This is a great example for all conductors out there. An orchestra without you, will always make music, but the opposite won’t happen. So, conductors of the world, be an inspiration for us, not just a metronome.
I was at the Carnegie Hall, somewhere in 1980s, when to make a point of how great the orchestra was, the same Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Leonard Bernstein crossed his arms and stopped conducting during the performance. There is a video of that, as I just found out: "Look Ma No Hands! Leonard Bernstein at his best..."
LOL yes I am so much fun at parties... but what does this have to do with the heart? Let's be honest, this is how people entertain toddlers, spinning for them, playing the idiot etc... :)
This is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. Doesn't she have any advisors telling her to finally cut this artificial attention-grabbing crap on stage? And Mehta - little better...
