In this video I continue the installation of the Emuwing gullwing windows in my Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series. The emuwing gullwing windows will allow me to access items in the rear of my Landcruiser that I have difficulty reaching from the tailgate area. This should greatly improve the usability of the rear cargo area in my Landcruiser. Episode 1 detailed removal of the window glass, so if you missed that one check it out here as it is not covered at all in the instructions provided by Emuwing.

In this episode I fit the emuwing gullwing windows into my Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series and provide detailed instructions on how you can do it too.
The final episode in this series will include a 3 week dust filled outback trip test to see how they hold up to corrugated dust filled roads, as well as my top ten installation hacks that ARE NOT covered in the installation instructions. Thanks Terry! I've just watched these videos again as I'm about to make & install mine. I've already bitten the bullet & removed one window to make it easier to work out what I'm going to do (they are really big being over 4' long!) so I've picked up a couple of ideas from you that might help me along. I'm pretty much flying blind as I never seen any on my model of vehicle with some quite tricky areas plus the glass is curved in both directions (not sure I'll need to break out the english wheel for them though🤣) The interior trim actually goes over the glass a certain distance so maybe I will have to make a parameter frame out of sheet like those emu wings? I plan on making an aluminium frame for the door itself & then glue the outer sheet to the frame, the aluminium will disport far to much from welding, all doable I think? I'll be running a continuous length plastic hinge to help with sealing it, but I'll somehow have to keep that straight & still look good on a curved panel. Painting it all black will be the key there. Anyway, back to planning & Thanks again for another very informative video! Glad they have been a success for you !👍👍

Thanks Terry, another very well detailed video. I do reckon that the idea is the absolute top but the fiddling installation and mainly the size of those hinges still does not convince me to spend that much. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience on this product. Cheers

Hi Terry, how did you remove the awful sikaflex from the original window where the frame doesn't cover?

Hi Will, great question. I cut as much of it off as I could without damaging the paint using a razor blade, then I used thinners, a rag, and a shit tonne of elbow grease. Not fun but it comes off eventually. Thanks for watching mate 😎👍

Looks great with the painted frame. Few questions.. Do you find more cabin noise from the metal panel as opposed to the glass ? Does it keep the car cooler or do the panels heat up and transfer the heat inside.

Thanks for your kind words Paul, and I agree the painted frames are the go👍. I was also wondering about the noise as I was installing them. I’m happy to report no difference what so ever between the window and the emu wing. It definitely keeps the car cooler compared to just the glass even with the radiant heat effect on the black emu wings as you note. I had that silver window shade stuff cut to size and stuck to the inside of my glass windows before I installed the emu wings. I would say those two was comparable in the ability to keep out the heat. Thanks for watching mate👍😎

HI Terry, how is the long term test results of this? You've probably seen Cruiser Company about to launch there design too. Any thoughts for someone looking to go down this path now? Cheers mate.

Still going strong mate, I have not looked back and have no regrets. I can’t comment on the Cruiser Company product, but as a concept to improve access to the back of the car, these things can’t be beat. I use them constantly 😎👍

Have you had much of an issue with dust getting into the back of the car (prior to emu wing). I am finding it coming through under those rear panels and thought it might be from the bottom vents.

I don’t own a 200, but if you have removed the rear seats I heard it might be getting in via the rear seat bolt holes ?

No Matt, my car has been pretty good but I have heard of others that have had dust issues. On thing I do when on dusty roads is crank the fan up to 3 or 4 on manual and have the fresh air vent open, not recycle. This pressurises the cabin marginally and I think that helps.
