Opening up with "Come back" and Cloud's soft "Aerith" is deadly

what solidifies the relationship between Aerith and Cloud is not a dating scene or whatever because a lot of it is optional so it depends on the player who you want to ship Cloud with. What makes me sure that they are canon is the main story and the final scene where Cloud breaks down while holding Aerith, he loses the will to fight Sephiroth even though Sephiroth attacks him, he does't care he just want to protect her. only after Aerith wakes up and reassures him that she is okay does Cloud regain his composure and fight Sephiroth. I think Aerith is protecting Cloud from the grief of her death.

Oh and in the Japanese Cloud says "Wait for me" instead of "I got this"

The promise at the end doesn't make sense here's the direct translation from Japanese Cloud : Ā isoide sefirosu o sagashidashite taosu (I'll hurry up, find sephiroth and defeat him) Aerith : Kitto da yo (I'm sure of It) Cloud : Kitto da (For sure) Also you were wondering about what was cloud saying when he was getting flashbacks while holding Aerith, here's the Dev's words Interviewer: That's another thing I was curious about. In the original game, Cloud has that memorable line: "My fingertips are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!" However, it would seem those lines aren't spoken this time... Nojima: For my part, I felt that things like "tingling" and "burning" could be conveyed purely through the visual elements of the production, and that there was no need for them to be expressed through dialogue. I figured that even if the lines were absent, people familiar with the original game would be able to hear Cloud's voice clearly in their head. Toriyama: I can't say much about that sequence of scenes, as I want to encourage a variety of interpretations from those who see them. However, I will say that after consulting with Nomura, we settled on an approach where we inserted a sort of flashback scene where you can see Cloud shouting those lines from the original game.

So, here is my personal theory on what is going on with aerith at the end and where the future game might go. I know some people will disagree, but this is my theory. I believe Cloud is seeing aerith really there at the end. However, it's the aerith from the timeline/"world" that he created by blocking sephiroth's sword. There is evidence to support this. Like -sephiroth wanting cloud to help him defy destiny and telling cloud he had his blessing and he'd need a final push to join him in defying destiny and merging timelines, - how it had the new timeline rainbow efect when cloud blocked sephiroth's sword, - how aerith tells cloud "i saw what you did back there. Thanks," - how the scene changed when cloud walked past the circle of white whispers surrounding aerith at the end(before walking by them, the group was around aerith. After walking through the whispers, nobody is around), - how the wind from the bronco was blowing aerith's hair, - how aerith was still standing there saying goodbye after cloud and the others had already flown away, and even more that i cant think of right now off the top of my head. The third game will involve zack trying to make cloud better so that he can save aerith. Not a lot of people seem to remember, but marlene told zack that cloud couldnt save her until hes better. This *has* to have payoff later on. Zack will help to make cloud better so that he can save the aerith from the timeline he made by blocking sephiroth's sword. Then, aerith will be permanently back(she's obviously coming back. She didn't even get her true final weapon in this game) and cloud and aerith will be reunited(theres so much foreshadowing for them being reunited).

Loveless, no promises to keep and hollow give me hope for Cloud and Aerith in part 3. the developers love making those 2 pookies yearn for each other. Part 3 we will be seeing hollow and no promises to keep play out. But for now our 2 lovebirds will be separated from each other, but their reunion will be the most anticipated and beautiful reunion in part 3. Cloud has Aerith hollow white materia(definitely something important) he also has the black materia(we know where he’s taking that). Zack being alive is an indicator that the devs want to end this trilogy differently than og ff7. We saw him interact with Cloud for a bit, we need more of it in part 3. The English localization 🤦 Cloud and Aerith didn’t make a promise in Japanese. They said: Cloud: I will find and defeat Sephiroth, Aerith: are you sure? Cloud: I’m sure of it. Aerith didn’t say “you promise” and Cloud didn’t say “promise”. 🤦

Only just started, but something that always stood out to me in the crawling scene is how it feels similar to the beginning, him crawling in Nibelheim. Cloud desperately trying to reach someone but unable to. Not sure if it's a parallel the devs meant to be there, but I found it interesting nonetheless.

