Like Jobbe said, I'm sure TG didn't pay for this entire event. Actually when you really think about it, the show doesn't invest that much money at all. They re-use the same race track over and over, they only have 4 people regularly on-camera (including the stig), most of the new cars they get are probably given to them for free by the manufacturers, and when it comes to the challenges they typically spend less than 15000 pounds between the 3 of them. There are plenty of times they clearly spent good money on a single episode, but that doesn't seem too often. I'm sure the show's budget is probably very average on a yearly basis.

Here's a conspiracy for you: When the jag left the ramp did you notice a plume of white smoke? And just before it fell in the sea, did you also notice the huge jack mounted to the back of it? This my friends was fired off the end of a hydrogen canon, a little like the ones used in the bond films.

I saw steam after the car left the carrier. Did they really use the steam catapult for this? I mean, I suppose that would be a bit easier than hooking up an RC system, but I do wonder if that's actually how they did it.

What I didn't understand is why the hell they used a camera angle that SHOWS the steam catapult in action. It's SOOOOOOOOOOO captian obivious that they didn't kill anyone there anyways, but showing the catapult made it ridiculous.

there is no steam catapult on that ship, it is a harrier carrier, those planes could take of in short distances or vertically. the only reason they dont take off vertically is cause it uses to much fuel.

This is fake Stig did not die on that ship. Reasons why is because first of all the crew would not act all calm like that. Secondly, that ship would of got sued for Stigs death. Third, of all they would of probably canceled the show. Finally, this is just a stunt mainly to bring in views, wanting people to tune in the next show to see if The Stig really died. Witch he didn't, this is a brilliantly planed episode to bring in views to the next episode of Top Gear.

Schumacher was never the Stig. He just dressed up like him for that one episode because he was the only person allowed to drive the Ferrari FXX they had on the show. Pick up Ben Collins' autobiography, it explains a lot of stuff.

sorry to burst your bubble guys but when the car goes off the ramp you see smoke /fog. that is the decompressed air/co2 that pushes the car using one tube inside the car which is what you see in the beginning of the run.. and another pipe that guides/launches the car using compressed air this technique is used in movies to make cars flip

Now to clear up things, the Black Stig broke the BBCs rule of all stigs, which is not to reveal your identity, which he did when he published a novel in which he told that he was the Black Stig, he violated the BBCs contract, hence why he was later replaced by Ben Colins

I never realised this before but when the car is ''drove'' off the edge. It isn't because there is a small cloud of white smoke and I assume that it was put onto a machine and launched out to sea. I also noticed the random black tube on the back of the Jag which makes me assume it was fitted by that to the machine. Js
