If you're still having this issue, make sure you remove the protective cap on the enter terminal. When you insert the battery, the terminals should be facing the bulb. The center terminal that you removed the cap from will touch the, in this video, golden contact and the outer terminal will touch the outer, silver flange. I hope this helps!

I suggest putting a multimeter on the bulb and see if you get continuity through the bulb that will tell you whether or not the light bulb is good.

I imagine bulbs can be bought, but since this is discontinued, i do not have access the "which" bulb is needed. Email me photos and I will look around: sales@absupply.net

Just saw your post so you may of figured this out already. On the 6v battery the spring is in the center is the negative of the battery. The spring at the corner of the battery is the positive of the battery. Sometimes manufactures will cover one spring with a plastic cap. This is just to keep the battery from shorting by accident. Before using/placing the battery into your flashlight remove the rubber cap over the spring so both springs are exposed. Most flashlights that use a 6v battery are designed to be "fail proof" or at least resistant. You can place your battery into the flashlight and the metal contacts on the reflector/light will line up automatically and properly with your battery terminals when you screw it on (I believe Garrity flashlights work this way). If your flashlight uses posts then align the negative and positive of the flashlight with the negative and positive of your battery when you close your flashlight. Hope this information helps.

I did take it in back into hardware store I bought it and the remedy, yikes, was just removing the rubber of the second coil. Looked so official, I guess to my mind, not thinking for one minute of the disconnect of my thinking. thanks again.

Hey bro, take the reflector out, get a pair of pliers and pull the squarish black plastic thingy on the back side where the center spring of the battery touches the copper tab. It will come out with the bulb. Easy peasy. I just had to get mad at it and give it a steady pull.

there was a black cover on one of the springs on the battery. once that fell off by accident everything fit perfectly
