There are already mods to Skyrim and Bannerlord that use the ChatGPT API in order to make the NPCs have never ending dialog and react to the player in natural ways, that's the future of games, we just need to base it on something open source like Llama 3 not ChatGPT IMO.
yup! What I'd love to see with a Skyrim (always a point of reference for me) is something that expands beyond dialogue-- although, Ill happily never hear "Took an Arrow to the Knee" again-- But more world evolving. Like seeing generations of characters aging and dying-- or even just new quests (not the stupid fetch quests) generating. I know we're a long way off from that, but-- well, Skyrim releases every generation-- so maybe I can pick up the 30th anniv edition w/ new AI features!
@@TheoreticallyMedia In skyrim a problem is how information spreads. Would be nice if NPC's actually talk with each other to spread information. Like bards that move between towns etc. If you put a helmet on that covers you entire face than know one should know who you are.. They dont even need to use GPT for that, but use normal database and simulation to edit promts with new information. If a bandit in hide sees full ebony warrior coming along they should be hiding/ running away etc...
oh 100% true. But Cooper did seem cut in the mold of the stereotypical Do-Righter-- like, Jon Snow as I mentioned. Meanwhile, on the GoT front, someone like Tyrion is a fantastic hero. That said, I think you can edit his backstory (or create another character) who has some flaws and more of an arc.
HAha, as long as we can have control of still torturing them! Ummmm, yes, I am that guy when I play The Sims. (Totally admit that I was horribly addicted to that game when it first came out!)
@TheoreticallyMedia Same! 😆 I dont know why it was so funny to watch unskilled sims burning to death by simply cooking scrambled eggs- it was so ridiculous & yet I laughed every single time 🤭
There are some real world, interactive horror theater experiences that function like this (Sleep No More, Delusion, etc). Usually takes place in a large building with multiple rooms/locations and the audience can wander about, interact with the environment, or follow a specific actor around from place to place. I think this will become really popular when bigger IPs start doing it; instead of just watching Harry Potter run around AI Hogwarts you can follow around Hermione, Ron, Snape, etc.
Haha, I remember some co-workers going to the old "Black Box" Haunted House, where you had to sign a waiver because the actors could actually touch you. I nope'd out on that one! But you're totally right-- I can see it also becoming a thing with less intense stuff, like Meow Wolf as well-- or, even Potter! I would love to wander around AI Hogwarts!
Oh man, super appreciate that! Sometimes I throw out a "Everything Just Changed" thumbnail-- but, if I do that, just keep in mind that I'm laughing the whole time. It's almost an in-joke to me!
U know… about The Thing idea… it’d be more unhinged if you consider characters in R-rated movies or series like I know what you did last summer, walking dead, or breaking bad even lol Anywho as always, thank you for your delightful uploads :)
Oh man, I think with a little World Editor UI, you could probably turn this into an excellent 80s Slasher movie! Camp Crystal Lake and all! The idea of going zombie with it is interesting too. Thus far, you can't have the characters "killed"-- but I'm sure with some snazzing World Editing you likely could. The Zombie thing would be interesting for sure! What, like an hour before they're all zombies! haha
@@TheoreticallyMediahere’s something that would blow your mind: having a 8bit game with a blade runner original concept and aesthetic game that diverges into how AI is an influence in humanity and others. While it won’t be a mainstream concept it should be still intriguing for a niche market. I mean it’s not really a niche market considering how ‘popular’ cyberpunk 2077 is. Basically you don’t have to have a big budget AI game to make it remarkable. It’s all about the proper execution on the backend so that the AI agents can auto generate a world based on the rules of that sandbox world. Blade Runner def makes the best sense because it deals with the concept of robotics (replicant) and humans on a philosophical level in which case, a robot can only become a true android based on its software that has been implemented.
@@noobicorn_gamer See, that's the kind of thing that I think these AI Tools are going to be amazing for. Little Indie titles, that don't have a major budget and a super niche audience! This would be amazing, but-- you're right-- it would be insane to pump a ton of money/time into, as you'd be looking at a super small player base. ...but those players would LOVE it.
Damn the intro reminds me of Flashback and those games that was popular in the 1990s. Just goes onto show how old I am and like the nostalgia we have back then XD
FLASHBACK! Yes!! That's the game I couldn't remember! I was talking about Another World (Do you remember that one?) not long ago, but I couldn't remember the name of Flashback, which had a similar style! THAT'S IT!!!
@@TheoreticallyMediaoh hell yeah another world was something I enjoyed playing too. Ahh the early Prince of Persia era lol I highly recommend searching the playthrough video of it just to waste time but hey, it’s an entertaining waste of time ;)
@@noobicorn_gamer Haha, watching a play-through would likely scratch the itch a lot faster than replaying it! Particularly PoP...I died a LOT in that game! We were also talking about Karateka, which you might remember! That era of "Fluid" animation was pretty remarkable at the time!
