Beethoven: wish you a Moonlight birthday. Chopin: wish you a militaire, heroic birthday. Brahms: wish you sweet dreams on your birthday. Bach: wish you a dramatic birthday. Mozart: happy birthday, come have a beer with me.
Chopin seriously wants you to have a HAPPY FREAKING BIRTHDAY. He is straight up trying to murder you with celebratory joy. Meanwhile, Bach is just trying murder you, period, and Beethoven wants you to be suicidally overwhelmed with the pointlessness of another year of existence.
0:21 Beethoven: Moonlight Sonata Mvt. 1 1:18 Chopin: Polonaise Op. 40 No. 1 1:26 Chopin: Heroic Polonaise Op. 53 1:50 Brahms: Lullaby 2:20 Bach: Toccata and Fugue in D Minor 3:19 Mozart: ? I'm pretty sure there is a second Beethoven piece at 0:46, if anyone knows what piece it is.

Silly, funny and frivolous, yet so heart-rending and beautiful. Brilliant performance. Edit: Just got to the intoxicated Mozart part - WHAT?! This woman is so next level.
@@MrNeonerl you would be wrong... if you know Borge's work well, and play it note for note, you are copying it. If she played different songs, that would be inspired. She played the same songs, note for note.
The speed, dexterity, and precision with which she plays these pieces, especially Chopin, Bach, and Mozart's are incredibly impressive to say the least!👌🏾
This will never get old. I've watched this once or twice a year for longer than I can remember and, although the recording quality doesn't age well, I always stay until the last second of the video. It never fails to amaze me.
Beethoven: "Oh it's your birthday... Now." Chopin: "You have a birthday and you will know it." Brahms: "Daww a birthday" Bach: "Welcome to my birthday" Mozart: "WE HAVE BIRTHDAYS EVERYDAY TOGETHER"
Beethovan: Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me.... HAPPY DEATHDAY TO ME Chopin: Happy FUCKING SUGARHIGH BIRTHDAY TO YOU Brahms: Happy birthday to you... there is something wrong with your cake, IT'S MAKING ME SLEEPY Bach: Happy Birthday to you... AND I HAVE COME TO COLLECT YOUR SOUL Mozart: Happy birthday to you... now hurry up I have to play to an other place. Mozart 2: It might be your happy birthday, BUT I WILL PLAY SO HARD, PEOPLE WILL GIVE ME GIFTS THAT THEY BROUGHT FOR YOU
As a grade 7 pianist, I can say that it would be a very, very long time. I'm only 2 grades from being a fully certified pianist and to be as good as she is I would need at least 3 years of constant practice after being finished those grades to even be half as good as she is! She is an absolutely stunning player and I would also love to be as good as she is!
Brilliant. And I love the way she starts each one with a familiar tune, thus making the jokes far more accessible, as people who didn't know the style of each composer could hear a sample of a tune they'd probably heard before.
Her Mozart versions were spot on, I love the upside down Mozart. And how she managed to inject Happy Birthday into Chopin's Military Polonaise... This is why I majored in Music Theory. Brava!!
@@Seven_1865 It really is! I learned that Music Theory was a thing when I was in junior high school and I decided immediately that I wanted to study that in college. I did major in Theory, but There aren't a lot of jobs for Music Theory majors out there.
Today, October 3, is my sons 43rd birthday and I’m sending this to him. He loves music. He teaches physics. This is right up his alley! Thank you so much for putting this online. It’s awesome!
"We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing." I can't remember who said that, but it's one of the best and truest fucking things I've ever heard.
What i love about this little show is that, for those who are not very familiar with classical music, like myself, she is able to teach us how to distinguish the different characteristics of each composer. Brilliant.
Too bad people have to be so cruel on the Internet. 90% of her audience probably never saw Victor Borge or even know who he was. I was a huge Borge fan ------------- and I am a fan of her doing this for today's audiences. Give her a break. I can name dozens of jazz musicians who cop all kinds of licks from the previous masters.
YESS!!! EXACTLY!!! I mean she's sharing her joy from Victor Borge with others so shouldn't Victor Borge's hardcore fans thank her? hmm.... Elvis Presley stole a lot of songs I believe
Yes! Great comment! Here, here! There needs to be more of this fun, not less. I was a fan of his too, and obviously this musician is as well. And who cares if she isn't the very first person to have done this? You're right, people seem to think just because they can hide behind a keyboard, they can be as nasty and irrationally nit-picky as they please without getting called on it.
