Salt’s man in the video is Tupac. They cut out his face in scenes because this was filmed during his sexual assault accusation. The record company thought it best not to show him. And Pepa’s man is Treach from Naughty by Nature. Pep and Treach were really together. Whereas Salt and Pac were just friends.

A lot of people were talking smack about Salt N Pepper after Schoop because they claimed it was degrading to men. Whether they put this song out in response to that criticism or not, I still find this song to be one of the best examples of how to build up and encourage men, and/or how to describe a man who is deserving of that. Unfortunately, it's not something we see or hear a lot of.
@toriboy25

You ain't lying! Men need to be built up! They have been shat upon long enough! Men in this society NEED to be encouraged! They have been oppressed since to dawn of time! Fuck off with the talking smack when it comes to men and SHOOP not schoop. Shoop was not talking smack about men.

That line “and he knows that my name is not Susan” is a reference to a Whitney Houston song by (“My Name Is Not Susan”) that came out shortly before this one , about a man who is apparently sleeping around and calls her by the wrong name in a moment of intimacy…

They sampled "What A Man" by Linda Lyndell. Linda was a white woman singing black soul music in the 60s. She recorded only 4 songs on two 45RPM records before calling it quits. She got death threats from the KKK and other racist groups because she was singing black soul music. But her voice suited it. I like to think Linda Lyndell paved the way for Teena Marie, Jon B and JoJo. at 7:01, That's Terry Ellis of En Vogue lip syncing "Good God". "Good God" is actually Linda Lyndell's voice sampled off the original recording, not Terry's voice.
