Best EPP video I've seen! I'm going to buy the kit ASAP! AND....I can't wait for the Peacock kit. I'd love to do the lion in different colorways and make a quilt for my brand new grandson! Thanks so very much!

I completed my Lion project this week, I really appreciate the tip you gave, remember it's only paper. Saved me in some tight spots for sure. I'm sure it's not perfect but good for me. Also as I worked on this project I thought of all the paint by number kits my parents had bought me over the years. Never once did I ever finish one. Now I can say I have completed a paint by number with fabric, a major accomplishment for me. One proud lady here.

I've seen this pattern before on another show and I love the pattern more each time I see it. I like the way everything was explained in detail here on Man Sewing. And Rob seemed to know just what questions to ask to help us understand everything. Thanks for having her on your show Rob and thanks to Violet Craft for designing such a great project for us.

Just finished watching. I had heard of paper piecing but had never bothered to even look into what it involved as far as the sewing part. WOW! was my reaction when seen how easy it looks. Are there some kits that you use the sewing machine to put together? Will definitely check out the supplies link provided. Good part about putting a kit together is if a person does get stumped, there's this video to watch again to help a person successfully finish the project! Thanks to both.

It is not truly English traditional paper piecing if you glue paper inserts, which is problematic within itself. Tip: hand basting is very quick, requires no circular rotating table, and is totally portable. As you baste down the corners in the process (never sewing through the paper) you automatically solve the 'corner' flap problem. When sewing the pieces together whip stitch them FLAT not front sides together. In this way, the stitching threads NEVER show in the seams and the finish is incredible. Perfection IS achievable. Juxtaposing the pieces in this way makes joining large pieces into a quilt far easier to work with, in fact, quite a pleasure rather than fabric wrestling! You can also ease fussy cuts matching to perfection this way very easily. When stitched, paper removal is very quick and easy, you just lift them out to reuse them later. Choose a fabric that is easily stitched by hand as some printed fabrics can be quite tough and are better for machine stitching projects.

I am so excited. Thank you Violet. I just ordered the Lion AND the Peacock pattern. I also ordered the recommended thread and needles that were in the pattern. I ordered everything from Amazon. I tried to find the fabric and I couldn’t. I even went to the Missouri Quilt Company. I saw all the fabric and amounts that went with the Lion and couldn’t find an option to purchase the fabric. I guess I will have to go to JoAnn’s and take the pattern with recommended colors with me. I can’t wait to start. Thank you again.

I appreciate the effort that she made to explain, I love the technic , I never understood it before. My only problem is that I have lost the use of my left hand when trying to do hand sewing. I'm so sorry to hear about that. If you are interested, you could try foundation paper piecing and you can use your sewing machine to sew the pieces together. Violet and I filmed a tutorial about this last year. You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nP2FyqoXdM8.html

This is a great tutorial on EPP - love the lion and the amount of information Violet shared, so very helpful and clear. Big shout out to Rob too who asked questions and allowed us to hear the answer; so many hosts keep interjecting and speak over the information. Violet, wonder if you would think of designing a mermaid? I have a delightful grand-daughter who is on the autism spectrum and is totally in love with these and unicorns. Would love to make one to applique on to a quilt for her. Again, thanks to both of you and Hi from Dublin, Ireland.