A few details that could help in understanding the ending: -In 30:29 you only see blood in his gloves when it shows the flashbacks to OG (where he rages at Sephiroth since in Rebirth he cries) -In 31:04 Aerith has lifestream particles around her, these particles aren’t seen latter in 1:51:02 when she wakes up, my interpretation is that the Aerith from earlier is the one that died as trying to protect Cloud mental health by projecting via lifestream while the latter is from the world he saved. There is no LS particles coming from this one and Red felt her so it can’t be Clouds imagination or a ghost Aerith. -33:24 Cloud is the only party member to not have LB, usually limit breaks charges when having strong emotions but since Cloud sees Aerith alive he doesn’t have any. -In 1:49:44 dead Aerith is on the side while the alive Aerith is in the same position as Cloud left her, also worth noticing how everyone disappears and there is the rainbow effect when Cloud gets near that Aerith. -In 1:52:29 the flashback to Aerith’s death is pink just like the one that woke Cloud up when he was being controlled by Sephiroth at the end of chapter 13 after this flashbacks he starts seeing Aerith. -In 1:58:15 it says “Nibelheim the next day” this will be important latter. -In 1:59:31 we have Cid asking about what Aerith was trying to do at the temple that’s because no one does, in the original no one in the party knows about her goal her and it becomes a plot point in disc 2 (the part of the game that’s left) however here Cloud knows because he knows she will return to the temple and talks about stopping Meteor with her prayer but Cloud doesn’t question this and like I said at this point in the Og game he shouldn’t know any of this, remember when I said “Nibelheim the next day” being important? That’s because from the moment Aerith and Cloud walked outside of the temple a whole day went happened which explains why Cloud knows more things than he should at this point of the game as Aerith could’ve explained to him why she needed to stay. -This one is important and I like that you noticed it since not many do, at 1:59:35 everyone reacts to the bronco explosion except Aerith (she doesn’t notice neither her dress moves while Caith cape does) you can see Aerith looking at everyone surprised by this, latter in 2:03:30 you can see Aerith reaction to the bronco turbines and she looks surprised (unlike the first time she notices and her dress moves, these movement remain this way for the rest of the ending) so things to notice here: when she’s with the party she didn’t react to the things around her as if she wasn’t part of that world but when she is around Cloud she reacts and notices said things. -Like you said the whole “do you promise” part doesn’t make sense with the song and the ending line but that’s is because they added it in localization as in the Japanese’s version this interaction is something along the lines of: *Cloud talks about defeating Sephiroth* Aerith: You can? Cloud: off course I can. There is no mention of promises in the Japanese version. -“No promises await at journeys”Nomura said it means that the ending is not decided but he also leaves it open for interpretation, an interesting detail is that Nojima when writing NPTK said that “That fate is its own “promise”, if you will, one she's been held captive by-one she wants to escape” meaning that "no promises await at journeys end" could also be interpreted as Aerith being free from her fate.

Your playthrough is definitely the most interesting one i've seen. I didn't want to skip anything because you always had something interesting to say. Your analyzations of the relationships and feelings between all the characters, the theories, predictions. I also like how much you seem to value healthy relationships. It's something I can't help but find important even in fictional stories because of the impact unhealthy relationships have negatively effected my real life. I actually think it could help some people in real life just hearing you point out what's healthy and unhealthy in relationships. And it was so nice to see how much you cared for all the characters. It's also very clear how much you are into the whole story. There are a lot of people who aren't really. This was my first playthrough of yours I've watched. Can't wait to see you playthrough more games!

I have sooo much to say about the ending and I don't think it all fits into a youtube comment, haha. I was super bothered by the promise at the end too (and I still am). It gave me a lot of negative vibes. BUT! In the Japanese, they actually never promise. I think Aerith asks him "For sure?" and he says: "For sure." or something. Aaaand I watched an interview in which the devs talked about the meaning of No Promises to Keep and they said something along the lines of Aerith's fate and duty as a Cetra being sort of a "Promise" that she has to keep. Ever since I saw that, that one ending line of "No Promises await" became really positive to me. I'm hoping it means that in the end, Aerith will sort of be "freed" from her duties and fate (in a hopeful happy ending). And I'm soooo happy that you don't just think that Cloud is delulu. I've watched so many streamers who just went: "Yeah, she's dead, Cloud is crazy." And that theory makes me so sad because there is SOOOOO much in this ending that this theory disregards. It's so boring lol. Absolutely no way for Cloud to "hallucinate" a whole multiverse, for him to see a strange rift in the sky, for Zack to be talking about worlds merging and reuniting when Cloud isn't even there, Red feeling her at the end and so much more when the conclusion was just: "oh yeah, Cloud is even crazier now, he has hallucinations." I totally agree that Cloud might see two worlds. Apart from all the "obvious" reasons: in that scene at the lake when Cloud has that flashback, he actually always has the Buster Sword and not the sword that you equip. To me, that's a sign that that was a different world (maybe OG) and that Cloud's memories are sort of "merging" because of Sephiroth. It's the same with Aerith's actual deaths: In one, Cloud says the words that he said during OG too. The "And if I said I wasn't?" dialogue at the end killed me. It was one of my favourite scenes in Remake already. I died when she said that again. AND THEN THE CLOUD SMILE OMFG. That was the best Cloud smile ever man. I rewatched that so many times just to see Cloud smile (imagine if he actually was delulu lol. He's like the happiest he's ever been at the end). I personally love the ending and all the theorycrafting you can do with it. I've rewatche it like 30 times now and still find new details every now and then haha (oh, speaking of detail: Did you notice that Aerith is lying on her side first after the final battle when the others run to her, then she's suddenly lying on her back when Cloud approaches? -cough- different worlds -cough-). Aaaaand their final battle against Sephiroth and the handhold after that :')) I REALLY NEED PART 3 SO MUCH! I also have a theory for Tifa in part 3 if you are interested. Well... a lot of questions, right? Well, you're right about the "promises" at the end... there's a lot of speculation about these last lines between CLoud and Aerith and if you look in Japanese the dialog is different and makes more sense. There's some controversy about some of the dialog in English... it's a bit different from the Japanese (original). A lot has happened in the last three hours of the game. Obviously I have some concerns because there seem to be too many questions to answer... I want to believe that Square knows what it's doing with this story. My faith is that... I hope to see Aerith in some form in the third game. Because one thing's for sure! Cloud managed to deflect Sephiroth's sword and that caused something !!! he changed fate !!! maybe he created a world where she's alive... that's what I hope. What's more, both games (remake and rebirth) have themes (songs) that give hope that things might be different now... and now a wish of mine !!! I need to see Aerith meet the real Cloud in the next game...after everything I've seen and how this story is being told, Cloud and Aerith need to have their moment, a moment like Tidus and Yuna had in FFX. I went into this trilogy with no preference between Tifa and Aerith... but as the story went on I always saw a special chemistry between Cloud and Aerith, as if they were two pieces that complemented each other... and I started rooting for them both because I think that's what the story is telling me. Obviously I'm a little worried that Square might do some fanservice with the hightwing scene between Cloud and Tifa... we both know that Tifa is very popular, but at this point I don't think there's any going back. After everything I've seen, if CLoud now suddenly turns to Tifa in the last game, I'll be tremendously disappointed because I think that's going against the story that's being told.