Miss Capri A man goes on stage and enchants an ignorant audience with the wisdom of Jesus by delivering word for word His Sermon on the Mount. Ought he be lambasted for taking credit for doing so without even the slightest acknowledgement of its true author? Discuss.
Mike Vax I thank you for this comment. First I was actually searching for someone in the comment who knew who Borge was, because it looked so much like his shows here (as in reaaally), but he wasn't mentioned in the description or else. Maybe it's a tribute and she mentioned it, but it just isn't showed. Maybe she does other things (first video that I'm watching). Maybe she even doesn't know him at all but has the same ideas (that can happen, I know what I'm talking about). So thanks for having put it in perspective.
So basically; Beethoven: "I solemnly celebrate your birth while you question it with a mild existential crisis. Chopin: Naw don't listen to him aren't you happy for your glorious birthday which is plated in gold? Because you should. like it or not. Brahms: I'd like to say hbd but small voices because the neighbour's fluffy cuddly kittens are taking their afternoon naps and it's a serious offense to wake them up. Bach: You'll have a birthday and it's mandatory to be happy. Mozart: OMG Happy birthday, meanwhile i ate all of your birthday cake and now i have sugar rush.
Beethoven: "What's the point of my birthday when she's not mine?" Chopin: "The thing is that I like birthday but I don't like birthday party. But.. but.. shut up. Let me finish first. But for you to celebrate my birthday is something not right. No, no. I'm not lonely in my birthday. I'm lonely in life." Brahms: "Mom. Dad. Can I have one more wish? Can you sing a lullaby to me, please? Bach: "I have no birthday!" Mozart: "Hey, hey. I love birthdays, cakes, spaghetti, marshmallows, balloons, clowns,.."
Beethoven: “Is the cake real? Was it ever? What is the point of a birthday if I am not existent?” Chopin: “YES THE CAKE HAS VANILLA I LOVE VANILLA!” Brahms: “Hmm? Ooh, cake, ahhhhh. Have some more, darling husband. Hmm. Nom-nom. Oh look, a unicorn is playing the piano.” Bach: “I asked for VANILLA! This is CHOCOLATE! You made a MISTAKE. GET OUT! YOU’RE NOT MY SON ANYMORE!!!” Mozart: “Anyway, did I tell you about the time I gave my dog the wrong present and he went back to the forest with it? It was a sad day because I couldn’t have the chews to myself. What IS this stuff? Beer? Well, I’ll have just a TAD bit more. A bit more, please? Thank you. Anyway, happy birthday, me, happy birthday, you...”
She just did that 8 years ago and I've never seen any other person do this, how is this not even a meme for any recognition, like this is THE video!!!😭 thumbs up!!👍👌
Victor Borge integrated other pieces and composers. Her talent and skill are not minimized because somebody else made Classical music accessible through "Happy Birthday."
When I was at the U.S. Defense Language Institute in San Antonio in 2002, all six of my international classmates sang "Happy Birthday to Mrs Ponce" for our instructor using each of their mother tongues---Korean, Turkish, Arabic, Bulgarian, Spanish, and Japanese. Mrs Ponce was so delighted to hear six different linguistic versions of the song!
"this woman is awesome!" that is how ı thought in the middle of the video. she is so natural while playing , confident and impressive. ı am sure she practiced piano for years and this is the outcome of hard work and patience.
Uploader MARCOS, what a debt we owe you. Mr Carlile-Davis, Jr did the same to surprise my younger daughter, except it was variations on a theme of her favourite prog at the time, "The Monocled Mutineer".
This woman deserves literally every fucking award there is and ever was that last one killed me omg. [edit: Upon my comment I have been made privy to information regarding the original performance that this woman is replicating. It was a genuine mistake, and I always wish to give credit where credit is due :) in the thread below you’ll find info regarding the original creator of this routine -Victor Borge-as well as the piece this talented pianist is copying as many performers do. Mimicry - when done tastefully - is quite different from MOCKERY. It is, in fact, deemed one of the highest forms of praise and flattery one can emote to a creator/artist/colleague. Those who play Mozart in recital are doing no different than this woman. My comment was meant to praise her ability to replicate someone else’s work. That’s all. :) With Peace&Love)
