As a football fan, I can’t express how much I love Katie McCabe. Excellent win at the beautiful Aviva Stadium for the Lionesses. Leah Williamson as captain was phenomenal, she hasn’t missed a beat. There really isn’t anyone in word football like her. Hampton was really solid in goal, made a couple of phenomenal saves. Those last 25 minutes, my heart was in my mouth. Ireland were relentless but we defended brilliantly. As a Liverpool fan I know the how dangerous Campbell’s long throws are. Back to back games against France next for the Lionesses. Speaking of that great to hear Liverpool’s club captain Niamh Fahey on comms, her and Seb Hutchinson were great. England’s record under Serena now stands at P49 W39 D6 L4 GS 181 GC 28 WR 79.59% 🏆🏆🥈-🏆🏆🦁

England have great squad with superbly skilful players in all positions,though physical stature is maybe a problem - Millie Bright is a big loss.At the moment Lauren James,for all her undoubted talent, needs to up her imput ,and in particular press the opposition defence more -she could learn a lot from all-action Chloe Kelly who l would start the game with,and bring her on as an impact player.If James could introduce more energy to her game she would become an even better player-her ‘strolling “ approach is not sufficient at this level

Where’s the team that won the Euro’s? Hard to say what’s missing, maybe Fran Kirby up front. We need to play a lot better if we’re going to defend the title.
They had a terrible second-half? They have no consistency and the defense is full of holes, they need a new defense i don't think they will qualify playing like this??
The team that won the Euro’s are now history. A lot of new blood need to be introduced into the team for it to succeed.. Sarina is in danger of falling into the trap of staying loyal to certain players….It’s the Gareth Southgate syndrome.
When the hell will Lucy bronze either retire or step down from international matches? She is a big liability for the defenders who have to cover her. Let the younger generation get some experience
She's exactly as useless as every other woman footballer in history. They're all frauds and none of them has an ounce of skill, talent or ability. Women's football isn't serious, it's pretend. You're pretending you can play when the reality is, you can't.

Second penalty was harsh on Ireland so the miss was justice. Those are humongous long throws btw. Good win for England but not quite as comfortable as they may have liked.
She was assigned to mark Russo and prevent her from receiving the ball. She did everything she could including raising her hand, and it came into the path of the ball. Yes, so penalty. The commentator should not have said, "Where do you expect her to put her hand ?"

How was it harsh? The ball hit her outstretched arm. It was a clear penalty.
Terrible penalty decisions, one ball was due for the moon, the other wasnt even a foul. Or rather the first penalty is a rule problem, but the 2nd was a bad decision. I'm an england fan so can't say i'm being biased but i really hate this penalty business in football these days it ruins the sport
@formless4541 I think both penalties were silly. There was an interesting discussion among TV experts on German TV after the Arsenal Bayern. game. For those who haven't watched it: Arsenal defender and goalie are pretty much alone in the box and 6 yard area. Next Bayern and Arsenal player is at least at a 10 - 12 meter distance. Goalie plays a lame slow pass to defender who has a black out bows down and grabs the ball with his hands. Bayern players were furious especially as they claim the referee told them he's not going to award childish pens. One expert agreed arguing we should go back to the old days when the "intention to gain an unfair advantage" was an important part of the decision.
That 2nd penalty.award is a joke & I'm English. The authorities need to stop messing about with the rules because nobody knows what a penalty is anymore. Never a penalty,.deflecting onto her arm from all of 3mm

That was one of their best games for a while . Like watching last Euro's plenty of aggression ,by Lionesses . I certainly would not have let Greenwood take two penalties . Harry Caine did same thing when he took two except his went into orbit . Nice to see some fresh faces as well.
Chelsea should get rid of Sam Kerr, she is a disgrace! With Mayra Ramírez and Mia Fishel, Chelsea will have more than enough fire power. And I believe Catarina Macario is also in the pipeline..
@UnknownUser-em3sx from what I've seen of her and comments I've heard Lauren James has a lot to learn when it comes to team play. yes, she scored a lot for Chelsea but often waisted several opportunities of her team mates in the very same game as she didn't pay attention.
It is a hand ball, if the ball touches a hand/arm that is clearly raised above the shoulder. The new rule introduced in 2020 weakened the intent/no intent part of the rule, which was a good thing IMHO, referees are very bad at mind-reading.
There is no such thing if arms are away from the body. It's why you see the players with their fingers in their bums while in the box. It's a maddening part of the game. Only God can handle a ball and get away with it.
why would the irish get a free kick for the lioness keeper kicking it into their forward? she's outside the box, the keeper has the whole box from which to kick it, just play on and get on with the game...
what an amazing football style Ireland, exactly the same as that of males of Ireland. this style is extremely far from the Japanese style indeed, but thank you for the exciting game.
Based off highlights England were the better team and could have scored another 2 maybe, Ireland at least 1. Something for both teams to work on in training. Looked like a fun game.
England are European Champions and World Cup Finalists. They were the better team going into it. Ireland squandered some opportunities and have a lot to learn. The referee made some stink decisions too though

England sure knew how to pass the ball around, they often made it look pretty but without getting anywhere. Before the match Eni Aluko got it spot on what Alessia Russo's role would be but none of the other players seem to have heard that. No-one served her a decent delivery, when they did try the pass was overhit and ended being a goal kick. It makes me wonder what instructions the coaching staff and manager are giving. Russo (substituted yet again) must be as frustrated as hell at being played but not used to her proper ability. Once again last night all our backs spent far too long passing the ball around without making significant progress towards the goal where they were meant to scoring. We won; to the manager it seems that's all that matters. I disagree.
The way the qualification is set it would be weird if France, England and Sweden do not go to the Euros. Even Ireland has very good chances even if they finish fourth.
Ireland have playoff positions anyway due to finishing 1st in their Group B earlier in the year, they are improving one of those chances gone in and England would have squeaky bums ...Ireland played better tonight than against France and France are very likely to beat England in both games coming up

That handball wasn't intentional and the ball was traveling upwards and probably outwards . I always thought that referees were there to make the right judgement calls .

Why do refs give penalties against players who have arms, I do support England but both of those penalties, the players had no way of getting their arms out the way, it was ball to hand, not hand to ball...
If England and Ireland and Scot, Wales can get together on a unify team for the World Cup, wouldn't they have a much stronger team(bigger pool of talent) then 4 seperate team? also I know during Olympic, GB will be force to send in a unify team(if quaify), but since normally GB team is (England), won't the Olympic team be dominate by England player since their player and coach been working together much longer!?
What about Cornwall (Kernow) then? They are also a national minority within the UK. But the one important thing you seem to have forgotten is that Ireland is not, and does not wish to be part of the UK..
Lucy Bronze is giving the ball away far to often in recent games. Aslo against better opposition when she goes forward as is her want she leaves us badly exposed. At 32 is it time to try someone new ?
