Hi everyone! We're getting more comments than we can reply to on this video, so we're pinning this one to answer some common questions. We know there are other ways you can do this (using RFID instead of reed switches, not using an Arduino at all, etc). 2. Putting the litter box on an elevated platform that the cat can jump to but the dog can't only works if your cat can actually jump higher than your dog! We have an old arthritic cat who would have trouble getting up onto a higher platform. 3. A dog eating poop is not always an indication of a nutritional deficiency. Don't worry - Riley is getting a healthy veterinarian-approved diet! Scientists actually think this might be an evolved behavior leftover from wolves keeping their den area clean: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5980124/, while some dogs may just think that cat poop is just a particularly delicious snack.

It's actually a time machine. Cat goes in, poops, and exits, then the poop gets sent into the past. Meanwhile, five years ago, the inventor keeps trying to catch the cat that's pooping in his house.

Lol we couldn't keep our Chihuahua out of the litter box either. Our solution was just to get a litter robot

arduino reads a fob that tells it to close the gates that pretty cool. def a lotta cables and prolly would be hard for me to learn but aye a tutorial helps so thanks for that!
