I am also a final year mechanical engineering student. I totally agree with your points. I realised that Mechanical engineering is not what I thought. The education system only teaches mainly on theory, (which gets outdated by the time we graduate). I realised that my true passion is actually film making.

In medicine after completing 5 years every student has to undergo training for 1 year. Same to be followed for Engineering. So that the students can gain some knowledge & the companies can meet their expectations from that student........
I know to filter Ganga! the way is to: we should first build a dame .after that we should make two filter one to separate drity water we should keep it before the dame . next we should make filter to separate the plastic and etc. The order is first we should keep the filter that separates plastic after that we should leave some distance and keep the filter that separates the dirty water. To make these filters we should use the method that is used in RO filters. My age just 11

Bro , don't give false information there are oly 530 engineering college in tamilnadu.there are 15 lakh engineering seats in India but oly 8 lakhs filled in last two years.in the era of automation no manpower is needed.india population 1320 million people and it produces 30 lakh cars.germany population 80 million people and it produces 100 lakh cars per year.gdp of India 2.4 trillion vs GDP of Germany 3.2 trillion.that why lot of unemployed and underemployment in india.indian engineers not even fit for plumber and wiring jobs that's reality.solution oly 1 lakh engineering seats to be in India and parental pressure is too much in India due to social prestige that they are destroying their own children.

U have said that the real fact of Engineering life ...the architecture of Engineering syllabus is exactly right as well you know the stream of mechanical engineering related to every concept is a basic functions, so the other countries are developed a lot and lot but still now we are in a IC engine so this what is the main problem we facing as not satisfied engineers we know that every concept and functions but we don't know how to operate or how to rectify the problem so companies expectation as 2 to fulfill with the knowledge in past ...nowadays it becomes labour... they don't want any of engineers to create a design they need only workers to operate the Machine for 10000 salary...
Yea bro as you said..we are expanding the rote learning process from school to colleges.. More and more practical things should be there and this 4 years of engg should make students to explore and experiment huge variety of things which was learnt in those years and also allows to experiment himself to know himself...and it should develop certain skills and abilities to cope up with this changing technological world...sadly didnt even realize what are we studying and why are we doing that :(