@@TheoreticallyMediaso not trying to leverage this conversation (really I’m not trying to) and I know your time is valuable, would you be interested in having a deep dive short call on AI and how things can go from here even with the tech we have at the moment? In the very least it won’t be a waste of time for you (I can guarantee it’s going to be a fun waste of time at least) plus the main reason I ask this is because I myself am developing something I would love to get your personal two cents on. Again, your time is valuable and I’ll respect your answer and if it’s negative I’ll never ask again and just keep being your fan :)
Weirdest World Simulation award goes to eXistenZ, the game universe created by game artist Allegra Gellar in the 1999 David Cronenberg film 'eXistenZ'. Released the same year as 'The Matrix' in fact.
I LOVE that movie. SUCH a mindbender! I was going to reference it in the video, but sadly, it would be like 12 of us who knew of it! Levels within Levels! Such a gem!
Thanks for the interesting video! I'm confused, though. I thought what you were doing with AI Town was very interesting. But I didn't at all understand what was interesting about Thistle Gulch. It seemed like just a less pretty version of "The Sims", no? I don't think you explained clearly what Thistle Gulch can do that The Sims can't do. Can it do the same sort of thing you did for AI Town?
Eventually, I think that's the plan. It won't just be Thistle Gulch, but any setting that can be imagined. I think one way to look at the Simulation engine is how they'd positioned the AI South Park episodes. In this case, it would be this western show, but beyond the demo, it would be a show that never ended. Yeah, might have missed the bigger picture in this video, but I'll certainly be covering more of Fable Studio as their work continues...
@@TheoreticallyMedia Also is fair to say that the world editor UI is an exclusive pinokio thing, not available if you install AI-town outside of pinokio.
The title had me hoping for a sandbox you could create your own simulated reality in, but I quickly realized that was a silly thought when you factor graphics into it. Still, these two look very cool and I'm hoping that the future of this concept is amazing in execution.
Great video! It's exactly the kind of content I'm always looking for. So, there's no way to use AI Town locally on PC? I'll try to find a solution because the idea of creating characters is super cool! More videos like this, please!!!
I know they’re working on it! Check in on the Pinokio discord. Someone got it running by doing a parallel of Linux and installing that way. Haha. Or, y’know, you can wait a few days, as I’m sure someone is grinding a Win version right now.
3 big media things are gonna spin off from these type of simulated worlds . 1.) Never ending Novela and soap operas ... 2.) Shows that are run by AI directors and cinematographers , with full professional styling , post production and perfect camera shots . The AI directors will know whats happening in the world 24/7 and record the most important aspects and cut them together into movies or season based shows . 3.) Aspiring actors , directors , cameraman etc are going to interact with these worlds to produce their own shows and use these productions to gain experience and use them on resume's and talent agencies to get them into large real film productions .
Agreed on all three points, and I'd also add in Games. This is going to be really big for games. And I also predict a new storytelling medium when AR/VR actually really becomes a thing. Something like an ARG with a strong personalized narrative.
@@thebrownboy1453 That was the Nvidia video I showed at the beginning-- it was the second update-- and agreed, really cool! That said, not yet released, and...well, let's just say, I've seen that kind of demo faked in the past! We'll see! But I'm sure it'll happen at some point!
Of course, Im a Sunset Guy as well. Ever play Shenmue? Oh, to see the sun going down behind Yokohama in the Eighties as the ramen shops and arcades light up. A nerdy thrill every time.
Y’know. shenmue was a game I never got into, but I had a buddy who was a really big fan, so I’d watch him play it a lot. S3 was one of my first encounters with 3d open world day/night cycles, and I remember being blown away by the little “world in a box” I think my big “I’m just gonna sit here on the coast and watch the sunset” was probably Oblivion. The score helped that mood quite a bit!
Agreed! One of the things I didn't mention in the video is how I would love to see this tech eventually turn into a truly evolving Open World. Like, coming back to Red Dead 2 after a year and seeing St. Denis in 1920. Suddenly we'll see early cars on the road-- etc. Valentine would have expanded and so on. I mean, it might mess with the storyline of the original Red Dead, so maybe not the best example-- but, I think you get the idea. A long way off from something like that, but cool to think about.
Haha, not yet-- obviously death hasn't been modeled into AI Town, but that almost makes it more interesting, since we're about 3 days in now and Norris just keeps getting more deranged and is really just messing with the others. It's actually much more fun than simply dispatching them!
Indeed. I’m sure you’re aware of yesterday’s quarterly results. They missed the expectation an Cook’s head is on the balance. The board considers he missed not only AI, but failed to improve iPhones and released a product that no one wants, the headset….last night there were tons of rumors on X and LinkedIn that he was out…..he sold 88 millions of his own stocks this week, so things are pointing in that direction. Similar scenario last week with Paramount Pictures CEO. The rumors ended up this Monday with him out of the company. Finally, I advice people that if they wanna know the business side of AI, which determines the fate of a product, to watch CNBC, but particularly Squawkbox. They have the latest, and a bunch of AI CEOs every day…..typos by iOS.
