Ty, I want to thank you for the research necessary to find these dampers. I purchased two for my car and set them aside until I put in the new motor mounts. Last week I tackled the rear motor mount and in the process, I replaced the damper. I had replaced the front the month before. Between these new dampers and the solid poly mounts the car is much more responsive. This combined with a short throw shifter and a 31mm anti sway bar this car now handles great. The Nolothane Antisway bar had to be redesigned as the original design on my fully original suspension was hitting into the lower control arms. It took them a few months for them to redesign it, but it was worth the wait. Cornering is now flat, but the downpoint is that this is a solid bar not hollow like OEM so it weghs much more.
Thanks for sharing this, I got a CLS6 earlier this year and I'm still in the process of replacing worn out parts -- among them were the shifter cable bushings, and I had to take a leap and get ones labeled for an 01-05 civic/02-06 RSX, and they were perfect. I'll definitely see about getting some of these engine dampers if I can find them in stock again
What are the symptoms associated with a bad engine damper? I have a 2000 Camry V6 that uses this same mount and I replaced all of the engine mounts with OEM Toyota parts except for this last one..
I can't speak to the Camry of course, but for the CL most state that they haven't noticed an appreciative difference by not running these. Due to subframe issues with the Acura CL, some have to ditch the back one because they are sourcing an automatic subframe replacement which didn't utilize these. You can tell if one is bad if you don't feel resistance when operating them by hand. For the performance of the car, it's supposed to take the load when shifting gears or starting from a stop. In other words, it's supposed to the performance smoother and less harsh. If you're noticing harsh shifting or a lack of engine stability at high rev shifts specifically, you may have worn out dampers.
@proguy747 Where did you source the part? This is great, I have been looking for these for years. Now the only part that I have not been able to find is the air tube to the throttle body. I have put on a cold air intake, but for show, I would like to have the OEM hose.
Ty, on your Legend you replaced the seat covers. Which vendor did you use? My 03 seats are in amazing shape, but they are beginning to crack so I am looking to get new ones made. I have a set for patterns that I pulled off from a wrecked car if the vendor needs to make patterns.
