Well...that's just crazy impressive...I have one of these canoes...ummm...if I tried this it would be called prelude to swimming!!! Fantastic skill displayed here...thanks for sharing.
Way to Go! I was surfing in my crappy fiberglass Mohawk 16' in the Shenandoah and a guy in a Dagger couldn't believe it would surf - so he got in and tried it - I like the way you controlled your descent before the surf, angling into the bigger water instead of hitting it straight on. Nice.
Great film! Too many people think it’s much harder to paddle a canoe than a kayak. It’s not. A big canoe often is heavier, and a capsize is more difficult to recover from, but that’s about it.
@@ThePursuitofPassion I once went to Algonquin Provincial Park for an internal canoe trip. At that time, I also went to the Canoe Museum in Canada. That was very fun.
Thank you for your comment. Your comment will be very encouraging. I will continue to post videos. This river is upstream of the Arakawa River in Japan. And we like canoes of traditional style very much.
@@canoeing You are welcome. It's an absolutely beautiful river. I love "prospector type" canoes as well. I have a few river canoeing videos on my page. However, nothing as nice as your little stretch of water. Are rivers like this one common in Japan? I've always wanted to travel there.
Incredible videos and talent. Is your Camper a 16 ' ? I to have a Camper and have tested it beyond flat water, but not like this . Please keep your beautiful videos coming. Thanks and blessings
I used to fish out of my open boat on the South Branch and there were a couple of times I caught a good fish at the top of a rapid and had to stand up, holding a fish and controlling myself with paddle in one arm and the pole in the other. Hardest thing I ever did.
I'm about to buy an Old Town Discovery 160k, 16ft, do you think I could paddle it solo doing this kind of thing? It's a heavier boat, almost 90 pounds, better for long tripping, but what do you think?
Since there is a keel line on the bottom, you can not expect rotation. However, it improves straightness and stability. Discovery 160K is suitable for use in large rivers and lakes and can also be rowed alone. 16 feet is ideal for loading camping equipment, but I think 90 pounds is a bit heavier. It is difficult for women to load and unload at the top of the car. Ideally 60 pounds, depending on the material of the boat.

Thank you! Start practicing poling! However, in Japan, no one enjoys poling, and there is no information or tools. Please continue to refer to your video.
