Something said by Alec on Technology Connections when referring to record changers, "Most humans will happily trade quality for convenience." I guess people found the "old technology" more inconvenient and that's why the stupid bagless vacuums have taken over. Alas.
@@VacLab I think if more people knew the difference we might see a comeback of the older style of machines. Sadly, marketing can be a powerful tool. But considering I've been hospitalized four times due to asthma, I don't take convenience over performance.
Oh, how I wish I knew about the Hoover Convertible 7 years ago! I installed $8K worth of Shaw Caress thick cut pile carpeting and bought an Oreck Magnesium based on SHAW's recommendation and the fact my old Panasonic wouldn't even move. 7 years later the pile has been shredded by the Oreck, the carpeting destroyed. This past summer a neighbor gave me her mother's 1974 Baby Blue Hoover Convertible and it just glides over the carpeting. We affectionately named it the BLUE BOMBER! If only I knew earlier. BTW, loved this video but why did you put in an all brush bar and not keep the beater function? Doesn't that work the best??
@@VacLab OK, thanks, one last question: If I used all brushes, wouldn't it continue to eat away at the carpet? The top is so frayed now. Or, because it runs at a lower RPM, I'm ok?
