This is the channel where the guy honks the horn a lot yeah? I remember watching some videos like that a while ago and was trying to find the channel again.
Of course he uses the horn a lot because there is two firetrucks coming. Often ppl think "Oh they already passed". Hard to distinguish two sirens close by. And drivers don't think a extra time..
according to that argument, we would have to blast the horns when we respond in a convoy of 3 to 10 apparatus as well? But we don't ... no need for that
To your point, early on you see the pick up start trying to go after the first truck crossed the intersection and then stop once he starts pulling the horn
And if you could ever be a red cap wich you won’t you’d be pulling that horn waiting for your boyfriends present. Shut the fuck up and stay off these videos pansy
@@-Sean_ No dying down is the downward wail. Sweeping into those low notes gives extreme range too. People were able to hear the Chrysler V8 Victory Air Raid siren from catalina Island 30 miles away when it wailed down.
My dad was a fire fighter 27 years. I've rode along with him and the other firemen to fires and vehicle accidents and got to control the sirens and air horn along the route to the fire call location. I had a blast every time!!
The compressor didn't run out of anything, it just supplies air (or gas) to the tank. And the tank didn't run out of air. It ran out of pressure. There was still air in the tank (atmospheric pressure), just not enough to do anything useful with.
Doing that many years ago, the problem is cars are quieter inside now, and people tend to turn their car radio too high, and horns are a lower frequency. Mature folks, in particular men loose the higher end of their hearing. So keep on "Horning" them.
Those hit thumb down should be from another planet! If they ever had their house burnt down would never complain about a fire truck horn. We salute all firefighthers and first responders. Thank you all for your service and may God bless you and your mates that put their life in danger to save others.
Yes! I completely trust our first responders to use their best judgment as to appropriate signaling. If some unaware child ran in front of the truck, those same know-it-alls would be saying “why didn’t they use the horn”
Autistic retards. They do this on marine radio distress calls too. "Reeee he didn't speak the words exactly like in the book/my retarded imagination". Mentally retarded idiots.
3:05 lmao even when his fellow fire fighter says he'll pull the horn when they need it don't worry about it, he does not give 2 shits and pulls it anyway
I wanted to meet or see the guy driving the fire truck! He's a real good and safe driver! That was a cool ride along!! I also liked the guy that was operating that horn!! When we were little we used to sit in the back of the wagon and motion to the truckers to pull on that horn.. Most of them did.. this guy would have been my FAVORITE!!
This truly is nothing, basically an 8 minute response. Not first due, so there were already other units on scene. Yeah thats basically typical response time even for a suburban fire department. Yeah it may be long in length (no much traffic or anything) but its not long in time (lack of traffic and lights in general causes not many slowdowns in response).
@@KandiKlover truly this isn't even a true rural FD. This is nothing compared to what I've seen. A Town/Small City FD responding MA to a neighboring small/mid sized city is what this is. I've seen 200-300 square mile areas covered by two VFDs operating out of two stations. That is true rural FDs. Many times in those instances, if its a week day, yeah there is zero staffing, total volunteer with no one manning the station. So you have to add the time to respond to the station to get a unit to the response time. Many times in those cases 1 or 2 people per piece will go to the station while the remaining manpower will arrive POV.
OK, I am one minute in and if people don't see it by now, they never will. The engine we are riding in is the second one travelling down the same road. Civilians will hear a siren, see a fire engine, or ambulance, or police car go through and think to themselves, OK, "there they go" and proceed through the intersection when the second siren they are hearing (but not realizing it) is just about now entering the same intersection. I have responded to those secondary accidents multiple times. Usually the problems we had on those accidents is the responding engine, ambulance, squad (what ever) went on the first run and we would have to respond from a farther distance.
that's why we usually respond in a convoy of let's say 3 to 10 appartus at the first alarm (whatever the specific convoy from a certain station looks like). Drivers realize that there are several units approaching, and without a huge gap in between, they won't just start driving while the next apparatus is about to enter the intersection
When I see a fire engine zooming by with a siren I listen for another. And I don't think I'm a genius. I think most of us realize that fire engines often travel in pairs or groups in an emergency.
When a civilian in a stopped car, hearing a sirene, is not able to look again to the left or the right side, if there comes another unit or not, he is stupid. As long as I hear sirenes, I have to react carefully.
AinsleyWantsYouHome from what I’m assuming he was probably mad because not enough air was getting to the horns which make that high pitch screech sound
@@RontoGoldlust always wondered about these. In the UK we only have a few types of electronic siren on our engines. Kinda boring tbh these mechanical ones sound so cool. Nice pfp by the way
@@manedwolfwithagmailaccount1478 The Q siren is how you know its 1. an American engine and 2. that it's coming down the road. You hear the Q, you move your A#%.
I miss those days going Code three with lights sirens and blowing the air horns. I can't believe how things have changed since I was a volunteer fireman
Don’t rush to judgement on that damn horn, if you have never been a firefighter or a cop please stop ! I crammed so many lights on my crown Vic that made the Griswold’s house look like a flashlight..yet two idiots in two different occasions crashed right on to my beloved Vic when I had someone pulled over on the side of the road and said...” I swear I didn’t see you “ so..this guy is just trying to make make sure they get to the call and help
You people who dislike the air horn use wouldn't like to be in a truck with me in control of the horn because I think it's one of the highlights of driving/riding in a fire truck
That's not how it works. More horn usage means desensitizing drivers to the sound of emergency vehicles, making them react less quickly. Also it's deafeningly loud, and can stress people out, causing more danger.
