Is this Atlantis better than my Cities Skylines version? Check out Surviving the Abyss here: play.paradoxinteractive.com/EngineerAbyss Thank you to Paradox Arc for sponsoring!
You can tell an architect designed those structures because animals in dark places like the abyss of the ocean are attracted by light so what do they do put as many powerful lights on the outside of the structures as possible lmao.
Matt: Builds a mine on an infinite coal deposit Also Matt: Pulls the worker off the mine because he "has enough coal" Also also Matt: Oh No, I'm running out of coal, where do I find more?!?!
it's all fun and games until it becomes Infraspace all over again... we remember the endless traffic... the overpopulation... followed by underpopulation
I just want to majorly shout out to your editors! They add so much detail to the videos that don't just make the video more entertaining, they make me feel like I am experiencing the game as Matt does. The close calls, the jokes, the true engineering ideas (and sometimes the architect level ideas tbh), I feel like I experienced these as RCE experienced them.
Matt needs to play Subnautica I want to see the amazing bases he makes that are engineered to perfection 😂 Edit: so apparently he already has but it seems like everyone wants a season 2
RCE during Timberborn: Let's fast forward through night time. No one likes to play a game with day/night cycles. RCE: Well, I guess that's one way to avoid the night cycle - just make it all night all the time.
This is basically underwater Frostpunk with a bit of Surviving Mars tacked on, which makes sense given they're all Paradox games. Will definitely pick this up and fill in the time waiting for Frostpunk 2. Also I like how there is a coral reef nearby. You know those reefs that are kilometers deep in the ocean.
being that rapture is like an early/mid 1900's new york style city under water, mostly skyscrapers and such (or being they are under water is it more accurate to call them surfacescrapers?) it wouldnt really work if every single function building was massive. could open up possibilities such as combining simtower elements where you place a skyscraper and then you construct the interior floor by floor like in simtower.
hopefully the devs update it to make adding tunnels like, require more energy or air or something so you have to actually make them efficient and as short as possible, or walking time reducing efficiency of stuff
i have severe thalassophobia and often have nightmares about cities on the ocean floor. i wasn’t expecting this game to be horror, but it certainly feels like it lol
Matt, if the event ever rose, the "enemy" could easily map your base.. the entire thing is lit up, after all.. whether visually or with sonar, you aren't fooling them.. if the game allowed you to tunnel into the ground, and expand that way, then it would be an entirely different story. Bless your soul though hahaha I really can't blame you for trying. A+ for effort! :D
You should play Command and Conquer : Tiberian Sun. Play as NOD and send waves of cyborgs and Engineers into the middle of GDI bases with those underground APCs from the TMNT cartoon. Engineers can be very OP properly applied.
Really hope you continue this series. And just remember about the huge feet: the bigger the feet, the bigger the m..., um, the more efficient they are.
0:48 may I suggest you another very nice game, that is similar to this one, of Paradox? I would love to see Matt play Surviving Mars! And to see the most strong looking Mars Colony ever made XD The only problem? The entire game is in grids (and I hate it some times)... But hey they are the strongest shape possible! (No not that one you are thinking) EXAGON! P.S. do it in live pls 25:58 SpongeBob be like:
For people interested in playing this gamej here is a tip for you. Those mining buoy that are place to get resources can be placed a further distance out past the light as long as your sonar has located them.
Matt. there is a game called “surviving Mars” it’s very similar to this game but it’s based on mars. you start off with drones and other things then once you make survival domes you can bring people into your engineering paradise on mars free from all architects. it’s also got calming music.
A fish once decided to get out of the sea and boom - we got all the dry land animals, including humans. But these guys want to merge them back with fish?....
Matt: Has a worker disassemble explosive mines. Also Matt: "Oh we did it! We got 90 steel for that! Bangin'!" No Matt! Not bangin'! That's EXACTLY what you don't want, and did successfully avoid! Bangin' = not good in this case.
Something tells me enemy forces are gonna have a really easy time finding Matt's base. Good thing it's tough to see through abyssal voids. Not sure if the population has to physically walk to buildings in this but if they do then the super tunnel might've actually screwed you over.
@@merafirewing6591 I was referring to long pointless corridors being really long and windy for no reason and inconveniencing the workers by them not having efficient routes to work
4:06 the reason the world will never have to fear engineer tyranny. With out someone like an architect to give them functional plans to build something useful you get this.
Honestly, wanna see you and Morphologist Collab. He is an architect, but also an engineer... A Space Engineer XD But in all seriousness his architect reviews series focuses first and foremost on efficiency of design followed then by aesthetic design
Those tunnels hurt me, RCE. They hurt my soul. I get it, confuse your enemies... But, and it pains me to say this, that's a very architect kind of mindset. I know, I KNOW! ... But... Sometimes, the truth hurts. Please... Don't become the thing you swore to defeat.
this really gives me SOMA vibes, as in reaserching bace on the bottom of the ocean. Would actaly really like to see you play that, tho it isn't like the other games you play, because its a horror game. But its a REALLY good game with an incredible story.
This looks interesting, definitely going to give it a look. Btw, you should check out Frostpunk, it's kinda like this, but winter and (possible) child labour.
the minute i saw him about to set up a tunnel.. I KNEW!! he would be able to do a proper straight line.. no.. instead... he had to make a looptiloop... this man HAHAHAAHH
Mister Streamer I know that curves and glass and curved glass are a problem, but what about glass blocks/bricks? I love how weird they look when used in walls.