No more Rebirth makes me sad, but I'm interested in the next game you decide to pick up! The character writing, the story, music, additions,direction-all of it pitch perfect-this is what it means to be a true RPG, and this deserves GOTY for sure. I didn't comment on the last video because I watched that one and this one together and grabbed snacks! The church scene with Aerith when she pushes Cloud and the Gongaga bedroom scene with Tifa are the best directed scenes in the game. They are just beautiful. The happiness of thinking we finally saved Aerith only for her to be snatched away again hurts for sure. I wasn't expecting that turn of events to make Cloud look a bit unstable near the end; he clearly needs help. Disregarding ships, I've always seen Aerith as a sort of mother figure that Cloud needed since Claudia is dead. She's always been guiding him in a specific way; she's very forward, which takes Cloud by surprise, but she's also very tender and doesn't tackle his mental state; rather, she does what she thinks is best, which is suggesting he take care of it for himself and encouraging him to remember who he truly is. She is a special person, not just in his life but for the entire party. That's another reason why I'm excited for Tifa's next game. Her development is the most intriguing because it's her learning to become less reserved and more forward, similar to Aerith. What Aerith could not do in her short time, Tifa will rise up and take on, and she will carry that burden with Cloud. We have theories that part 3 could start with Rocket Town, but I'm curious where you think part 3 could start. Overall amazing 10/10 game I'm happy to see different opinions from the general public in my feed! 2:04:49 Also, yes, that's because there was no promise made at the end. For some reason, SENA loves to do this weird thing with their translation and change subtext. In JP Aerith told Cloud, "I know you will beat him," rather than her making a promise, which kind of defeats the purpose of the song. (I wish they found a way to adapt the JP lines better in English for a lot of Rebirth scenes, but oh well.)

The parallels between Cloud reaching for his mom in Nibelheim and Aerith in the Forbidden Forest hurt my soul💔 I suspect that the whispers blocked their fall or transported them to safety🤔 Maybe Aerith lied to the others about what happened with Sephiroth because Cloud needs all the support he can get right now and the last thing he needs is for the others to doubt him. I really like the little talks with the others on the way to the Forgotten Capital. Interesting, how only Nanaki and Cloud could see the whispers leading them... The Advent Children OST that plays when you reach the Forgotten Capital always hits me in the feels. To me, it seems like the whispers colors represent different connections. Black - Sephiroth Grey - the planet, fate White - Aerith It almoat seems like Cloud controlled the black whispers when they destroyed the wall of whispers. Only when he said Aerith's name did this happen. It is so sad, getting to hear Aerith's prayers. She loves the others so much... It seems like what happened to Aerith has something to do with the reunion of worlds. I really hope he saved her😭 Square Enix, pls let them be happy🙏 Atp I'm pretty much convinced that Jenovaroth killed Aerith in both the OG and Rebirth. In both games you immediately fight Jenova after Aerith's death. In Japanese, Cloud tells Aerith to wait for him instead of "I got this". Also, I need to mention how Cloud's face screams "I love you more than anything".. The fighting cutscene in the Jenova fight is so awesome and cool😎 You joking about Cloud being busy stealing "Zack's girl" is actually on point. In Japanese, Zack tells Cloud that he kinda hates him a little😅 I adore Zack & Cloud fighting together. Sephiroth saying it was easy for him to turn his back on SOLDIER is actually kinda understandable. To Shinra, he was nothing more than an experiment and a tool to be used. Sephiroth never joined SOLDIER willingly, unlike Zack. He never had a choice in the matter. The SOLDIER honor scene with Cloud & Zack is epic! I appreciate how Aerith helps Zack, even if she doesn't have romantic feelings for him anymore. It shows that she still cares for him and that he will always be an important person in her life🥺 Aerith returning to fight Sephiroth with Cloud is easily one of the top 10 moments in the Final Fantasy series. It says a lot, when even Sephiroth admits to have underestimated you😮 Aerith still trying to appeal to Sephiroth's humanity is beautiful. She doesn't see him as a monster, but as a human being. Like she said, forgiveness is the key and an important power. She clearly believes that Sephiroth can still be saved. And I trust her judgement. Lol, not Sephiroth flying away. Aerith & Cloud are such a power couple. And the intertwined fingers😍 Man, the parallels between Barret & Myrna and Cloud & Aerith are killing me. Them cradling their lovers bodies and telling them to wake up. Not Barret putting on his sunglasses 🕶 when he cries. They really are there to cover up his emotions... Interestin, how Cloud's buster sword lies between Tifa & him. A metaphor for their emotional distance, perhaps? Man, poor Tifa. Babygirl just can't catch a break. She just lost her best friend and then Cloud is mentally fucked up😑 Man, Glenn-Sephiroth really had Rufus acting up😶 Seeing Rufus lose control of a situation like this is very unexpected. The colors of the weapons are interesting. Blue & pink. Who do they remind me of again? Seems like the black cloaked are heading towards the Northern Crater. Nanaki sensing Aerith is interesting. Too many people actually believe Cloud imagined her. Aww, the Remake callback is so cute🥰 You can tell how sad Aerith is about not being able to join Cloud on his journey. That mistranslation at the end gave me whiplash😂 In Japanese, Aerith just asks Cloud if he's sure and he answers that he is. Interesting how there is a black spot in the ending credits🤨

