I was interested in the Tower 28 blushes but I have seen a lot of people declutter them because they go bad quickly and then I remember why it is important to use preservatives in makeup instead of fear-mongering chemicals that have a purpose.

Very true! It will be interesting to see if the hype surrounding these clean beauty brands dies down in 2024. It sucks because a lot of them make good products but it’s almost impossible to justify buying their products if they are going to expire so much faster.

@@AndreaMatillanoand then theres dior ruining their formula to make everything clean. Apparently their blush that was super popular looks super chalky and kind of dry now.

Moira Cosmetics cream blushes are an exact dupe formula wise of the Tower 28 blushes, but better. They last longer, are cheaper, and don’t go bad as quickly

Loved this video! For 2023 I didn’t purchase any makeup unless I ran out of it completely! It was very life changing. I understand you need to try new things for RU-vid, but for myself personally I can’t get through too much in my day to day.

That’s a good strategy! I did that a few years with a specific project pan and it was a nice reminder of how long it takes to go through certain products.

please try not to think of having a larger collection is being something you need to do better about. i love a good declutter, too, but your collection by default would be larger than the average person’s because this is your job. as long as it’s manageable, as you said 💕

As a retiree, I seldom use my *very* extensive makeup collection, and I appreciate the reminder to check for expiration dates! I'm certain I've got some cream products that are destined for disposal. Thanks, Andrea!

I did declutter my makeup in Mars or April, but I think I wasn’t hard on myself enough. I know that I kept a few palettes just because I like one or two shades in them. I also kept a blush palette because that’s the only pink blushes I own - the reason why it’s the only pink ones is because I don’t like pink on myself 😂! I’m going to do a better job next declutter! 💕

Love declutters. Im not doing a declutter yet but definitely in the process of using what i have for the next year. I finally incorporated eyeliner and lip liners to my collection so excited to use more of them in my routine

Oh, please do a video on your eyeshadow look; it looks so beautiful 😍 I too recently purged my makeup by giving it to friends and family so they have a chance to be used before expiring. Ive only replaced what i absolutely love and use a lot. My collection is so much smaller and really taylored to my style.

I need to go through my stuff too. My Tower 28 blush expired too, but I’ve had it for a year. That red lip you showed reminded me of my sister. She loves brick, mid-toned red colors. It’s her absolute favorite color to wear. She refers to them as her “nude reds” lol. I’m with you though. I’ll love to wear brick reds once in a while, but I love brighter or deeper reds

The trick with stick products is to not apply them directly to the face. Apply the product to the back of your hand, and then put your brush in that, then apply it to the face. I do this with the Nyx wonder stick bronzer and one from Uoma that is hard to blend. Warming up most stiff cream products on the back of the hand will make it apply much more easily.

Clay It Cool is one of Colourpop’s best palettes formula-wise. I use it regularly including today!

The Elf Halo Glo line I have combination sensitive skin and for me this was on my top five products that I hate list. They didn’t work for my skin type. The blendability was awful for me and I was so incredibly disappointed. So you’re not alone. Also I got pink undertones and the contour for the fair skin tone was too ashy. I literally look like I contoured my face with soot.

Could you explain how the texture changed in the T28 blushes and Colourpop bronzer? I also didn't love the ELF liquid blushes. The CT is more pearly, ELF was more metallic.

i decluttered the Clay it Cool palette.. I used it once.. i was disappointed when I received it as the promo pics made it look a lot richer than it is in person. It did not look good on my skintone. I thought is was not pigmented enough,, for me anyway. I passed it on to my bff. I have the Big Poppy and it is the same color story but MUCH better formula :o)

I am one of those people who is not a big Elf fan. Almost everything I have tried from them ends up not working well for me (even the brushes which start shedding way way too soon). The biggest draw is the price, but at least on me nothing from Elf looks good. I find that bizarre but have tried many times and that’s the way it goes.

When you say expired- do you go off of date of purchase or date of opening product based on their timeline?

I usually go based on the texture, color, or scent changing and then take into account how long I’ve had it! I don’t usually go by the brand timelines except in the case of mascara.

I decluttered my lipstick about 3 months ago. My old school Bite lipsticks finally went off. Makes me sad. I don't love the new formula. ❌️⭕️
