Something that hasn’t been brought up is the significance of the paintings. The Mona Lisa is a symbol of true a iconic image and they’re challenging that by standing in front of the painting (almost like we’re as well known). There are many paintings from the neoclassical era, for instance the giant painting the dancers are in front of is of the coronation of Napoleon, basically a nod to Beyoncé being queen. The painting of the black woman is one of the first pure portraits of a black woman and was done at a time in France when slaves were free (before Napoleon made slave trade legal again) and she wears the colours red white and blue which were the colours of the revolution in France. Beyoncé also wears the same dress as the statue the goddess of victory (Nike), obviously nodding to the victory of black people. The baroque painting of the men on the raft was of a story of how these men finally got a to see a ship after days of starvation on a makeshift raft. The dances and outfits as well are all nods to cultural importance, for example the stance of a bunch of men holding their arms out is similar to a Neoclassical painting by David called Oath of the Horati, which is linked to this song by standing up and calling for action. This all points to the allegory of the struggle of black people and achievements that they’re celebrating in this video, also about them taking their place in a predominantly white history. Such a well thought out video

Y'all asked about the fact paintings kept getting shown, it's the fact they shut down the whole louvre to film this video, you have to be at a certain level to shut down the fuckin Louvre of all places in the world. Additionally, they talk about filling stadiums themselves opposed to the SUper Bowl where the NFL has the Capernick contrversey and how the two of them rejected the inviations to play at the Super Bowl - one of the biggest televised events in the States. It's also a politically charged song along with the flexing on those who doubted them.