Zack and Aerith in the same timeline, i hope it ❤️

So many feelings, so many thoughts, so many questions. And so many tears. And some really awesome moments. Seeing Zack and Cloud together, and Zack impressed by Cloud taking charge. Like proud papa seeing how far his son has come. And when Aerith showing up for the final battle, still gives me the chills. The main questions are still the same. What is the nature of the connection between the original game and the remake? How they are linked? How many Aeriths are there and which ones we were seeing in the different moments? Why does Cloud see these flashbacks, and what are they exactly? I firmly believe that Cloud managed to stop Sephiroth, and created another world where Aerith is alive. There are too many things happening in the ending to explain it as simply Cloud's delusions. Even more, JRPG developers have no problem giving us emotionally devastating endings, but I don't remember them trolling their players. So, after so many hints about fighting fate, not letting go this time, meeting again - I don't see them saying "haha, we fooled you, Aerith is dead and Cloud sees her because he's insane". And Marlene saying to Zack that he needs to save Cloud so that Cloud can save Aerith. But Zack still didn't save Cloud, so I also believe that it will happen in the future. I am very curious to see your analysis of the ending and your theories 😊. Are you familiar with the game Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma? In this game there are multiple worlds and characters find a way to move their consciousnesses between these worlds.

Cloud did save her but in another timeline. Here's the proof. 20:36 Cloud enters the portal to another timeline just like the one in Remake when the whole party entered another world where Midgar got destroyed in the battle. This time Cloud enters by himself though. 28:26 Notice the rainbow aura when Cloud's hands are freed, just like whenever Zack made a choice that created branches in the timeline. 28:58 That whole wall separating realities disappears after Cloud saves Aerith which is when the fuckery starts happening with her dying but not dying. In one reality she didn't, the one only Cloud entered. But in one reality she did die, and that's what everyone else sees.

And the journey is over for now. Honestly there are so many different theories, I don't know which one to believe.

You never meet 'actual' Sephiroth in remake or Rebirth. As for Aerith... pretty sure she's dead - but not gone.

I was a late joiner to your videos--it was your Gongaga analysis video that drew me in. I really enjoyed your reactions and analysis as you played through! The ending broke me on my run too. I wasn't able to make sense of anything until I'd calmed down after a rewatch. I'm firmly in the "Aerith lives" camp afterwards. The rainbows felt like a huge giveaway, but even before that it looked like Sephiroth fused two worlds and pushed cloud into that one after the Sector 5 church. Then they start up again when Cloud blocks the sword and they fade out only when the perspective changes. The static flashes where Sephiroth did kill her usually mean Jenova AND the rainbows disappeared, but come right back when we snap back to Cloud and Aerith. Honestly, her passing out just feels like a follow-up from her getting really weak when using her Cetra abilities in the Temple of the Ancients. After the fights the perspective is from Tifa's point of view and the rainbows are gone, though she seems to have static flashes of both. But as soon as Cloud is back so are the rainbows. And with the "dying world" cracks it seems like Cloud is halfway in a world where Aerith lives (which isn't supposed to happen hence the broken sky) and halfway in a timeline similar to the OG. Looking forward to your next analysis videos and after that I'll be back for Part 3 for sure.

You can tell what 'world' they are in by the type of dog that Stamp is shown as on the potato chip packages. Also the bags have a different # of stars on them for each world. For example the world of Aerith's 'dream date' with Cloud is not the same one that Zach was shown in most of the game.

