What a great video! Reported speech is quite a difficult grammar point to teach and learn. However, you just made it easier for us! Thank you!

Yaaa r u right , u know I bought English grammar in use by Cambridge press but still I am not able to speak reported speech at right time , but I found many videos on youtube in a story form so I started to watch all of them one by one like this video so after few days I became more comfortable while speaking If u are learning English then I can share with u my experiences or important keys factor, that may help u lot more while ur journey. Some people say gramer is not necessary to speak English but it's wrong ,grammar is important , first of all understand what whai is gramamer ? actually every language is a combination of different types situation, so grammar helps us to learn those types of situations but u don't need to copy those situation as same u as written on any English grammar book , u can customise those situation according to u!!! Nd we all have RU-vid so what we learn from any book we can immediately watch a video on RU-vid so that we can master that particular topic ,,,,,,,I am also learnings engineering it's was my experience I have observed while learnin actually I have lots of things about English but it's not possible in comment book , so plz u also shear ur experience what dificulties u r facing nd what u think about my opinion, Nd we can connect each other any social media platforms to talk, it would be good for us!!! So if u want plz give me ur whatsapp no I will join u or call u on whatsapp.

There are some examples were John is talking in the past simple that you did not convert in reported speech to past perfect. Is there a reason for this?

Yes, that was done for a reason. English is a living language, which means it is constantly evolving. In some cases, strictly adhering to the grammar rules would make the language sound unnatural in everyday speech. In such cases, we chose to use wording that most people nowadays would use.
