Groovy demo of a '60s Hoover USA Convertible Special. The official color scheme was called Dusky Lavender and Pearl White, and years of production were 1962-64. The standard 4-piece Model 3250 tool set would have been sold separately.
My vacuum that I have is a Kirby G4 from 1993. Its a good vac. I also have a Elektrik broom from the late 80s i think. Its in storage atm. I dont really collect them but I will say the older vacuums work much better then the crap they make now like my moms shark stick thing.
That's an awesome variation! Was the bag originally the same lavender color as the hood, or did it fade with time? It sure did a beautiful job cleaning the carpet.
My grandmother had one of these probably from around 1969 to 1972 ish. Hers was pale green and had maybe 3 or 4 different height settings. I remember they got it around the time they had wall to wall carpet installed. Prior to this vacuum they had an old at the time black Electrolux canister vac with runners instead of wheels and no power nozzle. I'm not even sure that machine was capable of running a power nozzle.
Perhaps one of you can fill this in for me. What precisely defines a "convertible" vacuum? I tried looking this up online but after 30 minutes of searching and reading it seems most websites just assume that everyone knows what a convertible vacuum is. One site stated that they were vacuums that could be used upright OR as a handheld unit. That does not seem correct. Thanks...
Kind of. The Hoover Convertible and similarly designed models came with hose and attachments that connected to the unit either via a hatch in the back or a plate over the suction intake to “convert” to a canister for above floor cleaning.