This is my take on the song "No Promises to Keep": If you compare the two interviews that are commonly cited about the song "no promises to keep" (between Nobuo Uematsu and Loren Allred) and the interview done on the square enix music youtube channel, it is clear that the song has elements of Aerith thinking of her relationship to everyone and her "promise," which has to do with fulfilling her role as the only cetra left. This, of course, went against her desires to remain with everyone else, and most especially, the one who impacted her life the most after the many years that have passed since Zack's death (the fact that cloud changed her life quite literally when they met on loveless street). This also clearly makes it a love song to Cloud, whom she met on worn cobblestones on loveless avenue in sector 8 and continues to reiterate such a theme centered around various "chance" moments that ultimately were fated to be. Thus, while it is clear that the creators wished to also show Aerith's relationship to all of her friends (Tifa, Yuffie, Barret, etc), former lover (zack) [mostly in the sense that she refers to a period of years before she met cloud, likely correlating also to her frame of mind of moving on from Zack], and current lover (cloud, as she is putting behind her the former love she had for Zack after 5 years) in defining particular moments, it is evident that they also do not deny the love song aspect about the song that speaks not only to everyone, but is undeniably mostly focused on cloud in the lyrics. Most of the lyrics of the song bear in mind specific instances in Aerith's life and its clear that we are seeing her heart and her love for everyone she has met, but it is also evident that the lyrics point to a specific love for Cloud that is undeniably meant to give off a romantic tone. So, I can understand why the creators in the interview on Square Enix's Music youtube channel wanted to predominantly focus on Aerith's relationship with everyone, but it is exactly her relationship with cloud that has also given her the ability to also connect with others associated with him, which, of course, involved falling for him and moving on from the flying years that passed by like tumbleweeds until she met Cloud. Thus, the beauty of the piece is that Aerith's life literally changed so much because of a chance (fated) encounter with Cloud not just because of developing romantic feelings for him but also because of the friends that she also makes by associating with him, which is why it is both a love song to Cloud (in a more intimate sense) and to everyone (in a more familial sense, "life is about the people that you meet along the way" kind of logic). Remember, Aerith really didn't have friends growing up, so her making friends with not just a potential lover but also others as well brought so much more richness into her life that she wanted to protect it but was also grieved by the fact that such a protection would lead ultimately to her death since her role as the last cetra led to such a path. Regardless, I am a clerith shipper, but I do want to also bring out the other nuances that the creators also wished to point out [as far as I can discern] as well since they are ultimately all tied to the main protagonist (cloud), which is also how Aerith's friendships are also tied to (by her being a part of Cloud's life and group). Of course, Aerith did indeed cherish Zack 5 years ago and still does in a different sense in the present, but her romantic feelings have clearly shifted from Zack to Cloud (but not in the sense that she loves Cloud because he acts somewhat like Zack, but instead for who he really is) and this song describes how this has happened alongside the friends that she made along this journey. Perhaps the rest of the lyrics of the song is played at the end as an expression of what has happened to her throughout her life and then what her hopes are for the day that Cloud finally finds her at their place once again.

Ff7r "multiverse" is different, not like the MCU multiverse or anything like that, the dev has confirmed that, and it's called a "world" not a "timeline". so I think the aerith that helps cloud defeat sephiroth at the end of the story is lifestream aerith (her consciousness), reminds me of the aerith that talks to cloud in advent children. And I think the aerith at the end of the fight with sephiroth (the scene in the lake) is not the real aerith(perhaps its jenova manipulation), depending on the shooting angle, music choice, which looks scary and mysterious. And the next scene after that we see someone who is actually manipulated by jenova/sephiroth to start a war between shinra and wutai. I dont know, it could be wrong, just share some thought

Aerith's ending may have implications for Loveless and the two theme songs. But no matter what, Aerith will definitely reappear, and there are still many mysteries surrounding her that need to be explained. 30:18 I do wanna point out that Cloud’s voice actor did apparently recorded grieving dialogs for this moment! Yeah it’s not just a cut animated mouth sequence. In fact they were buzzing about good his crying performance was! But they deliberately cut out what he was saying to save it for part 3. So with that in mind I really can’t wait to see how they recap this moment in greater clearer depth. If they do what I think they are setting up in the first place, it’s gonna be really chilling. Literally to remind players this is a sucky loss. And you will feel that weight. :p

there is a theory, the Aerith we saw in the last scenes was Jenova, trying to trick Cloud ("...can become those you love"). She acted so weird at the end. What do you think?

The scenes before @1:50:09 is the main timeline of FF7 Rebirth where Aerith is dead. Cloud actually saved her but Sephiroth used his power to changed the fate and killed her. However the scene @1:50:10 is a different timeline. Lots of people missed the detail but as Cloud is walking, a white whisperer passed by, which indicates a shift to a different timeline. And the party is not around except for Cloud and Aerith. Aerith is ALIVE in this different timeline. After this, the game goes back to original FF7 Rebirth timeline where everyone is grieving her death except Cloud.

Red XIII "sensing" Aerith is a red herring. In the original game the two people Jenova tricks in the main party are Red XIII and Cloud. Jenova/Sephiroth are taking on the appearance of Aerith in his mind so they can mess with Cloud super hard in the next game. Notice how Aerith at the end is all like "you promise?" when Cloud says he's going to get Sephiroth, when earlier the real Aerith told him to forget Sephiroth and focus on himself. In the original game Cloud sees Aerith die and accepts it, but in Rebirth, Sephiroth is messing with him way more and now Cloud is even more of a puppet than originally.

