What an organized mind that makes the teaching and learning so easy! Good job Erin. Every time I watch your video I get very impressed and amazed. Good job MAMA.
Hey Erin! After binge watching your videos 🙈 We decided to switch to MFW from Abeka with my daughter who will be going into grade 1 and my daughter who is doing Pre K MFW. However, I’m having a very hard time with the change ! Just flipping through the workbooks it seems like it isn’t enough. At what age does MFW teach to read? Abeka teaches 3 letter words in JK and progresses In sk. It was more than what I think a 4 year old needs to learn at the age that’s why we switched ! But now I feel like MFW just isn’t enough. I guess I’m just looking for some advice or encouragement to help change my mindset of thinking it’s not enough and needing to add more from different curriculums.
@@tinaknelsen6028 learning to read happens in Kindergarten and 1st grade. Halfway through Kindergarten you start reading short stories. In 1st grade the FOCUS of the year is learning to read ... specifically the Bible reader. The Bible reader and notebook will combine all the big things you are learning like reading, the history, retelling the story, and illustrating what you are reading. If you need more I recommend level 1 books (Library or used book stores, thrift shops for about a $1) have a set time of 15 minutes per day going through those books. Another thing you could try is BOB books. Each child is different something they need a little more and sometimes a little less. Hope this helps and you start getting more of what you need.
@@tinaknelsen6028 also I haven't used Abeka before but I have heard its a little bit more intense so I can see why it might seem like a big change. I've commonly heard MFW be referred to as gentle ... so not as intense. But like I mentioned above feel free to add more books and practice as you see fit.
