REVIEW: Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a fantastic exploration platformer, or "Metroidvania," from Japanese developers Adglobe and Live Wire and publisher Binary Haze Interactive. This is a full, in-depth and minimal story spoiler review of the game, which was originally released in 2021, but just got a physical release on Switch and PS4 courtesy of Clear River Games. It’s a solid dark fantasy side-scrolling action RPG that fans of classics like Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, or modern hits like Bloodstained and Hollow Knight should try out. It's a fun game, and while it doesn't have the depth of many similar titles, but I think it's a real work of art, a "modern Metroidvania masterpiece," if you will. And not just visually, but musically with its amazing soundtrack composed and performed by Japanese indie band Mili. (‪@ProjectMili‬)
Ender Lilies has been released digitally on the PC for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4 and XBOX ONE and Series X/S, and physically on Switch and PS4, and includes many language options, so the game is very easy to pick up and play for fans around the world who love indie titles, action RPGs, dark fantasy, games from Japan or Metroidvania style adventures.
Since the publication of this review, a sequel to Ender Lilies was announced for modern platforms, Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist.

Thanks for watching! I know this game has been out for a while now, but it just got a physical release in Europe. I actually didn't know about this until I was already editing the video together, so I added in a new line of voice over mentioning it...strange but good timing, it's almost like I was destined to talk about Ender Lilies...or just odd coincidence. Well, sometimes that happens with some of the games I've talked about, but thankfully for Ender Lilies, it had multiple language options from the start (as far as I know). Tengai Makyou ZIRIA was just a happy coincidence, I hope more of the games I've covered on the channel get translations.

I've never seen something worth of the title "hidden gem" like ender Lillies I played it after a year of it's release cuz I wasn't really interesting but after I did it became my favourite metroidvania ever Can't wait for ender magnolia

Just finished the game today. Bought it on sale for digitally for the Switch. The game gets better as you go. Got all 3 endings. North is my favorite track of this game.

I'll never get tired of watching Ender Lillies reviews just because I had such a good time with it I want this game to reach as many people as possible. I myself am excited for the full release of Ender Magnolia and once a friend of mine finally finishes Hollow Knight I'll probably gift her this one next

I first played the demo version and I was impressed. Glad I manage to finally beat it last year, and it was worth it. Cannot wait for it's sequel this year.

I dont enjoy too many souls like metroidvanias as i prefer combat to be quick and simple with more of a focus on exploration, but i really did enjoy ender lillies. Jimmy, check out the last faith. It really feels like a 2D bloodborne, from the story, the look, the atmosphere. I had a good time with that one too.

I'll admit that i bought a physical switch version of this game from Playasia after watching you stream and recommend it awhile back. My issue with this game is that it felt short for me compared to other metroidvanias and remember wanting more after 100% completing this game a couple years back. Still, im currently replaying hollow knight and was leaning towards replaying this one again afterwards. Maybe ill see something different on this playthrough

I'm sorry to hear you didn't quite like it as much as I did--I admit art direction plays a big role on how much I enjoy a game...that or hormone shooting mechanics. I had a line in my script where I say Ender Lilies lacks the depth of a Hollow Knight or Bloodstained, but other areas make up for that...however I left it out of the final video.

As a massive fan of Metroidvanias, looks like I'm gonna have to give this a try. I'd heard of it but didn't think too much of the visuals. They're pretty of course, but there aren't too many notable games these days I'd consider "ugly". I played "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" last year and just thought it was "okay", and found myself disappointed by "Timespinners" and a couple of other Metroidvanias. I'll probably wait for a sale as I'm having bad luck with games as of late (just purchased "Legend of Grimrock" and I'm not enjoying it much). @@ImportGamingFTW "Timespinners" is alright, but what brought it WAY down in my eyes was toward the end of the game when it very randomly started talking about transgenderism, bisexuality, and a romance and off-screen sex scene happening between the main character and and NPC. I've never seen anything come so far from left field in a story in my life. I cannot stress how weird the characters and dialog became near the end of the game. As for "Legend of Grimrock", it's not bad, just monotonous, and it's puzzle after puzzle after puzzle, and they're all essentially trial and error. As far as Metroidvanias go, I'm still in love with "Salt and Sanctuary" and "Momodora: Reverie of the Moonlight". I've been finding myself enjoying shorter games as of late, and the latter is a really great game that you can finish in just a sitting or two. "Salt and Sanctuary" is for my money the standard bearer for Metroidvania. "Hollow Knight" interests me but it seems a bit too long for my liking. Other Metroidvanias I'm interested in are "Grimvalor", "Koumajou Remilia 2: Stranger's Requiem", "Swords of Vagrant", "Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony", "Record of the Lotus War", and "Gal Guardians: Demon Purge". Too many games, too little time lol. Thank you again for the video, and God bless.

I got this game when almost the same day it hit steam I was browsing steam one day and found this one like 2-3 days after it had hit steam and I got it becuse im a sucker for these types of games and it´s damn great game.

If there were difficulty options, I would have totally given this a try. As is, I do not have the skill or patience to play difficult games that are, essentially, souls-likes. But man… that soundtrack! Dig the art style, dark setting, etc.

I need to keep an eye out for a Japanese physical copy of Redemption Reapers at a good price. These games have such amazing soundtracks, and that seems to be the only way to even get the OST for Redemption Reapers. (Not sure why they don't just sell it on Steam like they do for Ender Lilies)

Not sure what extra charges and shipping will look like for the proxy bidding services, but Redemption Reapers collector's editions are pretty cheap on Mercari, and I think you can find them for less than retail on Amazon Japan.

I used to just manage with eBay, but it seems like the price gouging only keeps getting worse for Japanese goods in there. (Honestly, what I need to import the most is a "new" 3DS. You wouldn't believe the prices in the US. It's completely crazy for a system that sold so many units.)

Enjoyed the game to a point. But it got to where bosses would kill me in 2 hits and I just stopped caring to continue.

Sorry to hear that--was it the mad warrior? I think he's the most difficult boss in the game. I didn't need to grind for levels since I explored everywhere pretty thoroughly before heading to new areas, but I think I did need to rearrange my setup for that fight (skills and relics).

probably one of the best Metroidvanias I've had the pleasure of playing, the soundtrack still randomly comes to my mind two years after playing it; the only problem is, this and hollow knight, probably ruined all new metroidvanias I attempt to play since.

I have to admit it made me curious about the game. Bloodstained RotN was a game I really enjoyed on PS4, so I purchased Hollow Knight on switch but still have to try it out. I did start playing Metroid Dread but somehow didn't really get into it.
