Welcome back to Pathways!
In this episode, I had the chance to speak to Datin Noor Azimah Rahim, the chairperson of the Parents Action Group for Education Malaysia; we had a long conversation about the English language, its importance for Malaysia, and her advocacy for the English language as one of Malaysia’s only groups representing parents in the country.
It was a long conversation during which we talked about the role of the English language within Malaysia, its benefits for the economy, the importance of language proficiency in both the tribe as well as the unexpected places, as we discussed, a generation of Malaysian students perpetually experiencing the after-effects of educational policies formed by the government of every juncture, highlighting how important it is to get this right.
During this chat, we had the opportunity to discuss many different things such as professional exams, Mahathir’s PPSMI, the good work of Sarawak and the DLP, also known as Datin's favourite topic along the way, and we're confident that you will find it insightful.
Thank you for this conversation, Datin, and look forward to catching you again a little later!
