If you like Japanese video games, you've come to the right place.
Hi, I'm Jimmy Hapa and this is Import Gaming FTW, a channel that is all about great Japanese video games!
I try to put out in-depth reviews and retrospectives that aim to generate interest in the game covered by exploring its history, story, gameplay features and legacy. I know "hidden gems" is thrown around a lot, but most of these games would fall under that category, in my humble opinion.
I have a second channel, the Import Gaming FTW Dump, where I upload old Japanese gaming media, mainly VHS tapes I've collected.
...and that's it. Thanks for stopping by, hope you'll make your way here again soon.

Oh wow this game looks amazing! I've never seen or even of heard of it before until now and I'm loving thr graphics in this game it looks awesome. Wondering if there's an english translation of this game now in 2024 ? Sure hope there is because I'd defs play it. Thanks for this video and introducing this game!
Haven't watched the port video yet, but I'm guessing the arcade version is easier then the PC Engine version. I have that version and thought it was really hard, maybe I just suck lol.
Pulirula has always been a guilty pleasure of mine since I found the arcade version in emulation over 20 years ago. These days, I have the Saturn version, and on PS2, on the Taito Memories compilations.
I first played the demo version and I was impressed. Glad I manage to finally beat it last year, and it was worth it. Cannot wait for it's sequel this year.
Amazing video for an amazing game. Longtime Pc Engine fan here. I've owned the games for years now. However, my japanese is pretty basic. However, thanks to the unofficial translation, I'm finally enjoying it, a lot I must say. I pray to any competent deity for the translation of the other two games...
I preferred Sailor Moon over Dragonball as well though I didn't start watching either until early high school/ I actually played the sailor moon arcade game for the first time years before seeing the show because a local amusement park had a machine. Mercury is my favorite of the team and I usually play as her in the games for that reason. Fortunately the high speed character is one of the types I really like using in beat em ups so this is a rare licensed beat em up where the stats of my favorite character match up with a playstyle I like.
I constantly search for Goemon merch of anything and consistently find nothing. I noticed you've shown more of your collection or have got some more figures, soundtracks cds and vinyls, etcetera. I see in 2019 they had some sort of official figures, I don't understand why I can't find anything. I find all types of crazy Japanese merch for obscure game characters, but the one that is in my top 3 special games of all time, I can't even find a picture of any of stuff you got. I can't narrow my search if I have no idea what exists, arrrgghh. Maybe one day I'll find any figures.
8:15. You mentioned a Super Potato. I bought Derodero Douchuu at a Super Potato in Osaka last year. I knew nothing about the store and just kinda wandered in when I saw it was a retro shop 😂
ayoooooooo wtf is this insane collection? I never knew about these other versions of Goemon, Im only familiar with Goemon Mystical Ninja for the 64. That game brings back memories of my childhood
Never heard of this game until this video popped up in my feed 15 minutes ago. Just ordered it off PlayAsia, and can’t wait to play it. Mystical Ninja was the game that got me into Japanese culture.
I just stumbled upon your video as I’m looking at interest in the Sailor moon r game for the Super famicom. When I saw your pic of Highlands intermediate, I see that you are an Oahu local like I am. I too went to Highlands intermediate and also a 93’ chargers graduate. Thanks for the review on each game. Thinking of purchasing the 1st sailor moon game and also R.
Just finished the game today. Bought it on sale for digitally for the Switch. The game gets better as you go. Got all 3 endings. North is my favorite track of this game.
Wow that’s crazy you collect all of Goemon! I collect everything Ninja! I have all the Shinobi titles, Ninja Gaiden, and Tenchu titles, I’m on my way to collect the Goemon series. I never knew Goemon was released on the Famicom. I remember Goemon the first time I ever played it was on the N64 Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. That game brings back childhood memories
This game was fun and creative, but combat became repetitive quite quick & some levels overstayed their welcome and I say that as someone that loves Wario World.
Really enjoyed this in depth review my friend, especially the little trick to beat Kat lol that was great. Haven't played or even seen this game before so I'm glad you brought it here. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I've never seen something worth of the title "hidden gem" like ender Lillies I played it after a year of it's release cuz I wasn't really interesting but after I did it became my favourite metroidvania ever Can't wait for ender magnolia
I'll never get tired of watching Ender Lillies reviews just because I had such a good time with it I want this game to reach as many people as possible. I myself am excited for the full release of Ender Magnolia and once a friend of mine finally finishes Hollow Knight I'll probably gift her this one next
Your description of the gameplay was hilarious in context. What you should have said is “this is a roguelike. An actual roguelike. Not like all those modern games that borrow one game mechanic but otherwise bear no resemblance to Rogue. Enough said.”
Why the « France of all places » comment? Do a little bit of research and you’ll find that while anime got big in America in the early 2000s, France started showing anime on its main TV networks in the late 70s. Sailor Moon was pretty big in France in the mid 90s, with the show being broadcast as part of the country’s most popular TV show (alongside DBZ and a bunch of other classic anime) and with Bandai releasing a bunch of toys in the country. France was also the only country to get localized Dragon Ball, DBZ, Saint Seiya, and Ranma 1/2 games on the NES and SNES.
for the game at 5:30, you should instead look for the prototype of the unreleased Tiny Toons game Tiny Toon Adventures: Defenders of the Universe, it has the same gameplay but with multiple playable characters, multiplayer versus, and a fully voiced 2P story mode.
Jimmy, this is definitely the most underrated gaming channel. Have been enjoying your content for years now. The videos I like the most are the ones focusing on Japan only- obscure retro titles. Please keep up with your great work!
They release (after the Promo Manga in the CoCo-Comics Issue of December 23) monthly in CoCo-Comics and as an addition to that as a standalone? Or do they release the standalone in bits in the Monthly comic?