Great video. You’re right: you don’t have a story without Aerith (and Cloud and Sephiroth). They are the core of the story. If you don’t believe me ask yourself if AC could have existed without Aerith and Sephiroth.

Remake Aerith died, but the moment Cloud saw Sephiroth falling, his sword glow and with the rainbow around he created a world where Aerith survives in his world. Cloud i think can see Lifestream and alive Aerith in the same time which is why he is not bothered. Also the reason i see Aeriths Date in Gold Saucer as canon is because Cloud smiles a lot more after she made him clear she is over Zack and their last date, despite Cloud thinking she is acting weird, not knowing Sephiroth is breathing on her back, her confessing her love to him he understood very well, which is why he looks with big eyes at her. The final fight remember me on Link, Zelda and Ganondorf from so many Zelda games which i find it cool. x3 In the OG it is said that only Aerith brings out Cloud to show his rare smile. Also Tifa in OG mentioned that Cloud changed, he was quite but after Aeriths death he became even more quiter as if he lost a part of himself. Nojima himself said that in Advent Children, because of Aerith its very difficult for Cloud and even without Geostigma, there is a slim chance him getting together with Tifa. Maybe if Denzel and Marlene helps out. He also said that Maybe with Aerith there would be a better chance. Also Nojima wrote in his book One way to smile which is i think after Dirge of Cerberus that Tifa asked him if he loves her. Cloud was "What?" Tifa changed to "Do you love Marlene" as if she thought he wasnt listening. Cloud agreed, he loves Marlene but dont know how to handle her. Then later she asked Cloud if she and Marlene arent enough(Sexist Tifa forgetting Denzel exist too. xD) and guess what, Cloud stays silent he dosent answer. It is clear that even tough it is 3 years since Aerith passed, while still living as ghost in his concious which also was confirmed in Advent Children and OG, that he didnt move on from Aerith he still loves her. In the Advent Children Credits that sadly was recently removed(Aerith scene to give the illusion she reunited with Zack in the Lifestream), Aerith was standing in the flower field which is very japanese. One Piece made that joke in Drum Island, Usopp and Zoro talked about a flower field and River which is for us, when we are close dying, we see a light. But in Japanese culture they see a flower field and a river. Aerith was standing in the middle of the flower fielt. Nojima or other said that Aerith was seeing Cloud, she felt loneliness, but then she smiled. Yes its a sad ending which is why we all hope that Cloud and Aerith can be happy and maybe Denzel can be Aerith and Clouds Biological son this time in a world where he isnt yet born?Aerith saying "Its like a secound home" is what she said in the Clouds Resolution scene, which means, she dosent really mean it. The ending "No promises awaits at the end of Journey" makes sense in Japanese. Because Aerith didnt say "You pomise" she encouraged him instead Cloud that he will do it, win over Sephiroth i think.

Finishing this one left me empty for a few days, just knowing how long it was going to be to get to the finale didn't help, but it was a hell of a game and a hell of a finish. That final battle series start with the Aerith theme never fails to have that emotional impact- its sad, but there is that resolve that comes up that makes you dig in your heels and throw everything you got at Jenova and Sephiroth. Really have that hope for part 3. We can defy fate, we can find a better ending. Aerith's doing her part, now its up to the rest of the party, and as long as their hearts still beat and their lungs still draw breath, I think they will keep trying for that victory.

I want to thank you for an amazing entertaining journey! You are an amazing lets player and even tolarate people like me blabbering in the comments😂 I hope aerith has a big part in the third game. I wish there will not be some multiverse "aerith is now alive and back" stuff because it woud diminish the death of her. If they want aerith alive cloud shoud have saved her imho. I still want her to have a big part. I personally dont like multiverse stuff because nothing has a real consequence and big story beats lose their meaning. Just my 2 cents. For the ending i think lifestream aerith is really there and at the same time cloud cant accept her death thats why we dont see the burial scene or hear what he says do aerith when he holds her in his arms. cody christian reavealed in his interview they already have the voicelines from that scene where he holds her. Probably we will see it when cloud gets his lifestream moment. Dont get me wrong there is much stuff we dont really know and there is a lot of stuff happening thats not just cloud lost it. You want me to break your heart more? Do you? OF COURSE YOU DO. Remember the part where Sephiroth swings his blade and splashes Cloud with Aerith's blood? This is likely a calculated attempt to drive Cloud and Tifa apart, because THIS Sephiroth knows what happens in the OG timeline, and knows that Tifa is necessary to restore Cloud's memories. So what does he do? He frames Cloud for Aerith's murder! Conveniently, Cloud has shown several times that he is very capable of going batshit insane and killing people in cold blood. And now, he's covered in Aerith's blood, and that look as Tifa runs up the stairs tells me 'He didn't actually do it...did he?' And she's so confused and heartbroken that she says nothing at all after the final boss fight. Nothing. Not a damn thing. (not to mention THE LOOK.) She's always in Cloud's corner. She's always supporting and caring and loving everyone she can for the simple reason that she can. But even Tifa has a breaking point. And I think we found it.