Haha, it’ll be a tower of GPUs sitting next to your desktop. Hmmm, if I was smart, I’d start putting together cool enclosures with those LED lights my kids like. That sounds like it’s going to make someone a few million off Amazon.
Hello my friend!! Thank you so much!! Your content is awesome... I think we finally have the perfect tool for truly interactive and inmersive experiences... I have so many ideas... Sadly my programming skills and my technical knolowdege is really bad. Hopefully with Tools like Devin I have a chance... If there is still hope in human kind, I think is through AI, if democritized, of course...I think Open Source is the prove that we can build together, as a truly intelligent global specie.
Haha, that's one thing I didn't mention: Thistle Gulch is a MUSICAL! (which, I guess could be done if you hook up the Suno/Udio API? How weird would that be?!)
Yeah, give it time-- it's a beta. I'm sure it'll happen at some point. It'll be cool when the characters can turn to screen and ask what you think their next move should be...
Ha! Yeah, I've run that simulation theory through my head a bunch of times. At the end of the day: If we are a Sim...man, I feel sorry for whoever is playing it! This game is a mess!
What would really be most entertaining is rename the game, "A million ways to die in the west," and in of the one episodes a very naive young man has a girlfriend who works at a wh_rehouse. Kidding. Great video.❤❤😂❤❤
Really looking forward to trying out AI Westworld once I get it running-- and really excited to hear they're going Open Source with it, to see what others create w/ it. AI Town is just STUPID fun. I don't have a fishtank, but now I get it! (Side note: I'm hearing you can now install AI Town via Pinokio on PC now!)
Haha, I KNOW! Dying to get back in there. We're having ceiling work done in there right now (insulation put in!)-- so, I'm stuck in Studio B for the next few weeks. I miss Studio A...so much.
Terrible room for audio. If you go back a few videos, you’ll hear “Studio A” that I have pretty dialed in. Had to move upstairs while we’re getting some ceiling work done. Haha, trying to get a sweet spot, but it’s like going back to square one!
Apple’s board is considering to release an intel/Nvidia MacBook Pro against the will of Tim Cook…..more about it at Squawkbox’s today’s show…..typos by iOS…..
that'd be an interesting development for sure. Apple (and this is from someone typing on a Macbook) really needs to get it together on the AI Front. We'll see what WWDC has in store, but they need to come out swinging at this point.
Hey, Tim. Always a pleasure to watch your vids. Your deep knowledge of music and film makes your channel the best place for info I can use for video and music programming. I'm seriously thinking about starting a Patreon for you. I know it doesn't mean I'm buying your soul, but I'd like to know what extra support I can get from you if I do. You probably mentioned it somewhere in your videos already. Send me the link(s) so I can check them out without bugging you more
So, hold off on that…kinda! I’m actually revamping everything this week because I feel like the Patreon isn’t really working, and I’m going to start Beta testing a new thing- and haha, you just ended up the first test case! (And you get it for free!) Can you shoot me an email at theoreticallymedia@gmail.com and I’ll pop you in this week!
@@TheoreticallyMedia Hey Tim! That's awesome, I'm super excited about this! I'll shoot you an email right away. Thanks for letting me be part of the beta test. Looking forward to it!
I suppose you got the email from Magnific Ai by now? Freepik bought them up, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone grabbed them. anyways, they give 60 free tokens to all registered members, sadly they are so expensive that 60 tokens only allow you to scale a single image 2 times so it's worthless. people are interested in the 16 times scale and they couldn't even give us 1/4 of that value. cheap skates, im so frustrated.
Dear Tim, either get done with the piping issue in the original spot that you film, or hang a couple of.frames behind you. I am pretty sure Midjourney can create an alternative movie poster for "the thing" or any other Carpenter masterpiece. Or does it?
@TheoreticallyMedia 👋 I'm always super busy every day so "big" plans is sorta relative to me. On a sad note, a lifelong friend of mine passed away yesterday...... so his wife may have some memorial get-together planned for the weekend. I'll be 60 next year and though that may not be really old.....it's still a mind fu
I was a fan (to a point) of the show and books. I can say one thing: anytime I hit a Jon Snow chapter, I’d usually groan and decide it’s time for a nap! Sooooo boring! “I’m such a good guy! I’ve got to do the right thing! I cannot be swayed!”
@@TheoreticallyMedia Hehe true. About the show, only first three seasons are ok, after that, its cinematic disaster in any possible way, at least for me :)
I thought you were gonna talk about this one! ru-vid.comzhXYNpSxit0?si=T6nJHSg7czto5koV Just announced last week from the creators of Space Engineers and looks to be have the potential to be superior to any of these.
Haha, for sure! I do need to pick up a PC at some point-- I've been talking to a few companies about maybe doing a sponsored video where I do a tutorial on a build. We'll see!
Haha, that form factor sucks. It'll get better with time-- but, agreed! ( have worn the AVP, it wasn't too bad...but I don't know about going 4 hours with one on!)
