I like how the old site did it honestly, but I voted to keep them separate on Peppy's poll since it's easier to see how many of each if you really cared (I had 39 SS ranks total for 3 years until I got another one the other week, I clearly don't mind either way xD)
Its more about maintenance than implementing; having more features means more stuff that can go wrong with updates and all. But yh more customization is always welcome.
You don't know the reason for why HD/FL have different S ranks. It's because FL and HD used to be much more difficult + rhythm game traditions. Old HD didnt have hitcircles and sliders disappearing so it was much harder and more cluttered.
i think it should be customisable as you said but also there should be an additional option to override everyone's profiles to be how you want kindve like disable background, storyboard, skin, etc and this also means you can choose which specific custom things you want to override
although this might lead to everyone using the override to see the page how they want but ehhh defaults do have power, and unlike stuff i compared it to like background dim it doesnt affect gameplay and there's not much reason for most ppl to bother or care
i like how peppy said he didnt 'need' to visit the old site,just to justify the change,but even for those who preferred the old site they couldnt do anything but stick with the new one just because any link forcefully redirected to it. btw verto, u re ~1 year late, the greatest osu era ended 17/02/2020
You're just used to it, I started playing with the new site and that's the opposite for me: I feel like the old site is messy and the new one is clean and clear
Im a fan of customization, and options too, why should i not be able to display my fl B ranks or hr SS ranks on my profile separately? Its not like people actually look at your S, silver S, SS, silver SS and A counts when evaluating your profile (except if you are into farmin one of them, and you have an obscenely huge number), so having them completely hidden or displaced would be an option too. All in all, it's just the same flex material like ranked score, pp or #1 places, it has attention behind it because its displayed on the profile. There are a lot of similarly interesting goals you can play for that are not directly displayed, so if we could customize it we would probably have a bigger interest in the person with most fl SS ranks and other similar stuff. So yeah: TL:DR: why reduce the amount of goals that get attention when we could increase it instead?
I like Silver S-Ranks because it spices things up a bit for HD players. HD is subjectively harder than nomod, so there should be some sort of "reward".
I personally think that this is absolutely 100% not important. Customization is cool, but this is so incredibly not important in the bigger picture. We don't need tiny little toggles for such menial customizations. I'm sure the dev team would rather focus on getting lazer out than tiny community squabbles over basically nothing. While transitioning from old to new takes a bit of getting used to in the beginning, the new web experience is pretty and functional.
I agree that we should move on, but I kinda wanted to have an option to change the layout of the current site to the old one lol. Anyway tho, F to the old site. It doesn't concern the topic of the video but, regarding S ranks, wish sb would just lessen the pp rewarded lightly, sb are killing all my "almost" top plays