My take is that Cloud actually really saved Aerith, but Sephiroth corrected that by overlapping 2 worlds and centering Cloud's consciousness in the one, where Cloud didn't succeed. In the world where he saved her, he is alone, because the rest of the team never made it through that portal at the entrance, while in the other one, where Aerith died, the team catches up to him because the whispers simply faded. I cannot help but thinking, that this is the push, Sephiroth was talking about. He will probably use the fact, that Aerith is alive, to force Cloud under his will and help him with the reunion of worlds, if Cloud ever wants to have Aerith alive and well by his side. Should Cloud refuse and compromise Sephiroths plan, he will save the planet from Sephiroths's domination but as a result he will never see Aerith alive again, other than in his dreams and transcendental moments.

I found your channel by chance while scrolling through the RU-vid home page and really enjoyed your analysis of the gongaga scene, which made me start following your work, and I really enjoyed your style, a very charismatic, intelligent and with an enviable ability to capture even the smallest details, not to mention that you are very cute. Keep going and you'll go far, congratulations on the work. Seeing Cloud and Zack fighting side by side made me think about how strong Cloud is, he had no training, no one to teach him how to fight and yet his strength and power is equivalent to or even surpasses Zack's power, who had all the mentoring and training not only from Angeal but also the basic training of every soldier. I keep thinking how powerful Cloud could be if he had had a master who trained him and taught him how to control this power, just like Zack had. I may be getting ahead of myself but I think he would be a monster because he's so strong. Anyway, just a delusion I had here.

FF7 Remake was my first experience with FF7 and it was also my second FF Game ever after FF13. I never played the Original before. I also played Crisis Core Reunion and FF7 Rebirth. I liked all of them so seeing you playing those games was really nice. I tried to play the Original FF7 as well before Rebirth came out but I really got lost on the Map so often and the gameplay wasn’t mine that I stopped playing it. But I really liked the story so maybe I will watch some day another’s Playthrough of it. As for the Story: I don’t think that Aerith is really dead tho. They already confirmed like multiple worlds, so as how I understood is that in one World she probably died just like in the OG and in the other she was saved by Cloud. Because in this game every time when someone makes a choice a new World gets created with the Rainbow Effect. This happened because in the Remake we destroyed the Arbiter of Fate and as Aerith explained in the Remake that would change everything. What I am still wondering about is if the Whispers in the Remake where the once from the Planet/Fate or if they were already with Sephiroth because in the Remake we only had the Black Whispers that are of course with Sephiroth as said in this game. And the White Whispers I think are the Aerith Ones. The question is where the Whispers splitted into Black and White Ones after we defeated the Arbiter of Fate in Remake or where the Black Whispers in Remake already with Sephiroth because that could explain why he wanted us to beat him in the Remake so the White Materia could be made empty. Maybe that way also the White Whispers were born I don’t know. But from my understanding Sephiroth and Aerith both try to manipulate fate. As for Cloud my theory is that he is the only one who can the see the Alternate Aerith that she got saved because he was the only one that grossed the barrier of the Whispers this time and was also the only one who was in Aerith‘s Dream World there and had the Alternate Worlds experience. Aerith could also be just the Livestream One or just Cloud‘s Imagination but I don’t think that’s true because Red XIII/Nanaki could also sense her in the end. So I am pretty sure we will see Aerith again in Part 3! Just how tho is the Question?

As many have already mentioned, yeah the ending lines (like with Remake) don’t match up with the Japanese translation. However, like with Remake’s ending, I think they’ll probably go back and change it when part 3 drops. This was always, to me, meant to be Aerith’s game. Obviously the whole cast is important and they did a great job with all of their characters, but when they teased when this part would end, it made it even more important to me that it did justice for Aerith and I think ultimately it did. Also, while Cloud can see the rift at the end, I feel like Aerith has been seeing it since the end of Remake. She would keep looking up at the sky, asking where Midgar was, and from the pocket dimension we see the rift over Midgar. Now that Cloud has been there, that’s one of the reasons I believe he can now see it at the end too. The other being, he’s now traveled the Lifestream just as Aerith and Sephiroth have. I do believe Aerith is alive on a different world, but not necessarily the Remake world. I believe the devs stated in the Ultimania that she stopped Sephiroth from merging worlds and that the rifts in the sky are supposed to be seen as a mark of the world ending soon. Don’t quote me on that though, I’m trying to remember off the top of my head 😂 Love hearing all your theories and let that ending video be as long as it takes! I look forward to hearing your thoughts after you’ve gone through everything (which will take a TON of rewatches 😂). There’s a lot there to analyze and think about and the best part is right now, they can all be true. Loved your gameplay! Looking forward to future videos!

