Warne was an anomaly, almost an unfair advantage. How the English team grouped together, spearheaded by Flintoff to counter the Aussie juggernaut! I remember watching this series live with my dad & brothers - unforgettable experience.

15 yr ago England and Australians with great legends, With Legend commentator Bill lawry, Riche Benard, M Slater Nail biting trilling climax by Australia, England won by 2 runs.

Even though they lost this Australian team was the greatest cricket team of all time. They had three legitimate captains in Ponting, Gilchrist and Warne. In batting they had formidable players like Hayden and Clarke and legendary bowlers like McGrath and Brett Lee. Even their second string had players like Lager, Haddin, and Hodge. This was a fantasy players dream team. Now to think about the extra ordinary performance the English team had to pull out to beat the Aussies is what makes this the greatest Ashes series ever.

A few thoughts: - England first innings run rate 5/over + Tresgothic - Wow; agricultural lower order, LOL. - Australia’s first innings like a solar eclipse; Giles gets Ponting and Clarke only in his dreams (Clarke eats it for breakfast normally); Vaughan run out, as if… - Strauss’ luck to Warne with TWO “Gatting balls”; seriously stop smashing all your mirrors Andrew (and maybe G. McGrath was there with him) - Warne: “Fine, I’ll do it all myself, thanks for nothing boys…” (with bat and ball, both innings) - Flintoff’s brutality and grace in each stroke, not sure how that happens (and both innings, bat and ball - amazing). - And for the record, I’m Aussie but still think this was the best series I’ve seen, not just the best Ashes (as much as it pains me to say…)
