I feel a lot of people forget that pale skin has been a beauty standard for centuries in many parts of the world. It was a status of wealth because it showed you didn’t have to go out into the sun for labor. The same standard even applied to racially white populations. It’s something that has been around since before European settlement in Asia. I’m not denying that whiteness plays a role in Asian beauty standards, but it isn’t the complete default cause. Also many countries don’t face the same cultural problems that many western ones face racially (specifically east Asia). Glorifying a look that resembles white features doesn’t hold the same connotation it would in, say, America where racism held colored people down. This last bit is a bit of a stretch, but it’s comparable to the wests unhealthy obsession with being tanned and having “glowing dark skin”. People will sit out and bake themselves alive and get cancers. Or worse they sit in tanning beds. They buy lotions that instantly give you a tanner glow. It is quite literally the exact same thing. To me it just feels a bit hypocritical and high and mighty to tell someone they don’t need that and look fine without it and then proceed to go use instant-tanning lotion. Just my opinion tho, I didn’t mean to get super political sorry lmao. Your makeup was beautiful and I’d love to try it when I have some time this weekend
