so...going back to episode 4, when askeladd asks thors to be their leader, he meant it. he was hoping it was thors. he's been looking for the true leader. and now he found it in canute. thorkell also missed his chance with thors, and now he found it in canute. what a filthy reveal.

Askeladd laughed like a madman because his plan worked. Canute's balls dropped & he became a man. As he said, Ragnar was babying him. As soon as Ragnar was out of the picture, Canute grew up.

When they said Shogi, it was something else in the manga. In the manga they mentioned some ancient Scandinavian board game similar to chess(where it was also explained in the translator’s notes). In the anime they said Shogi which historically makes no sense of course since Vikings couldn’t have known of Shogi, but that’s probably just so that the viewers could understand it. Since I believe that no one’s gonna know some Scandinavian variation of chess.

From the way Askeladd spoke about Thorkell, it seems like Thorkell's weakness is that he has a glass jaw.

It's SO INSANE to me the contrast between Thorfinn and Canute. Just a few episodes ago I despised Canute for his lack of drive and his character. And now he's all of a sudden the closest thing to "a true warrior", and has Thorkell and Askeladd behind him

This episode was so great that everyone missed that thorkell now is a 'human' means he can get defeated He already got knocked out 2 times and now the third

Damn what a line up they have. Badass Canute as the King, Askeladd as the brain, Thorkell as the brawns, and Thorfinn as the rebellious teenager. EDIT: Also, I think by "Shogi" he meant chess. It's similar, but i think it was translated in a way to make it easier for japanese people to understand.

It took almost all of Askeladd's crew dying, for him to finally bend.

Thorkill probably suffered a serious brain injury or concussion when Thors knocked him out. So now(just like in real life), he's more prone to being knocked unconscious from blunt head trauma.

in the manga instead of shogi its "Hnefatafl" a viking age board game. there arent any concrete rules remaining for it. maybe they change to cause most people would have no clue what it is (i only know cause of the translation notes)

This show is waaaay too good.

Thors made a weak spot when he knocked Thorkell out just like in boxing it becomes easier to knock someone out if you hit them in the same place they got knocked out before. That is why mike tyson and Roy jones jr. started to get knocked out after the first time . It is because your brain remembers the trauma and shuts down to protect you from it.

i think thorkells weakness is that his brain is extra sensitive so any good head hit will take him down, dont think it was just a normal sweet spot thorkell hit because he probably doesn't know about that knockout spot. they would go on and on about there being a weakness that is just some sunlight to the eyes i think lol.

Im thinking thors weakened that spot on thorkell the last time they fought. I really like the last water under the bridge line. Canutes philosophy immediately activated when they joined haha

Yes Canute for president. Sometimes killing a character off is growth for another person. Canute is a great representation of that. Ragnar helped him by dying and the priest awoke the reality of things after this.This show is awesome because even directions on this have great twist but they made you actually like Canute in just a few episodes just by character development. Lmaoooo yes Thorfinn broken arm has seen better days. One thing ppl don't take in consideration is Askeladd skills he lasted more then 5 seconds against Thors while Thorkell Lasted about 5 in a fight against him. Askeladd is just old and wounded now so he is not as weak as ppl think. I think this show might be taking top 5 of this year for me its sort of slowly pushing DemonSlayer to 2nd. If they keep these episodes going like this it might do it for me. But thats of course if season 2 of Demon Slayer don't challenge all i said right now. Anyways love yall reaction.

That Thorkell flashback basically shows that Askeladd could have beat Thorkell 1 on 1 because Askeladd still manage to hold on his own for quite a while vs Thors while also manage to do some damage against Thors...Thorkell got raped in just 5 second without even manage to land a hit on Thors at all..not to mention Thors didnt even use his swords at all against Thorkell
