I was 23 when this song came out, I remember it well. Back then you could watch music videos on a really large video jukebox while waiting for your train in Penn Station, NY. I was an Endicott then and I remain an Endicott to this day, I'm glad I never compromised on that all these years later despite all of my ups and downs!
Endicott don't eat any sweet. Endicott don't eat piggy feet. This song is fun storytelling truly 80's all the way. My roomate laughed at me when I bought this album I have no regrets for spending the 8-10 bucks I paid for it love this song
Wow. Outrageously great. The late, great showman Cab Calloway once said that Kid Creole and the Coconuts' routines are the closest to what he did in his day in the 1930's and 40's.
One of the great music video productions of the MTV era. The tune and lyrics has stayed in my memory since I saw it one time during a retrospective in the mid 1980's. Few others have had the impact of this classic gem.
Crystal i agree with your comment , these guys are pure magic , its like watching a brilliant floor show , theirs so much to watch , i always wanted to be one of these gals xxlol Jane xx 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
I remember this video from when I was about 14. I loved it so much, I still don't understand why Kid Creole isn't more popular! I decided to look it, and it still sound just as good as back when I first heard it!
afrochickasaw he paid a price in America having white girls in the band.also though he had his concept before prince, lines got blurred and prince was bigger though August Darnell is just as talented imo
@@chewybunz that ain't what Wendy and Lisa said, if you listen to me softee and other things it's there, also Eric Leeds thought a great deal of kid creole,
@@mrmaxxx94 VERY different musical styles, and Prince was recording years before K.C & the Coconuts existed. Nobody cared that there were white women in the group. Their sound wasn't very commercial compared to much of what was on pop radio at the time.
Simply a wonderful production ! The entire team that put this together SHOULD have received an award it if did not. Well, why don't I do it now ! I award Kid Creole and the Coconuts for Endicott: Best Composition, Best Music Video, Best Production on behalf of all the fans out there.
37 years later & I still love this silly song , I can still remember back in the fall of 1986 watching this video in the mornings while getting ready for school
Sad to say but I am" Endicott" ....Great song, a classic, the showmanship, lyrics, beat this song has it all. Pure fun. ahhh to go back to those days. Great post Peace 2 ya
I saw this on Night Flight, and probably stayed up to watch the repeat. I didn't remember anything about the video, but I did remember the phrasing of the lyrics. I had not heard this in over 25 years. It's amazing how one song can get stuck in your head.
Crikey, I remember Night Flight! I remember so many songs that one would never hear on the radio. Fish heads comes to mind. Kid Creole was a bloody genius.
I had the priviledge of attending only 2 concerts of the Kid way back over 20 years ago wish I had seen more. Been listening to his music since 1982 when I was in high school. Oh yeah Endicott, you really appreciate this song once you get married and your wife starts comparing you to so and so's husband and how perfect he is to so and so. ARRRRUGGHHH!!!!!
50-year-old here. I used to hear this record regularly when I worked for Woolworths in London during 2001-2002 and I thought it stood out from the usual stuff that was on their PA system. And now, 20 years later, I watched a collection of French chart hits from 1985 and voilà! I finally get a name for that song and its performer! Merci beaucoup for such a funny, colourful and goofy video!
"Endicott don't eat no sweets.Endicott don't eat piggy feet."Hey I grew up on piggy feet my parents were from mississippi Endicott you don't know what your missing
You are welcome. I'm glad so many people have enjoyed the video. I remember people talking about Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and Kid Creole and the Coconuts so that originally made me interested in the group.
Carol Colman was soo great ♥... on this vid she "playes" a daphne blue Precision.. but by the sound of it, it is still her Jazz Bass.. her unmistakable, signature sound 🎸
Reminds me of my only one-night stand--my co-worker's younger sister, whom I fell in love with at first site. It was at my co-worker's Halloween Party (1986) and this song was playing when I met her. We danced, talked, drank (not like Endicott) all night and then went to bed and like Endicott, made love hard and long. I gave her my phone number after that and she said she would call. Well, I'm still waiting for that call 30 + years later! Also, a month later, my co-worker took a job on the East Coast (I was living in LA at the time) and I lost touch with him. But this song has special meaning for me.
thank you!! I've been trying to find this video literally all my life since it saw I once as a kid. tripped me out back then but I remembered the gist of it all these years
He Was the "Original" Even before..."Morris Day!" Yet very versatile! I Can't believe he's never mentioned in the line of Prince or Morris Day!! He was way before them!! I Loved this group. And those "Hott ladies!" The One reminds me of Alice on "The Honeymooners!"
