I can Not conceive of a better sales pitch for one's ADV products then such a demanding, beautiful tour as this with colleagues, good ride footage that shows well the diversity of paths taken and the enjoyment that resulted - nicely done! Really does encourage me to adventure out more on my R1200GSA and to purchase Touratech products over well conceived other competing versions - thanks for another excellent presentation!
This is a demanding trip? Give me a break. This is what we did with friend on our old XT660 almost every weekend. No wonder Adventure "bikers" are a joke to so many people. Expensive bikes, overpriced gear that is unnecessary and/or poorly selected for the job. Buying gadgets from a shiny catalogue will not make you a better rider, only experience will.
Giles, my mistake. I thought you were insinuating that because he was on the most expensive bike he could ride like that. I’ve been lucky enough to ride with some International level riders through the bush and it’s a joy to watch but it does make me wonder why I even bother lol.
I know only two bikes in that team; Honda Africa Twin and Ducati Multistrada. Sorry KTM. What about Honda and Ducati ? This just a German advertisement :/
A Triumph Tiger 1200 is by far more preety, more exclusive, more tech, more power than any other bike shaft driven!!! And you guys just go on the wave like others...
I know this is a bit out there but I would love to see the Triumph Scrambler 1200 xe take on these bikes. I also think Touratec can turn the Scrambler from a naked ADV bike into a beast of a touring bike. Just something about that engine with that Diesel like torque that really apeal to me so much more than all these bikes.
The Triumph is a little limp dicked at a measly 89BHP and being a fat girl at 207Kgs dry. It certainly needs that torque to make it move, but at that weight category the KTM 1090/1190/1290 outclasses it it everything but price, then again, you get exactly what you pay for We won't mention those hideous exhausts which are sure to scald the rider in the event of a fall where the bike lands upon the rider..
This is just a promotional vid for Touratech. Nothing to do with comparing bikes. It is an all German/Austrian affair. Personally I think soft luggage is better than those huge ugly boxes sticking out.
ich bin 168 groß irgendwann fall ich mal um ,habe auch die normale adventure fahr auch überall mit dem ding hin geht super hab seit märz 2700km gemacht aber wie gesagt wenn ich mal auf schlechten wegen unterwegs war ist es immer spannend mfg
@@michaelmildner5571 Ich weiß nicht, ob du dir die Struktur der 790 Adv mal genau angeschaut hast aber sie landet auf dem Lenker und dem Tank, welcher geschützt ist dh du brauchst keine extra Sturzbügel. Nur Touratech braucht dein Geld.
Touratech prefers BMW and KTM. I have ridden these places with my Africa Twin, I am no expert, it was difficult but I did it because the Africa Twin is very agile with good suspensions. My advice would be good tyres like TKC80 and no rigid paniers ( just waterproof bag at rear)
Only Touratech could ruin a good looking bike like the KTM 790 Adv R by wrapping it up in terrible looking silver crash bars, which it obviously doesn't need at all What were you people thinking? Field Of Dreams? Build it and they will come?
Yeah, it's strange. The 790 is properly designed and does not require crashbars like that. Also the luggage setup on KTM is totally silly: hard side luggage and soft top - this does not make much sense - it's way more practical with soft sides and hard top (if at all).

Die mechanischen Beschädigungen und der Service-Bedarf pro Motorrad dürfte nach der Tour bei einigen Tausend Euro gelegen haben... Aber es sind ja Test-Motorräder! In den schweren TeuerTech Kombis und den 4 kg schweren Ski-Stiefeln durch die Altstadt bei 40°... jeder Schritt wird zur Qual, aber Hauptsache es sieht gut aus... Btw: Mit einer leichten 250 er Enduro wäre das ganze viel einfacher gegangen...Yamaha 250 Tenéré oder Mash Adventure oder Romet Adventure...
