Hi guys, so I decided to upload this instead of waiting for the weather to get better and also I have been sick so I couldn't do any voice overs. The only missing footage I needed was top speed. Read below for more info about the speed and what updates there are for the EP-2. Don't forget to subscribe and leave feedback! Top speed: The winner here is the samebike lo26 going over 40KMPH, the engwe ep-2 is capped at 37KMPH with using motors only, keep in mind I have the 2019 version with the YL80C display and speed controller combo so the 2020 version with the M5 display might have a higher top speed compared to mine. Engwe EP-2 changes for 2020: Newer display model "M5", Front shocks now have a lock just like the Samebike LO-26. There is also a more expensive variant called EN which provides you with back suspension, hydrolic brakes and power regeneration while you ride it cost about 300-600 more based on aliexpress prices I've seen.

I've been having a lot of fun with my Engwe EP-2, but the new M5 display is not without its problems. Some people are having issues with the odometer not reading accurately (the number of miles) for instance. Also like you said my front forks have a lock on it :) Regarding the Engwe EN, it also has regenerative freewheeling and regenerates when the power isn't being used (so primarily when going down hills). It's the exact same bike as the Rattan Fat Bear Plus and is definitely the bike I wished I got because the regeneration does actually work. Cheers!

@@TeamCGS2005 would love to get my hand on one of those! :) Hopefully this was helpful anyways for people. But yeah I've heard that the M5 has some odometer issues, my bike did with the YL80C since it was set to 26inch wheels from the factory, just shows you that the sellers don't really touch the bikes too much before shipping. I'm happy enough anyways with these bikes! next step for me is getting a motorbike haha! :)

My EP 2 has regen , which is audible all the time the wheel is turning, and came with a unlocked top speed up to 45kph , a set of hydraulic brakes is about 30 quid off aliexpress to fit it.

Your top speeds are nonsense, it's kph not mph big difference. None do those speeds , 40mph lmao

Great review. Could you name the maximum seat height and maximum handle height og Samebike OL26 FT? According to the manufacturer, the maximum height has not been determined. I am 2 meters tall and I doubt if he will suit me. The seat of my everyday bike is 105 cm high and the handle is 107 cm. Regards

On the 20" fats what do you think of Mag wheels vs spoke ? Weight, strength, etc ..
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 3 года назад
Strength and weight wise its gonna vary depending on what materiasl the mag wheels are made of. Maintenance: - mag wheels will require little to no maintenance, just clean it if its dirty and make sure there are no cracks on the wheels! - spokes will need checks from time to time just to see if you got loose or broken spokes. Repair: - mag wheels im not sure if you can diy repair if cracks and bends do happen. - spokes you can easily repair and replacement.

Hey, sorry late reply! been busy! Engwe if you don't want to pedal as much and samebike if you want to pedal since its more of a traditional bike riding position.

Any problem with being pulled over? These are totally illegal on Irish roads, any advice will be appreciated as I want to buy but am unsure how often I'm gunna get stopped 🤣
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 2 года назад
never got stopped, as long as you're riding safely , within a reasonable speed and mostly pedalling, you won't be pulled over. If you're really paranoid you can always remove/disable the throttle control and limit the speed limit to 30 (if I recall its the EU speed limit for pedal assisted bikes). The throttle is the main thing that makes it illegal, pedal assisted is legal, so if you "fake" pedal you have lower chance of getting pulled over compared any other EV :)

Yes, it is possible to limit the speed :) It should have been limited by your seller though! I'll reply back with instructions when I find them again.

