Welcome back to Pathways!
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to speak to Ms. Emma Davidson, the past president of the Oxford and Cambridge Malaysia Society, and also the current head of sixth form of the Kolej Tuanku Jaafar, KTJ, one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the entirety of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's top feeder school for Oxford and Cambridge. also a significant feeder to top US universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and so on.
It was lovely to chat with Emma about her experience going from her early days in Bradford Grammar School over to her time at Oxford PPE, before eventually being drawn by a unique magnetic force that eventually brought her into Malaysia and away from Britain.
Malaysia is tremendously fortunate to have Ms. Davidson, who's been with us for a good number of years, contributing immensely from her time at the British Council over to KTJ and serving alongside the members of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Malaysia on things like RU-vid events where she and her committee ended up interviewing luminaries such as Professor Jomo, Khairy Jamaluddin, Elina Noor, and many others as well.
It was a tremendous pleasure to chat with Ms. Davidson about what she understands as the aims of an education and also to ultimately have a great time just chatting about the very human side of education along the way as well.
Thank you so much for the conversation, Emma! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Victor.