Bei solchen Kommentaren bekomme ich so das kotzen es ist ein Promo-Video! du musst nichts von der Firma kaufen (Ich hab nichts von Touratech) lass die doch fahren wie sie wollen! Mit einer kleinen Mash würde ich keine 1000km anreisen wollen ein reise Tempo von 80 will kein Mensch... immer dieses meckern
Wer meckert denn hier? Das ist sachliche Kritik! In Frankreich ist Tempo 80 Km/h auf der Landstraße vorgeschrieben. Überschreitungen können sehr teuer werden. Das schafft man locker mit einer 400er, 250er, 125er... Autobahn fahren ist Mist, aber selbst das können die kleinen Hüpfer! Die meisten Käufer von fetten Reise-Enduros und 3.000€ teurem TeuerTech Klamotten sind über 50/60 jährige, adipöse, unsportliche Motorradfahrer, die vor der Eisdiele einen auf "Long way Round" machen wollen... ein Lifestyle, eine Karnevalsverkleidung! Mit den 250 kg schweren Dampfern ins Gelände, mit Gepäck und der fetten Sozia hinten drauf... macht doch keiner! Wenn "Heinz und Helga" bei 40° im Schatten in ihren TeuerTech-Klamotten in den 4 kg schweren Botten durch die Innenstadt von Pamplona stapfen... einfach nur peinlich! Besser schnell ins Hotel, die Motorrad-klamotten weg ... Statt dessen T-Shirt, khakifarbene Shorts und Tennissocken in Birkenstocksandalen... damit geht dann auch Spanien im Hochsommer! ;-) "Ja, das war jetzt un-sachlich"... leider auch wahr! ;-)
Hhmm... the new 790 just another heavy adventure bike? Doesn’t look like it is that much better than the others. I was hoping for something that would make these rides look allot easier...
Get a test ride, take it to a gravel/sandy road - it's way easier to drive than AT or GS. It's way lighter, suspension is next-level good and the Rally mode is a pure joy if you like sliding your rear wheel on every corner. I don't think there an adventure bike out there ATM that drives better than the 790R.
pepperthepep not really... From various videos and speaking to 2 guys that were on the launch on Morocco. I’m never said it’s worse than the other bikes in the review, just saying that it seems that the guy riding it struggled the same as the guys on the other bikes. If it was 10-20kgs lighter, I’m sure it would have been a different story. Hence my opinion on unfortunately regardless of the suspension it still is just another over 200kg adventure motorcycle
RexDexPL the 790 definitely has the best stock suspension and the weight balance is great with the tanks low. The f800gs weighed less dry when it came out. I was hoping it would have come in at around 10kgs less than what the f800gs weighed (claimed) when it came out back then.
Sorry to disagree. They put a pro-rider on the most expensive bike, while other riders were average journalist. I rode my Africa Twin in these places and I am no pro, while friends prefered not to ride their GSA there, they rode CRF 250 or KTM690 instead.
mld maybe at the time of filming this video, but not anymore, my friend, not anymore. Now, top spec Africa Twin Adventure Sports costs the same as top spec R 1250 GS Adventure here, in the UK 🤷🏼♂️ I was really surprised 🙂
well, for one, it stated the CRF in the video title, I could swear there were some brief glimpses of one in the video, was it yellow?? not the color I expected. Yet it was never mentioned. Sure, I get touratech caters to the BMW adventure crowd, but we all love the adventure regardless of the bike. Does it make any sense whatsoever to be that exclusive? Why limit your market reach? pretty silly in my book.
you are correct about the stock suspension, it is too soft for the hardcore stuff though I still think it would have been competitive in that group even in stock trim, in the right hands.
...that’s definitely an interesting question.... maybe they are just following the age - structure of potential/definite buyers and/or the age - structure of adventure bikers typically doing trips like those.... exception confirm of course the rule!

RexDexPL ...IMO the TT quality is always top notch and of course this does cost a bit more.... people decide and, obviously, the majority do appreciate TT as the leading supplier in this industry meaning - they are buying the stuff and TT grows their business YoY.
exactly, everyone wants to be called an adventurer rider yet most of these big bikes never see mud, dirt, snow etc, etc. They are street tourers, but oh boy do they get offended if you call em that.
