Hello. I just wanted to explain a weird situation with my lovebird, and ask what you think about it. She actually came from the window, she escaped and was shouting and flying from house to house. She started a conversation with our other lovebird. We brought the cage outside, with the bird inside it. and she came into home on top of the cage. She was either adult or close to adult when she came. We put her in a small old cage we had lying around. She became quite friendly after around 1 year. We have done this, arguably stupid, decision of using force to get her out of her cage e.g. using a soft object and forcing her to climb on top of it. We have been doing this to this day, for reasons I will explain right after. When she is outside, we got a sense of time between her poops. We held her over a suitable spot to poop so that we can clean it up more easily (most of the time we held her over a faucet). When we got her out of her cage, we would just hold her over a faucet in case she poops, as a routine thing to do. Her small cage got dirty pretty easily, and she drinks a ton of water, making her poop even more often. We would clean her cage every day. We tried to switch her to a bigger cage but she was incredibly scared of the cage and we had to put her back to the small cage. She sleeps at the bottom of her cage, and thus she learned to poop to a corner only. We were amazed when we noticed that. But she went even further, as I said, we would always take her out of her cage and take her to toilet. She started holding her poop. We noticed that she would poop incredibly much when we bring her to toilet. We started taking her to the toilet more often after we noticed that. Now she doesn't ever poop to her cage unless she has to. She can hold her poop for hours. This has been going on for 3 years. She has been healthy except two(one major and one minor) bacterial infections and one egg binding. The bacterial infection was some sort of diarrhea. I had noticed that she would poop in her cage really frequently around 3 weeks prior to the heavy symptoms like her head dropping down. The second time she started pooping in her cage, we treated her much earlier and she recovered with really minor symptoms. I don't know if this is a completely healthy relationship or not, but as you might have guessed we show incredible amounts of care to her due to those circumstances. I am personally happy with the situation.
