I dont know about everyone else... but prefer johns videos over watching more rebuilding of vehichles i will never be able to afford like a few other you tubers do
Of all the Netflix, Amazon and general television series I've made my way through during all this time spent at home, this series is honestly the best thing I've been watching.
Can you please keep this Camaro, I have no idea why but I’m absolutely in love with this car, I love watching you make content about this car and I don’t want you to stop any time soon, being 16, wanting a muscle car, and broke and seeing how you can find a muscle car for only $4,000 and fixing it to be better than it was is just amazing to me, you can fix a car that was “a lost cause” to some people, and have it pretty nice is awesome.
The focus of the new camera is driving me nuts! I like this series though! It's like the camera is on an "average" setting. i think it should be on a "center" setting.
That was a very cool Renault. After what they sold here in the states, I never thought I would utter those words. Very cool. Betting Doug ends up reviewing that one soon.
Worked on too many Renault "appliance" Reliance, and Fuego pieces of shit. The 1.4 liters came from the factory needing valve service, right away. I've owned more reliable Tecumseh lawnmower engines.
@@drewt1081 yeah the alliance was pretty much a ball-less Wonder. In 1989 we took a fairly new one from Ohio to Tennessee with just us four teenagers and luggage. Nobody was over 180 lb. The driver literally just held the pedal to the the floor and we'd get up to 75 going downhill and barely stay 50 going uphill in the Tennessee mountains. No wonder they quit selling here.
Used to ride around in various GTA/A610’s when I was young back in the UK. My buddy was the boss of Renault UK at the time and had a different one every month. Really great car and ahead of its time for sure!
Glad I found this channel! Been dealing with so many issues with my 2010 rs. Hopefully learn how to fix it from this channel. Already replaced relays, new starter, new crankshaft position sensor for the starting issues...still not fixed completely yet. And now timing chain p0008 code!!!!!
I'm old school, and never though "liquid mechanics" really worked, but you've changed my mind over the last two videos. Hopefully, adds 50 - 100 000 more miles of life to the engine.
it never occurred to me that the turbos on a 911 turbo are below the oil sump and would have their own mini sumps and scavenge pumps. Super cool stuffy.
Nice video, but I wanted to add that there is a cheaper way for DIYers to do this type of treatment at home without paying a shop. First you run the engine at high RPMs and add carb cleaner through the intake slowly to burn off the carbon on the valves. Add it slowly and use up an entire can. Do this every so often to keep the valves clean. Secondly add a catch can to your GDI engine. I have a DIY video showing you how to make your own catch can for under $10. You could always buy one premade if you want to be fancy and spend more money. But all this can be done at home without taking it to a shop so you can save money and do it yourself plus keep your direct injected engine running properly beyond 100K miles.
I swear by these BG products, they are great. My 2008 Buick Enclave with a very similar DI 3.6L V6 engine never had any of these issues, but I used the maintenance products from BG every 30,000 miles. You want your engine to last a long time, you do the DI cleaning regularly - and then you won't have any issues. Can only hope this engine is saved.
Looking forward to seeing the timing chain replacement video. My 2011 Camaro LLT V6 has 78k miles & no issues but I know at some point I'll be replacing it.
I have an '18 RS V6, I did a MRT muffler delete and it sounds pretty good. I also installed a K&N cold air intake. Adding the intake knock .3 off my 0-60
STP makes a good system for DIYers. This BG system is not available for DIYers and is insanely expensive to get done at a shop for what it does. And it still is not as effective as walnut or baking soda cleaning.
I remember sitting in an Alpine at the UK motor show in '85 or '86. It seemed like a space ship then, just weird now. Apparently they drive really well, especially the later versions. Very cool.
@@gosportjamieSadly. Its always the coolest cars that aren't reliable. That one looked like it has been maintained its whole life too and with all those spare belts and hoses most small issues could be taken care of. Should be fine for a good while i would hope but with older foreign cars like that you never know.
If you want to pronounce it correctly (like the French would), "Alpine" rhymes with "mean" or "steam". Not with "mine" or "dime". So funny to see one of those in the US of all places. They're getting pretty rare over here in Europe. But there is a bright yellow 610 living literally two blocks away from me - but then again, Renault's German importer/headquarters are very near to where I live, so there's always a better than average chance of seeing some of their rarer cars around here.
I'm impressed with that tune in a can!! Not many actually work. I clean rings, ticking lifters, and motor sludge with a quart of mystery oil, qt of dex3, qt of kerosene and rest oil with a qt and half overfill. Half an hour idling and to about 2500-3000 using full throttle to load the motor. Just letting off so it doesn't go past 3000. Keep going until it stops billowing smoke, usually 15-30 minutes. New oil and filter, cruise around for 30 minutes. Drop the oil and refill. Works really great on neglected low tension oil rings. Transmission transmedic will bring back lost gears and stop converter shudder. Transmedic is the only one that works. It's blue and thin like mystery oil. 200r and 700rs always lose reverse and slip in overdrive. 2 bottles drive until everything is working perfectly. Drain and power flush with new filter. Add another bottle and your finished. Works most of the time. It's usually sticking valve body causing the issues.
I have interest in every video you post man! I try and learn something in each one and they always seem to amaze me! Well done! I live in Derby but I’m sure I’ll see you driving around Wichita sometime or at O’Reilly/AutoZone and I’ll be sure to say hey! Keep up the great work brother
Your videos get better and better. I would recommend walnut blasting instead of a chemical clean as you don't need to change your engine oil afterwards.
JR, thanks for another great video. I do need to pick one nit with you. The supply hose to the brake booster is under vacuum and in theory being sucked to the intake. The hose clamp is more to keep un-filtered and un-metered air from entering the engine. I agree the dealer should have replaced the clamp but no chance it will blow off. Keep 'em coming.
The Alpine came with the PRV engine that was shared by Peugeot Renault and Volvo. You should see the Murena. The French built some impressive machinery
Great videos man! Keep doing what you’re doing with cars that anyone can buy unlike some other YT that start with low end cars then turn to super cars.
ahh an Alpine, grew up a few miles away from Dieppe where those were built .. if you want to geek out on these check out on the car that got out of that manufacture the spyder without winshield being one of my favorite with the r5 turbo of course ... unfortunately they will must likely close it in the next two years
hey ! there's a award plate from an ancient car show in the back on that car ( the Renault Alpine ) . it's from Quebec , canada !! . i'm from there too . hello from Québec city ! i've been following yours videos since a couple of month now .
My buddys dad back in the late 80s or early 90s sold his corvette and bought an Renault Alphine. It was a cool car. I remember it have wider fender flares on it though. My buddy was driving it and turning through an intersection and someone ran the light running from the cops hitting the car and totaling it. I don't remember what he got after that. His dad had let him drive it for the day.
He was talking so fast. What is final answer did the two liquid cleanings work? How much cost for each?Is it recommended for older autos? Make ending of film more explicit, buy or not buy signals? I like this guy.
This project is taking a unique turn. Having access to the Ninja's shop and those "potential" remedies is interesting. Can't wait till it runs in the 10's......lol
Man great job man I did this to my Cadillac CTS 4 2009 3.6 I took a long hose and did it with the seafome it took like 30 minutes I saw the difference I think by the end of the year I want to do the cams but I will be looking for a shop to do it
