The cruelty these mothers show when attacking other mother's chicks is insane and horrible. And that bigger bird attacking and eating the other species babies was also horrible. Its amazing any chicks survive to adulthood in this horror place.
The egret ("that bigger bird") is a predator and so you can't really blame it for taking the opportunity for an easy meal. I agree, however, that animals and birds using violence on the young of their own species seems totally unnecessary. How does that help their species?
@@exessex3522 It ensures strength and health dominates within the species' population; regulates population; territorial solutions as Sandra said; and it's both an intrinsic and learned behaviour----they all do it/try to do it, so, no matter what, some of them are successfully doing it and securing space and resource for the/their strongest offspring, who will then carry on the 'tradition' lol.