@New England Patriots if you know anything you would realize what he said is true. Yeah I love it as much as the next person but if you use it all the time people will just ignore it. The very reason Power Call tends to work is not many people are used to hearing it (basic Power Call, let alone the intersection mode which will truly clear an intersection faster than anything outside someone standing there shooting a gun). Same reason there is talks in some departments to start using European style sirens. They may sound stupid but think about it, if you hear that when you are driving its going to grab you attention very quick. Truthfully there is a such thing as too much horn and too much Q no matter how good it sounds.
Dude you would be ridding layout not my OiC. Horn at intersections only, federal FtW. Hell if your gonna drain out my air tanks for my brakes. I could only watch a portion and skip annoyance
My T.O. (training officer) said this to me on my 1st driver-training day,"son, if you line up the hood ornament with the center line, they'll move". I've done it ever since.....stay safe !! #controlledchaos
Took me a min to realize I knew exactly where they where lol it’s crazy how just scrolling through RU-vid watching fire videos and you find one close to home
ericthesoldier they’re beefy beefy airhorns! My departments new engines horns I haven’t heard cause I haven’t ran any calls on it. More or less ran Mutual aid because those calls happened when I was available.
He sure loves that horn. But they are heroes they are risking their life to keep us safe thank you so much I am trying to be a state trooper for my area and trying to be a firefighter also
I would love to go code three again watching this video. I was a volunteer fireman for St.helens Oregon for seventeen years and I enjoyed going code three with lights sirens and blowing the air horns.
@@MarcLloydZ I didn't get hurt when I was a volunteer fireman. I came close to getting killed because I was up on the roof and I cutting a hole in the roof and trying to push the roof were we were cutting and step off the ladder with a pike pole and pushing it down when the roof collapsed and I went down with it and next thing I know I look up and I was in the house fully involved with flames all round me i saw the front door and it was closed so I drive through the front window to get out. Thank God I was hurt but I was close getting hurt or killed.
Whatever it takes to move traffic, and make them see and hear you.... YOU DO IT. For those who don't like the horn, those of us who are in these rigs, WE DO NOT Care.
Nothing justifies risking many innocent lives to race to a fire! If the fire is serious enough 99.9% of the time the people are out! The truth is that Firefighters truly save very few lives most of what people are lead to believe is far more hype than reality. This coming from a retired 30 yr Firefighter willing to stand up and speak the truth! Your more likely to be saved by a Neighbour or Passerby than a Firefighter!
@@daveboydell2896 So if your house catches fire I'll take two hours to get there and put it out. Your neighbor's property or house will catch fire as well but who cares? Nothing justifies risking innocent lives to get to a fire!
This is how many time the passenger beside the driver pulled the rope letting the tank release air to the compressor making air come out of the air horn 👇
One of the safest, most profesional response videos I've watched, especially as it started raining during the run, but most guys on here including the keyboard warriors are upset about a horn getting honked too much! Go figure.....
we don't have an additional horn, we don't need one either. On such emtpy roads most of us would probably kept the siren off as well and only switched it on when necessary
This response time was horrible in my city FF got to the fire in less then two minutes 12 Ppl dead and we have by far the best FF in the nation FDNY #TRUMP2020
Excellent driving! He expedited without driving like he was in Indy, very cautious at intersections, showed concern for life BEFORE they arrived on the scene. I worry about these videos where they're driving like they're on their way to put out Hell, then I see fire truck crashes and wonder why. You can't help anyone if you don't get there!
very awesome response, great siren and airhorn work to get to a house fire safely. up in rhode island we do have Q sirens, when i was an acting officer for a volunteer dept i'd always start the electronic siren, then blast the Q if theres alot of traffic but great response guys
Never understood windscreen. Screen is on windows and doors to allow summer breezes to flow through. They are windshield wipers, because it shields you from the wind.
I don't see the issue with the excessive air horn use. going through the residential neighborhood at the end was a bit excessive and typically my company runs with no sirens or horns in places like that. HOWEVER, as we saw at the beginning of the video, drivers tend to associate 2 sirens with one vehicle. in this instance, where two trucks are driving in tandem, drivers may associate the two siren tones to one rig. i've seen it a lot where we'll be driving in tandem like that, and a car will pull out right in front of us. it's usually older folks but still. the use of the air horn isn't hurting anything, cmon now.
Moon Scar You never know when a careless squirrel or similar mammal will dart across the road. #livesmatter! Best to be overcautious and blow that horn eh?
Well that is stupid, I was always told to pull over when I was younger and learning to drive. I still do it many yrs later today. I have a bumper sticker on my car that reads No one ever said you need a brain to drive. You should see all the dirty looks I get from people. Lol
I'm sure a lot of the air horn was because they're the second truck, and it's not always clear where the siren noise is coming from, so people may think they emergency vehicle has passed and not look behind them again before pulling out.
@@lbn1188 A lot of people freeze up and panic because they're trying to get out of the way but don't know the right way to go, many videos of people trying to avoid but end up turning the wrong way
Yeah, he's blowing the horn a lot - they're encountering vehicles that aren't stopping or getting out of the way, or are approaching from side streets, and the fire truck is going through red lights and stop signs.
Was thinking, boy does that all look familiar. Then when you all passed the Pink Elephant, then saw the Rt 60 West sign. Visit my son down there 3-4 times a year. Good job getting there.
