THE BIGGEST MAKEUP FLOPS OF 2023! The WORST Launches of the Year? 

The Pat McGrath labs x Star Wars collab was a huge flop! I think everybody was shocked when we realized they just put a big Star Wars sticker over the lid of one of an unpopular mothership palettes. Also Colourpop as a whole as been flopping imo.. seems like everybody is done with their constant weekly releases

If i havent said it already, thank you for standing against predators. I would have thought that was obvious to everyone but we all learned a lot this year. Good on you for standing up for ethics!

It's so strange to me that, with all their R&D, Haus Labs, Fenty Beauty, and Rare Beauty all have had such terrible eye shadow launches. We have indie brands that can nail it but these huge brands can't get it together. So embarrassing.

If too faced made tin pallets again I think they would sell better.

The Loreal telescopic lift mascara!!! My lashes clumped so bad. Everytime I used it I poked my eye or face.

I feel like the Caliray palette would have sold if it had a different layout of the pans and then 2-3 color stories at least.

I actually think the KVD was a good release because they discontinued their old, heavier full coverage foundation and then launched this. The balm one works for me because I have super dry skin, but I have to sheer it out. I miss the medium coverage foundation they had (portrait). Idk why they just randomly pulled it 😢

Honestly the electrip palette missed a huge opportunity. Since i havent used LSD in over 30 yrs, i think its safe to admit that tripping (on acid or shrooms) in the 90s had an actual color palette based on all the iridescent and glittery fidgets & toys that became available. if they had done a 90s prism & iridescent inspired color story, i think it would have felt more cohesive and less like random faux hippie trash. If youre going to celebrate drug use, lol know your drug...

I will always agree with you on the Elf HG beauty wands. They simply do not last. I decided to give the blush one more chance the other day. Gone within a few minutes. But hey... at least I now know that the Colourpop cream blushes last all day long! Bali Baby FTW❤❤

I really think 2023's highlight was Indi brands. Their palettes are far superior in quality and have beautiful color stories. I love Ace Beaute, Uneartly, and Lethal. I think you'd enjoy trying some of their products in 2024

The elf lip stain did nothing for me. It tasted funny and had a weird wet/cream consistency. I didn't want to take any risks when purchasing eyeshadow during the sales, so I stuck with my favorite brand, Sydney Grace, and the shadows didn't disappoint. Such beautiful, rich colors.

I wouldn't say this was a flop for its launch but I couldn't for the life of me get the Rare Beauty eyeshadow primer to work for me. It would always crease. It's a shame because I really like that company as a whole. The caliray face palette was a big flop.

I did not like the elf halo glow wands. So dry and patchy. Same with the Milani ones. And I was personally offended by that Huda pressed powder 😂😂

The Liquid IV by Kosas. Ooooff the shimmer or glitter is so bad in this. Plus, as a Canadian, I spent $50 on it.

The merit shadow in studio is my favorite eyeshadow. I've worn it practically every day since I got it. I have oily lids and they STAY. nothing else has ever stayed crease free on me, it's so weird that they're perfect for me when people find them to crease 😢

I got "influenced" to buy the KVD Good Apple foundation and I hated it!!! It was way too drying for me and it was way too much coverage for me!! It was awful!!

I love the caliray palette. It is great for travel . It is a more of a summer palette IMO , when I have a lighter makeup look . I do think it was overpriced at the original price

The Huda pressed powder is not good. It is fresh in my mind. I didn't buy the Merit because of really mixed reviews. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️

I'm a light medium skin tone, and cool toned. I struggle with bronzer turning orange on me. The flower beauty powder bronzer in the light shade is the only one that works, so I really appreciated the Jones road pink bronzer. It works really well. It's more like a mix of bronze and blush, but its nice to have something else to use. I also like the revolution cream bronzer, but it can pull a little yellow some days. I don't watch mikayla at all, but I think she should be more thoughtful when giving her opinion on a product, especially if she has so much influence( have no idea why) Maybe just say it didn't work for her instead of "gawd don't buy it." As we all know, make up works differently for everyone. To be honest, I wouldn't take her recommendations for anything. Those merit cream shadows do look dry looking and hard to blend on some people I saw using them, I use the Revlon colorstay creme eye shadows, they are fantastic! Gorgeous shades and last for hours. Plus their velour and glimmer stick shadows as well. Can't beat them, in my opinion., 😊🎄🎁🎅

What about those $54 Hourglass single shadows??

