Wow. My first time in this country & I was not expecting that. All fans together, support like no other & in the end a celebration I’ll never forget. UP THE APOEL! 🔵🟡

Crazy how such a small island country with such less population can have a better football atmosphere, fanbase and passion than Premier league and some other big leagues. This is what we call football. 🇨🇾

I'm not the Cypriot Football fans, but this country has a good passionate. APOEL had its fantastic European run back in 2011/12 season. They went all the way to the quarterfinal after beating the likes of Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Lyon, before ultimately lost to Real Madrid. Omonia, on the other hand, played the group stage of Europa League the previous season, but had an impressive results against Manchester United, where they only lost twice by 1 goal margin. The Old Trafford fixture saw Manchester United requiring a winning goal in the last minute. That same season, in the Europa League, AEK Larnaca also got monumental victory and draw vs Dynamo Kyiv and playing a draw vs Rennes away. Cypriot Football is not all about Nicosia and Limassol-based football clubs. Back in 2008, there was another big club named Anorthosis Famagusta. They became the first Cypriot clubs to play in the Champions League group stage. They had almost qualified for the KO stages, having achieved some impressive results like beating Panathinaikos 3-1, playing a draw twice vs Werder Bremen, and playing an impressive 3-3 draw and narrowly losing to Inter Milan, who won the Treble the next season after that with Jose Mourinho.

For years I have been waiting for someone to finally do a video about Cypriot football. I experienced an AEL Limassol league win when I lived there. they are so passionate and their league is incredibly competitive with 5 or 6 teams that could compete to win it every season. It would be great if someone did another video about the political history of the clubs,,,,it is truly fascinating!

The feelings were to the moon and back last night. It was a great atmosphere, and 5 years were a lot for Apoel fans to celebrate a trophy.

The title in Cyprus is not decided by goal difference, instead it is decided by head to head matches. We won two and drawn two games against aek this is why we are Champions. Amazing feeling to be champions again after 5 long years. Thank you for this amazing video. MONO APOEL

Actually, did you know that the reason why the away team has only 50 supporters in the stands is because away supporters are banned from entering the pitch with no more than 50 supporters. This ris due to a lot of riots from the hooligans, and also because of the violence that has been around, that’s how crazily passionated this sport means here, luckily its only till the end of the season!
