations and it looked like a recipe for lots of paint damage on my part so now I’m at the clean the old sikaflex off the the window frame stage What did you use to remove it
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 2 года назад
I hear ya mate. I’ve got myself into more trouble than I care to admit by not raising the white flag when I should have. That sika on the window frame is a massive pain in the back side. I tried wax and grease, turps, acetone, bug and tar, and in the end it was good ole thinners on a rag and hours of elbow grease that got it off. It’s not fun but it works👍😎

Nice work, I’ll be curious to see how they go as my mates find them functional but have dust leaks. I think their attention to detail at the fitment is no where near what your doing
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 4 года назад
Thanks for taking the time and commenting Scott. I am curious as well mate, I have heard both good and bad. By the time the next video is released I will be on the dusty trails giving them a good workout. I’ll feedback how they perform and let you know. I’m giving it my best attempt at the install, so if they do leak it could still be because I don’t know what I’m doing🤔. Keep the shiny side up mate. Thanks again👍😎

Hey there, any follow up on your gullwing seals, have you changed and or modified them to a better system?
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 5 месяцев назад
Hi Travis. I’ve never had the need to change them or upgrade them. They were dust and water proof when I installed them, and they still are 10’s of 1000’s of corrugations later. If there are supposed to be issues with them I’ve not experienced any. Cheers👍
