“What is the path a student is expected to take in the changing job world?” Dr Saji Gopinath poses this, and a few more questions to the panel as we continue the discussion from last week.
In Part 1 we heard the views from a senior college Professor, a BSFI professional and an HR Consultant. They all agree that in the changing job and recruitment scenario the student / job aspirant can no longer expect to be a specialist or focus only on marks/CGPA, rather they have to be multi-skilled with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
This week we hear some revelations from another senior Professor, from a reputed college. He speaks about how colleges are meeting the employment/employability challenge. Does the accreditation of a college enhance the chances of students getting suitable placements? Are there gaps in the industry academia interface? Listen to the discussion to know Dr Cherian’s views.
Listen to a very frank commentary on the education process and its impact on students by a final year B Com student. Are students getting what they want from the system? Do they want jobs or something else? What are the student aspirations that colleges are unable to address or meet?
Where does the solution lie?
