Only morons take those jokes seriously. James is a very interesting and intelligent person. Probably my favorite as far as being a person I would actually really like to know in real life.
That’s the irony for me. The other two always paint him as ‘boring’ but, of the three, James is the one I’d most like to have a pint with and chat about anything from steam engines to Scalextric.
I mean who wouldn't? We obviously know that they are in scripted shows but my guess is that the script basically tells them what's gonna happen next but their lines are basically on the fly. You could tell just by these outtakes that they just bounce off each other well
Yeah, but I mean not talking off-script, I mean talking like grown ups, without gags or jokes every 3 seconds. Like, I get it, they still joke and dick around like bro's even when off script, but their off-screen conversations are much more like actual people talking, rather than on-screen personalities, and the amount of joking is significantly reduced, and on whole they seem like much-more intelligent people off-screen. Not to say they look stupid on-screen, but when cameras are rolling they are definitely playing up their apparent daftness for laughs, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but it's really enjoyable to see and hear them talk like their normal selves, without acting for screen.
Lol at the sandwich analogy. My grandfather when asked if he liked dinner would always respond with “it was terrible so I ate it all to keep anyone else from getting sick” lol
I used to be a waiter, and I can't count the number of people who would eat their whole meal, then think they were clever by demanding a refund because it was terrible.
@@derp195 This is the worst. People eating their food, saying NOTHING, and then when they're finished, they ask for a manager because the food "wasn't good". Say something before you eat literally all of it, if it's not good. Do you think we're fucking stupid?
no, its simply the art of appearing to not be funny on purpose, when you are actually doing it on purpose. its the best kind of humor and VERY british, we tend to be quite good at being nonchalantly funny
Back then I don't think there was any legal way to watch Top Gear. If it had been airing on a US channel I'd imagine it would have gotten great ratings.
I have such fond memories of watching Top Gear episodes on Saturday mornings in America during this era, after letting it download all night, and reading the dumb comments on FinalGear, exactly as Jeremy described. He must have been lurking the forums without any of us knowing!
As an American, I completely agree. We have fallen in dignity lately, we had fallen slightly for a long time, however, I can say that it has dropped off significantly more, especially since 2016.
With the rise of the internet and social media. Being able to comment and post almost anything with near anonymity allows more people to do real fucked up things. I won't say people were always like this but I'd say it definitely made it worse
In my defense, I watch it on Prime, which I assume was legit. That's how I discovered top gear. Not long after the trio we're done. That don't show it anymore. 😕
Brown is, after all, a decidedly British color. So much of their food ends up that color despite having colonized half the planet in search of ingredients to make it otherwise.
I actually wonder what clarksons goodbye would have been if he was allowed to do that last episode, especially after his talking about loyalty and such here, would suggest a slight sweet spot
It’s one in the morning here in France and i’m listening to james may talking about old british camping car wich is more interesting than it sounds actually
A friendly reminder that in most countries, cars cost anywhere from x5 to x30 times the anual wage. a car being x3 the anual wage is actually pretty decent and affordable.
lol i didnt get that either. i was like shifter? what? had that feeling when everyone bursts out laughing in the group and you just stand there awkwardly
Well, he's assuming it's body temperature, which is one a lot of people memorize as children when your parents are fussing over you having fevers. Hence the old unit.
In my opinion atleast, the Ford Capri is the only unrealiable car James has ever brought to any of the challenges. Every other car he has bought has never needed service on the side of the road
@@Greeny6420s Don't worry I was trying to be funny by saying that the video has 30,000 views so how can it be 'unseen'. I know I'm ashamed of myself so let's forget it. Won't be going into comedy anytime soon.
