@@hasturthekinginyellow5003 I love that a lot of smooshed-faced breeds are getting the longer snouts bred back in, so much more ethical and needs to be encouraged more. Short snouts aren't cute enough to justify breathing problems
I know that's no consolation, but I like to imagine my beloved cat Mr. Mittens who passed in my arms a couple years ago to be running around sniffing lizards in confusion and trying to play (gently, like you would with a kitten) with anything smaller than him. He never bit or scratched, and was entirely indoors, of course, but my snake and he /loved/ each other. My snake still perks up if I move Mr Mitten's bed and his smell gets in the air :(
Exactly why I was gonna mention my buddy's Bully was apparently very ill tempered..always biting. Which I stopped to think he likely got it that way used and the orig. owner must've made it that way.
Them being lazy is not always the case I had 2 English Bullys for about 12 years or so. They didn't become lazy until the 3 or 4 last years of their lives. Stubbs loved running all the time and Eeyore loved to jump and climb things. RIP my boys I miss yall so much.
My childhood pet was a English bulldog named Ariel. She was a sweetheart and goofy gal that I greatly miss and am thankful to have had a good portion of my life with
The reason they are lazy is because they have a difficult time breathing. If they get too active then they may suffocate. It's common sense. It's just like when we are sick tens not to move around too much not because we are lazy.
I had them for 20 years….but their health issues couldn’t be stopped. Over breeding. Lack of care. Poor breeding. It’s sad to see such sweet creatures suffer due to man’s supply and demand. Now I have bull terriers. Much healthier breed. But I’ll always have love for the chonky house hippos❤
Great dogs. Just be careful where you get them from. Mine doesn’t have difficulty breathing, but she OVERHEATS very easily, because of the short nose. She’s great in the cold! But in the heat… that can be a death sentence.
I remember my English bulldog Bruno. Pure white with a little bit of brown on his face. Laziest thing I have ever seen in my life but he was so snuggly and loving. He liked to play every once in a while, you'd say "imma getchu!" and he'd jump up, wiggle his butt and run at you, he'd play bite, shake his toys around. Then you say to him "gimme sugars" and he'd immediately stop and lick your face. Man I miss him
I loved my English bulldogs, he lived to be 9 1/2 years which is old for this bread, he was my best buddy very hyper loved playing football, diving thro the water sprinkler and protect me like I have never know!!! I miss my buddy and will never own another one, he’s buried in my rose bed, his name is Tank
English bulldogs are the GREATEST dogs on Earth! I'm not so sure they are actually dogs. I don't know WHAT they are but whatever they are it's amazing! If you have a bully you will laugh all day every day! They're just funny dogs. They have a sense of humor and once they learn what makes you laugh and gives you joy.....LOOK OUT! It's party time! Bullys are THE GREATEST! I Love you Bruiser Doozer and Dixie Doodle! I'll see you soon!
I was in a New Zealand antique store with my Daughter who lived there at the time. While sitting there while the owner wrapped my purchase, her Bulldog walked up to my Daughter and dropped a thick rope with a knot on one end at her feet! I told my Daughter that this full grown dog wanted her to play with it! We left so no play time…
probably should've connected the fact that they don't like to move and be active a lot with the fact that they, you know, can't fucking breathe. I believe it's a cruelty to own and or breed these.
@@lucianaromulus1408 I didn't know that, I hope more people decide to go with that breed rather than the traditional Bulldog. The skull deformation and compression of the nasal cavities is just so extreme the poor babies just can't breathe. That "cute" snorting noise they tend to make when excited or moving around is legit their equivalent to gasping for more oxygen. It's so sad :(
My buddy got one. First time it ran in his yard it tore it's acl. Thousands of dollars on surgery. It also had eye lids that curled in that would lead to eye irritation and had spend thousands more on eye lid surgery. Nothing about them is cheap. There is a reason why people are trying to return them to the healthier version know as Victorian or old English bulldogs.
We need to bring back the Olde English Bulldogge, they're much healthier than these poor guys whose health wasn't taken into account when they were made.
@dutchvanderbilt9969 they have smushy faces if that's what you mean, but not as severe as the English Bulldog. Normally they aren't bred to extremes like these modern guys.
I had two English Bullies back in my 20's and no matter how bad a mood you were in, it only took a second for them to make me smile. I loved them more than anything and more than 10 years after their passing I still miss them.
When they’re young they get around as much as almost any other dog. Sadly they’re prone to many health issues. They’re so lovable and sweet but I couldn’t own one. Love to see them out and about though. They always make me smile.
I got a English bulldog, she's the best pet I've ever had! She very lazy yet she still loves to play and go on walks. Sadly I think her time is coming, because she has stopped eating for about three days already now and she has a bit of a lump growing on her belly but my parents refuse to take her to the vet because they think there's nothing wrong with her.
Went to a dog park with my aunt and was surrounded by all these different dogs when one of these cute boys just bulldozed (pun not intended) right into me after I sat down to give all the dogs pets and scratches, I still remember all the sniffles and sneezes they gave me since they just entered the park.
If you want an English Bulldog, try to get one with a little bit of another breed in it, just so their noses aren't flat as hell and they can breathe properly
I fell in love with bulldogs when I was 6 years old, attending a summer camp that involved a lot of outdoorsy stuff. One of the counselors owned an old, female bulldog that was just an absolute angel with all the kids. She'd sit under our feet at lunch and just chill, and she always wanted to be where we were. I used to think bulldogs were mean and ugly before then, but she changed my mind completely and became one of my happiest memories from that place. I think her name was Macy, or something with an M. I can't remember at my ripe old age of 22😭
They didn't used to be lazy..they we 3 or 4 ft tall. And they've been bred into the current version. Which means they can't breathe or do strenuous exercise
English bulldogs have so much of raw "cute potato" energy wich make them utterly adorable and that's why they would be my to-go choice if I ever have to adopt a dog. Just look how cute they are !
I have a French Bulldog which is just like the English Bulldog except they are way smaller and their ears are up Also they’re way more expensive the cheap ones are 6,000
