(Eng Sub)Reason Why is SEVENTEEN popular among LGBTQ+ people? Because SEVENTEEN is ‘OOO’!  

As an ace carat I'm really happy that a lot of their songs don't have explicitly romantic lyrics, but could be seen as any type of relationship, which is quite rare in (especially western) music. I also feel such a warmth and deep happiness at how close and meaningful relationships they have with each other despite it being "only friendship" since media often shows us that romantic relationships are the goal of everything and without one you will be alone. Thank you Seventeen for being my comfort and home!

에스쿱스가 뉴욕 KCON에서 프라이드 플래그를 든 한 캐럿을 보고선 엄지를 추켜세운 적이 있었어요. 수만 명의 관객들과 심지어 메인 카메라조차 그를 보고 있는 상황에서 말이죠. 호시 역시, Ode to you 방콕 콘서트에서 프라이드 플래그를 들고 있던 한 캐럿을 딱 짚어 손하트를 보낸 적이 있고요. 준의 솔로곡 중 Crow는 말레이시아의 퀴어 커플분이 작곡 및 작사 작업을 하셨던 곡이었어요. 다른 가수에게 주는 것으론 첫 곡이었는데, 이 곡을 흔쾌히 받은 준이는 이후에도 이 곡에 대한 애정을 꾸준히 보이고 있죠. (가사 해석 보면 정말 가슴이 아파요...) 작년 Be the Sun 휴스턴 콘서트에서 한 레즈비언 캐럿의 "LESBIANS LOVE SEVENTEEN❤" 이라는 내용의 슬로건을 본 승관이 역시 볼하트(관랑해)를 날려주었죠. 세븐틴의 타이틀곡 중 는 화자가 '나', 청자가 '너' 로 지칭되면서 성별의 지칭이 없는 노래일 뿐더러 "Love has no limit", 즉 사랑에는 한계가 없다라는 가사를 곡의 하이라이트인 후렴구 직전에 외치는 곡이기도 하죠. 세상의 반대를 향해, 혹은 세상의 반대로부터 달아나자는 가사 내용과 뮤직비디오에서 표현된 친구 사이와 사랑 사이의 고뇌가 매력적입니다. 원우와 민규의 듀엣곡이었던 뮤직비디오는 이미 퀴어적 해석으로 유명합니다. 세븐틴은 2017년도 앨범 Al1( 가 타이틀!) 이후로는 모든 수록곡에서 성별 지칭을 찾을 수 없게 되었고, 이는 매우 모범적인 사례로 알려져 있죠! 😊 퀴어 캐럿 중 하나로서, 세븐틴이 힘이 될 때가 많아요.

Another thing to add! The rainbow lights at Be the Sun Tour in Seoul, which only happened twice, because only the Seoul dates were in June. Thus Carats concluded it had to have been for Pride Month. Also, during BETS Tour North America, in a break of the concert, the cameras would film fans with signs. Signs expressing pride, like "lesbians love Seventeen" and pride flags were included, which must have been expressed to the camera directors.

I felt the same as what Hye Yeon says at the end. I am a lot older than the Seventeen boys, but watching how they interact with each other I learned from them also. I used to watch kpop for long time, and I see a lot of groups like to sell this team spirit thing. I am not saying they are fake, but, I don't feel it. Seventeen is the first group that make me believe they have it more than just business relationship. Of course first I like their songs and choreographies, and visuals. I mean first, as idols they are really a complete package. And then at some point I think they delievered happiness to me, not just funniness. In my cognition, it's not an easy thing to do. And, eventually I became carat.

this series has been so healing as fellow queer kpop fan! i found many of the points brought up in the presentations relatable and interesting because this series provided a platform to the queer perspective, which is so often overlooked. i hope we see this series get a season 2 because personally, i'm having the time of my life with it

곡이나 퍼포먼스 같은 일적인 부분에서 성별이라는 요소를 굳이 과시하고 명확히 지칭하는 부분을 배제하려는 모습도 있고 그런 면에서 포용성이 돋보여줘서도 있지만 말했듯이 가족틴이라는게 퀴어적으로 해석했을때 퀴어한 매력, 요소의 가장 큰 부분인거 같아요. 어쩌면 본인의 개인적인 커리어적인 꿈을 가지고 모인건데 그렇게 각지에서 캐릭터도 배경도 너무나도 다른 이들이 모여들어서 무려 13명이라는 사람들이 수용하고 수용받고 일종의 역할이라는걸 부여받고 또 자연스럽게 맡게 되면서 가족 커뮤니티를 이뤘다는게, 그렇게 세븐틴! 이라는 아이덴티티가 강한 공동체를 이뤄 같은 목표를 가졌다는게 너무나도 감동적이고 퀴어하다고 생각했음.... 일반적인(흔한) 공동체가 아닌데다가 날 때부터 맺어지는 인연이 아니고 각자의 노력 또한 필요한.. 그런데도 통상적으로는 일반적으로 여겨지는 그 기준이 모호하면서도 주관적일 수 있는 가족이라는 명칭을 스스로가 부여하고 자랑스러워 한다는게 가장 퀴어하다는 생각을 했어요. 이런것이 꼭 세븐틴이 아니더라도 아이돌 덕질하는 퀴어들이 가장 빠져드는 요소 같아요. 태생으로 맺어지는 관계가 아니라 정말 온전히 포용받는 가족이라는 것이 퀴어들이 갈망하는 요소가 아닐까 싶어서요. 아무튼 세븐틴이 퀴어인 당사자가 빠져들고 소비하고 소속하기에 편안하다는걸 영상을 보면서 또 한번 느낀 거 같아요❤

I have actually seen Seventeen being included in a video about idols who are supportive of lgbtq+ community. However, I am not a fan, so this was informative. This series was pretty interesting to watch. If there is a season 2, please consider inviting Dreamcatcher fans. They are also a group with queer charms, family-like bonds and open support for lgbtq+ people

the8 being loved by lesbians is so true! i'm not a lesbian but i'm a bisexual woman who's more attracted to women, and my bias is the8 because of many reasons, but one of which is because like what was said in the video, he gives "pretty butch vibes" and his androgynous style and presentation is really captivating to a lot of sapphics such as myself! this is a great episode and the siblings did good. all LGBTQ+ people i know likes Seventeen too even if some of them are not exactly Fan fan. goes to show the warmth, inclusivity, and "community" they really radiate to a lot of people.
