The fire service truck “Push-In Ceremony” is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the new unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.
On Wednesday, October 4, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) inaugurated into service Engine 70 during a traditional truck push-in ceremony.
Based at MDFR Coconut Palm Fire Station 70, Engine 70 is a HazMat Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit that is manned by a dedicated four-person crew. Engine 70 will specialize in HazMat response for the south end of Miami-Dade County, bolstering our ALS and fire suppression capabilities.
This addition marks a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Thank you to all our dedicated firefighters and first responders for their unwavering commitment to our community in Miami-Dade County.