I really enjoyed watching your gameplay throughout the game. I also enjoyed watching the video all the analysis of the different scenes . It's really nice to see someone who really understands the characters in this game, by the way I just love the interaction between Cloud and Aerith, they dynamic is so much cute and fun to see. Here cames my theory about the remakes series The concept here that they are using in the remake is much more metaphysical and spiritual and related to the lifestream, rather than timeline in the Marvel sense. I would say that the worlds that they are showing us are inside the lifestream and are made of memories, experiences from all the people who died. These worlds even if they are made of memories can have a physical representation. That's why Sephiroth call it son's of Gaia because literally are a worlds that live inside the planet. If that is true the devs are just expanding the concept of the lifestream and touching one of the main themes of the game such as life and death from a more philosophical point of view. But it's not the first time that they used this concept in FF series it's the same that they use in FFX don't wanna spoil anything but for those who have play it should know what I am talking about. This also explain what is the materia like Red said in costa del sol, they are made of memories, experiences ... and also why they didn't just resurrect Zack and Biggs in another "timeline" they are currently living in the lifestream. That would also explain the date dream why Aerith at the very end of the date can manipule the element of the church. Okey, how then why are we able to see the other world in the end ? Just very simple because Sephiroth summon it with the materia he get on the ancient temple, which is not the black Materia like Aerith said before. There are a few more things that am certain about the third part, honestly It's going to be heartbreaking to watch when : SPOILER from the OG - Sephiroth reveals the truth about the Cloud identity the devs also are going to show us the lake scene which is one of the most iconic in the FF series. Why do i think that? Because of the way the make the Aerith's death scene, I mean why did they make the ending so blur and confusing? they are basically trying to represent to us, the player, the state of denial's in Cloud head. - Also I am pretty sure that when the group comes again to cosmo Canon, the professor are going to explain what I have just said. END OF SPOILERS Well that are my theory's about this masterpiece.

Your reaction was so emotional made me cried when Aerith died in Cloud arm while Cloud cried 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔 Here are my top 5 wishlist in Part 3 ending : 1st : Cloud and Aerith reunite to have happily ever after together 2nd : Aerith and Tifa reunite again as BFF 3rd : Zack visit his parent to see him alive and date Cissine plus he become friend with Aerith 4th : Barret reunite with Marlene in their home 5th : Vincent and Cid probably cheer and drink wine together , don't you think ??? Cloud is gone. 99% gone. He's crazier now than in OG. I don't know what you find "wholecome" about Cloud's smiles here but I find it so disturbing. His smiles and "Aerith's" are just so uncanny for me (more likely because of the lighting, but I believe it's intentional).

I don't know how or exactly with what we'll put into it, but I know that empty orb is going to be critical to part 3. Cloud's own white materia since Aerith's prayer alone won't be enough.

I can't recall exactly what was said between Aerith and Cloud at the end, though I'm pretty certain they didn't make a promise here in this scene. Once you decide to revisit FF7, I absolutely recommend you check out the FF7 Rebirth Ultimania, as there is a lot of very interesting notes and developer insights into the events of Rebirth. wow this was one hell of a game and we’re not done yet until the third one comes out! this is obviously my GOTY (no bias). tho some are didn’t like it because its obviously confusing 😂 but hey thats what the devs intended, to leave us hanging and theorize whats gonna happen next. i really laughed when you said “yeah hes busy stealing your girl” 😂😂😂. I cant wait for the third and final installmen in this trilogy. 2027/2028 please come fast LOL

What an incredible journey this game was! Hands down one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. If this doesn't win goty there's something wrong with the world... 😅 I will never not be mesmerized by the ending. The cinematography in the altar scene is amazing! Just pure perfection 💖 the way Cloud cries and then smiles in relief at Aerith melts my heart. We have literally never seen him like this 😭 the fighting sequences drag a bit too long imo but the final fight against Sephiroth with the power couple is just chef's kiss 👌 the reference to AC when they are back to back is so sweet. And they interlock fingers AGAIN! Canon couple right there 🥰 I don't know how we are supposed to wait for part 3.. if it releases in 2027 it would be perfect because it's ff7's 30th anniversary! But that means I will turn 30 myself too and I don't really wanna think about that 😹 regardless can't wait to see what happens!

Not the Finale already! 😭 Final Fantasy characters seem to survive a lot of falls that would be deadly. Cloud already fell from a Shinra Reactor down to the Church in the slums, then there's Tidus falling from the blitzball arena in the beginning of FFX. I think Aerith didn't want the others to know that Cloud willingly gave the black materia to Sephiroth. She probably didn't want them to blame him or distrust him, so she said Sephiroth beat him. I'm sad we didn't get to explore the City of Ancients here. That was one of the things I was really looking forward to see, but it feels like we barely saw anything of it. Hopefully we'll come back here in part 3 and get to see more. In the JP version Vincent just says "Cloud, Go!" like the others. Interesting that they changed it to "She needs you" in the English dialogue. I like it tough. It feels like he doesn't want Cloud to experience the feeling of loosing someone you love because he knows how much it hurts. 😢 It felt like they were building up to him joining the fight against Jenova, even if it would just have been in a short cutscene. I was disappointed that he didn't. He even said he had unfinished business with Sephiroth. Square Enix seriously got me. I thought Cloud saved Aerith for a second. Why SE? Why do you have to play with my heart like that? 💔 I also we'll get to save her in the final part, I don't care how cheesy or cliche it would be. I just want everyone in our party to be happy.