As Kid Creole fan i watched this video in summer of 1985 and remembered only vivid colours. Then went to buy the LP in Trieste,Italy.Watching and listening this remember all that and finally realizzed how good this song is with full sound and evergreen lyrics. Thanks for posting!
I'll never be like Endicott......You God damn right! call it what you will but I lived my life on my own terms and I will proudly die with nothing in my name but a gracious heart and a lifetime of experiences.
I loved this song as a kid, and was always mystified as to why it wasn't more of a classic familiar eighties tune. It seemed to disappear after it's first cycle on Mtv, and I could never remember the name of the artist. But it would pop up in my head every few years. I think I even searched for it a couple for it a couple of times over the years to no avail. Long story short: This is a damn good song, haven't heard it in years, thanks for posting.
Did I like King Creole and The Coconuts? No, I loved 'em! The '80's was a great decade for me. Thanks for the upload of the original vid! Even more , I like his side kick.
Saw it was Kid Creole's birthday today. Happy Birhday Kid. One of the best original bands that came out of the very blah corporate rock 80s. I won a girls heart over (albeit for a very short passionate length of time) because I knew who Kid Creole was. I blamed it on "My Male Curiosity." What else could she expect
I was a big fan of Kid Creole and the Coconuts album "Wiseguy" from 1982. When this video came out around 85 I had a friend who used to ask me "Hey Brad you seen that Endicott video yet?" Not only had I never seen it but I never heard it until today. Sadly that friend died some years ago when he fell from a window 7 stories up. R.I.P. T.Y. Jordan. BTW ...I am a lot like Endicott.
"Endicott don't wear womens clothes, Endicott don't wear panty hose!..." LOL! We used to make up more crazy lyrics for this song, back when I was taking Radio Broadcasting in College. Really tho, the ACTUAL lyrics were plenty funny! Terrifically fun song and video! Great memories... THANKS FOR POSTING IT, to theinfluencer!
Truth is that the MTV world wasn't quite ready for an interracial and interethnic band like KC AND THE CCN's at the time when they were performing and planting live... They were much more well received in Europe than in the US... However, I remember seeing their performances and being blown away as a child.
How this didn’t do sooooo much better in the U.K. singles charts is beyond me. Same with classics like Dear Addy, which at least went Top 40 but deserved more. Talented guy. Glad to see on wiki he is doing well, loving in Maui, now aged 70. 😎👍🙏🏾👊🏽

Every bit as awesome today as 39 freakin years ago.
Bless Mr big I use to see him all the time in my hood harlem on 125st 8ve he had black Rose Royce with a 10 convertible top that said I see one on the license plates and then they would go down to a 116th street to the Royal flush on the corner 8th Avenue and a 116th street I love this man him and his brothers is always fly kind ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this track in the 80's and still love it. I'ts a banger. I love the concept. Ha ha. So many guys can relate to this. I'm a girl who loved the concept too. He some people are perfect and well other's are who they are. Both are fine. Just be authentic. Great song......
I heard this back in 1985 when I stayed with my uncle in East Cleveland (when East Cleveland was actually nice) and it stuck in my head. He had MTV and we didn't have cable The video, the song. I love it. It's catchy as hell.
THANK YOU !!!!! I've been looking for this video for years !!! I've allways loved this song, when i listen to it i'm immediately in a good mood, ready to party !! :))
Yeah, I remember that too. I think it was called New York Hot Tracks. It was filmed from a popular nightclub in New York with people dancing in the background. It showcased R&B and latin freestyle music videos. They showed videos that never would have made it on MTV. That show got me interested in freestyle music and going to latin/ hispanic clubs. Ahhh the memories of the 80's.
I remember watching this video on America's Top 10 with Kasey Kassem. I'm also loved to watch New York Hot Tracks with host Carlos Dejesus. I didn't need MTV due to the fact they focused on Rock Music and too much of R and B. To Watch the latest Hip Hop and R and B videos New York Hot Tracks and Video Music Box was the joint back in the day.