@JeffyTology I need a bike to commute (train + 15’ ride where I can load my bag) that I can also use off-road. Which one would you suggest?
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 3 года назад
Not sure what 15' can you clarify. In terms of loading your bag, the Engwe has a pannier rack already preinstalled when you buy it, The Samebike Lo26 doesn't you' have to find a third party one. As for getting them into a train, I haven't done so myself but I think you might have trouble fitting a fat tire if they have those tire racks, You'd probably have an easier time with the Samebike LO26. Also both bikes are pretty bulky/heavy around 30KG, I would look into something smaller like the Samebike 20LVXD30 if you want something lighter its around 17kilos. As for off-road riding? how rough are the roads? I think you samebike Lo26 would be a lot easier to use off road, since the ergonomics are the same as a mountain bike. If its just a dirt road the Engwe EP-2 should work just fine as well. Keep in mind tho that these have relatively low torque, so don't expect high performance on hills.
@federicomartelli4026
@federicomartelli4026 3 года назад
@@JeffyTology with 15’ I meant 15 minutes ride, sorry 😅 when I speak about off-road I talk about a ride in the park or in some path in the wood (easy ride though). My first option was the Samebike Lo26 because it’s more an all-around type of bike, but my concern is the portability on the train (size and weight). The 20LVXD30 concerns me when it comes to different usage other than commuting and the quality of the bike itself. What could be a compromise between the 20LVXD30 and LO26? What you think about the Fiido D2?
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 3 года назад
@@federicomartelli4026 I've seen good reviews for the Fiido D2, D2s. Looks like an all around, but it has small wheels though not sure how comfy those are. Wish I can get a sample to make a video on! haha The 20LVXD30 has some decent quality, the only concern for me was the rusting of the front fork and the lack of manual and gear switching. Its decent enough of a ride anyways and it also has a rack at the back. As for compromises, the main one is acceleration. The second I would say is the lack of control options, I couldn't find info on it for the longest time. I would say if you want the best bang for your buck I would go for the LO26, its about as portable as a normal mountain in terms of size, and you only really worry about the weight afterwards.
@federicomartelli4026
@federicomartelli4026 3 года назад
@@JeffyTology eventually I’ll go for the 20LVXD30 for me and the LO26 for my girlfriend 🤣 I read you are in Ireland as well, O was thinking to buy the bike through a bike shop in order to avail of the bike to work scheme. Have you had any experience on this matter already? I contacted bikeme.ie but they have no clue whether or not they can do it...

How do these bikes handle rainy weather?
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 4 года назад
Hi Joao, like any other bike, you got to treat it more like a motorbike since there is an external motor providing the power not just you and you be careful when you're riding and be relaxed. or do you mean water distance? I haven't had issues with riding it in the rain and water getting into the battery.
@joaofigueiredo7985
@joaofigueiredo7985 4 года назад
@@JeffyTology yeah I meant how do they handle it battery wise, with the electrical components and all that. Basically I was planning on getting the Engwe ep-2 for my daily commute to work, but living in London and knowing how the weather can get sometimes, I'm a bit hesitant to getting it because I don't want to get caught in a down pour and damage the bike beyond repair
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 4 года назад
@@joaofigueiredo7985 okay now I can give a more definitive comment, I live in Ireland myself so I'm in the same boat as you weather wise. Like the comment before I have not had trouble in water getting into the batteries got caught before in a decent amount of rain. As for the other parts like throttle, display and hub motors, no problems there as well! The only thing you would need to worry about id say is the speed controller, there is a small hole near the seat post where the wires come out of the bike from the speed controller, if you're paranoid about it plugging this up with silicon should do the trick. I think some electrical tape around the folding mechanism would also help ease your mind, if you don't plan on folding it loads :)

@@joaofigueiredo7985 if you search for Samebike LO26 and watch Michael Kinsellas videos you'd see that he's been riding his Samebike like crazy miles! It's all muddy and stuff! Hopefully that gives you more confidence in the bike since both Samebike and Engwe basically use the same type of frame and components

I wanted the same bike but it looks too bulky to store indoors. But I do like the discreet look on it . And I think it’s lighter than the Engwe or my same bike fat tire one
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 4 года назад
Its about 3-5KG lighter just because it doesn't have metal fenders, a rack, shorter neck for the handle bar and the spokes on the wheel. As for bulkiness it only really bothersome because of the none folding handlebar and its only slightly longer than the Engwe.
@mrkiller1980
@mrkiller1980 4 года назад
JeffyTology I see that bike being ridden on bike lanes in London and that granny one you bought. If I was living outside London in countryside I would easily pick the lo26.
@JeffyTology
@JeffyTology 4 года назад
@@mrkiller1980 yeah for city riding I think 20 inch foldable bikes with higher handlebars are better. I think the Samebike turbo (let's call it Samebike Turbo cause I'm not gonna spell that random as hell name they got and thr company nicknamed it that as well ) is the perfect bike for portability since it's 18kgs.