I just bought a Fenty velvet liquid lipstick to wear to a wedding next week. Lord, that thing is going back. That sucker smeared all over my lips and on my face. I bought HBIC and it’s a beautiful shade but I can’t w the formula. Not keeping it around for $30.

I agree with the haus labs palettes being a flop, they are so overpriced for only 6 shades. I suppose if they are 50% off, then they would be an ok price to buy but Morgan Turner reviewed this and they don't last on the lids. When Kosas released that glow tint, I assumed if they, like ELF, were drying to give their own stab at duping Charlotte Tilbury but failed. I don't like or use this liquid glow enhancing products though, I don't get the appeal. I disagree with the Glow recipe primer, I loved that primer, I do love glow recipe products though

ahhhh sooo funny, I love the Polite Society mascara and am obsessed with the lip plumper! hahaha

I personally don't think Haus Labs released bad eyeshadow palettes. They are not for everyone and from what I heard they are a softer formula that can be build up so you don't get full pigment from first application, which is great for mature skin, sensitive skin and beginners, correct me if I'm wrong. ✌️

I like a very subtle eye shadow and I bought 2 of the merit ones, personally they work ok for me. Not my all time favorites but I do not hate them")

I like the Calliray palette but it was made for my light neutral skin tone and that's horrible marketing!

It’s important to remember that inflation is high. When the economy takes a downturn, consumers become more conservative. Most people will be buying good quality, fairly neutral pallets that they can get a lot of use out of. That Melt palette was launched at the wrong time. Also, look for “clean” brands to have more sales as they have significantly shorter shelf lives. I will no longer by Dior as it is way too expensive for a six month shelf life.

I liked the Jones Road pink bronzer. Quite pretty.

It's so funny bc I am wearing the Caliray palette now. I have blonde hair , blue eyes fair to light skin and the colors are amazing on me. I got it on sale and I'm so happy I did. The quality of the shadows are great and have really good pigmentation. It's an everyday palette for me. I'm 47. I've tried hundreds of pallets and I really enjoy the Caliray.

I haven't used many of these but I do think it's getting harder to make new makeup companies. There is so much competition already.

I loooooooove that Melt palette but that price point is too high for colours that might not suit me

What concealer is good for hyperpigmentation? Drugstore or High End?

Most of the Creator’s I watch did review the Melt palette they prefer Indie eyeshadow and it got just ok reviews from them I think it’s rude to shout out other Creators in someone else’s videos unless asked, if you’d like to watch those reviews just ask and I can tell you the ones I watched .

I can only speak for myself, but I can only have so much makeup, but with that said, I bought so much eyeshadown in 2022, so.., I am focusing on complexion products this year. Just my 2 cents 😅

Merit eyeshadows work awesome for me..

The “Merit” single eyeshadows…I totally disagree with these reviews!!! Since mature beauty content creators are relatively nonexistent, then it comes as no surprise 20 & 30 something makeup enthusiasts dislike it . BUT , when you’re over 40 & 50 , the struggle with oily crepey eyelids , and eyeshadows moving constantly , this product is PERFECT combating those struggles 👍!! And from someone who’s bought all of them , I can tell you confidently that they DO NOT BUDGE 💁‍♀️👏👌!!

I watch the Lipstick Lesbians and they said that the Haus Labs eyeshadows are backfilled-meaning they are a liquid when they go into the pan, the glitters are biodegradable, and are supposed to give the eyelid a smoother appearance for people who have textured eyelids. I think this may be why people see the metallic silver and purple and think it is going to be insane foil but it gives a smooth blend...I don't know, just a theory; don't quote me lol. I appreciate how easy it is to say that you don't support a predator, no frills required, LOVE. I am sure that you can agree, being a mom yourself, if that happened to my kid--let me tell you how that would not be okay. Happy Holidays!

While James Charles is not on my watch list I would not say his time had come and gone...hes still enjoying massive success and a huge following. 21M on YT, 24 M on IG and 38M on TT. His makeup line was a total disaster, whoever advised him was definitly WAY off on what his audience would have stood in line in the pouring rain to by. I suspect James was head strong on what he wanted and most likely even the best consultants available couldnt sway him off of this launch of what was basically a line for professional make up artitsts who mix their colours daily to do very editorial looks. While he definitly has a following that emulate his style with bold creative looks the majority of his following would have been as disappointed in his highly anticiapted launch as the make up world was when the highly anticiapted launch from Tati Westbrook was a vitamin suppliment. Both really missed a huge opportunity although Tati did come back and finally scratched the itch with her one eye shadow pallet. That is just my twenty seven cents anyway, ya know, inflation. LOL :)
