if you watch his live performances, he's really not that great of a singer (although he has worked hard to improve and we love him for it). he has a reputation for tone deafness, and kind of sounding like a kid singing a nursery rhyme. what you're hearing here is already corrected in studio.

This song always makes me think about Wen Ke Xing playing his flute in the rain on that bridge. Heartbroken because he thinks it's too late for everything. That he can't save Ah Xu and so all is lost. Makes me cry. But their ending lets us know that he does save Ah Xu and his hair turns pure white just like in the song.
