FAQs-
Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.
Q: "What camera are you using?"
A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

I know from 21 years experience that you probably don't give a thought to this while in the cab, but you folks really have nice looking country out there. The homeowners and businesses I see along our travels look like they really keep their properties in good shape. Nice lawns, no garbage lying around. Looks beautiful. Also nice to see people getting out of your way, too.

I’m from Indiana. I drove across Pennsylvania and through Lancaster County down the eastern side of Maryland. It was one of the most beautiful trips I’ve ever taken. Just as you say, all the homes are well kept and most have an American flag flying.

It truly is a beautiful area. A lot of people that live here don't appreciate it for what it is.

Great response lucky this did not reach any structures. Would the property owner be charged a fine for this?

A fine for what? Fire departments are a public service.

Police department might fine them for setting a bon fire on dry grass, maybe something "reckless endangerment" or the like

When your use to Practicing and/or training everyday its no biggy when the body is use to the gear . Rather be safe than sorry . Staying healthy and fit is key to be Efficient. Me and my partner/bestfriend got a call for a grass fire that was actually down from the station but we were home about 3 miles from the scene . We arrived within a few minutes on scene Assess the situation as we approached the scene in our pov . In regular clothing wearing our firefighter shirts. We had water extinguishers , rakes and shovels on board and all our gear in the back. We both grabbed a water extinguisher and had the fires out and was hitting the hot spots before the engine even showed up from 3 blocks down the road . Yes it was a volunteer station and no one was there when the call first came out . But thats not always the case when it comes to a grass fire the engine and dedicated brush truck running the fire line . If we got the call while at the station. Yes Sir . We geared up in under 40 seconds and was in the engine ready to go . Didn't matter what the call was for before getting in any emergency vehicle at the station we always geared up. Cause the call could get canceled and next it could be a 2 story structure fire with entrapment or threating other structures . We trained everyday when we could at home or at a brother station with other firefighters when we weren't having our own training at our own station with the fire chief . To always be ready for anything . An trained a lot with the 16:58 thermal scanner to help find victims down from smoke or chemical Inhalation inside a burning structure and always learned to check everywhere and left no place unchecked period . An always always kept In communication with your partner and other firefighters. We both had to stop as firefighters because we both had multiple deaths in our families and it was a Toll on the both of us for a very long time . But we are both Considering to rejoin our same station as we did in the past but it will be at a newer building in a safer area and we both are living right down the street from it . An we are both willing to get retrained back at the begining . I was ff1 and cobra my partner was ff1 and ff2 and cobra he had a bit more time under his belt than I . There is nothing else on earth like being a firefighter and we both miss every bit of it .

"roto ray" is easier to type than "read the description" and it's actually helpful instead of smug and patronizing but no, you need to feel better than someone. Hope you're not a firefighter with that worthless attitude!

It's with sad news that I want to report the death of a 19 year veteran firefighter with The Los Angeles County Fire Department and a second injured firefighter assigned to the Palmdale station, a neighboring city of Lancaster, California, while fighting a vehicle fire located in the nearby community of Little Rock, at a cement quarry. The dead firefighter, a father and husband leaves behind a wife and children. May God bless his soul. The second firefighters injuries were minor and was released from a local hospital.
