The chain of command for the Marine Corps ranks is divided into two groups: Enlisted Marines and Marine Officers. The majority of Marines are enlisted.
Enlisted Marines begin at the most junior ranks: private, private first class, and lance corporal. Private has a paygrade of E-1, and each rank has a corresponding paygrade from E-1 through E-9.
The next giant leap after lance corporal is to non-commissioned officer, or NCO.
The NCO ranks are comprised of corporal, then sergeant, followed by the most senior ranks in the Corps: staff NCOs. The staff NCO ranks, in order, are: staff sergeant or gunnery sergeant-and master sergeant or first sergeant. The single highest-ranking enlisted Marine is the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, who serves alongside the Commandant.
Each enlisted Marine, no matter how junior or senior, is trusted with the responsibility of ensuring the welfare of our country now and into the future.

About the United States Marine Corps:
The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.
The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.
You don’t join the Marines-you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.
Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Isn't there a joke about 3 lieutenants at a river. They find a genie. Last one wishes to be smarter do he becomes a sergeant, looks at his map and finds a crossing 200 yards up river? I can't recall the joke.
@harshbansal7982
@harshbansal7982 3 года назад
@@thes.a.s.s.1361 I think the joke was that lieutenants confront a river and have to cross it. . Then some genie appears and tells them he’ll give them something to help them cross it . First one asks for really strong arms but he drowns anyway . Then the seconds asks for a small boat but it sinks . Then the 3rd asks for a sergeant who tells him to look at his map and the lieutenant realises there’s a bridge 200 yards from here .

I understood what boot camps' goal was, and THAT is the key. I went through boot camp in 1968, and i knew we were all going to Viet Nam. This, without question, would be the most difficult time of our lives. Boot Camp got us prepared for that time. My drill instructors were the best Marines I had met throughout my enlistment. I was saddened to hear Gy Sgt Erxleben, my senior drill instructor, passed away a few years ago, and I was scared to death of him!!

"unwavering standards"? You deliberately recruit from the MOST POOR and the STUPIDEST high school students across America. and then you teach them to Murder and RAPE The 1995 Okinawa rape incident took place on September 4, 1995, when three U.S. servicemen, U.S. Navy Seaman Marcus Gill and U.S. Marines Rodrico Harp and Kendrick Ledet, who were all serving at Camp Hansen on Okinawa, rented a van and kidnapped a 12-year-old Okinawan girl. They beat her, duct-taped her eyes and mouth shut, and bound her hands. Gill and Harp then raped her, while Ledet claimed he only pretended to do so out of fear of Gill.[1] The incident led to further debate over the continued presence of U.S. forces in Japan. The offenders were tried and convicted in Japanese court by Japanese law, in accordance with the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement. The families of the defendants initially claimed that Japanese officials had racially discriminated against the men because they were all black and coerced confessions from them, but later retracted the claims. Facts: PFC - you should obtain coming out of boot camp, top bad ass will graduate LCPL, that won’t be you. By the time you finish Combat Training or your MOS, kick ass and you’ll graduate LCPL. Keep kicking ass getting more certifications and you’ll be recommended for NCO school and become a CPL. At this point, everyone knows the fastest way to rank up from here is becoming a DI, RECON, or some sort of instructor at the least. Above all, combat tours will rank you up. Staff Sergeant will be your highest rank until you learn to play politics and make the right moves. Gunnies are old for a reason and command/deserve full respect! Everything after that you won’t see much, they’re always dealing with officers. First Sergeants are cool, highly intelligent, but still tap dance higher rank officers. Don’t Fck with WOs and CWOs, they all have psychological problems. The only thing worse than all the above, WOMEN MARINES! Stay away at all costs! Even from the few cool ones. You’ve been warned!

I'm 34 now, and I've taken a few practice ASVAB's over the past few years, and I've consistently scored well over 80%. Very vindicating feeling, but I'm afraid it's probably too late for me to have a career in the military.

Learn something new every day. I never knew that Master Sergeant in the Marines was a different career path. The Army (which was my branch) has the Master Sergeant which transitions to First Sergeant. After a tour as a First Sergeant, you would transition back to Master Sergeant until either being promoted to Sergeant Major or retiring. The Army then has another Sergeant Major rank , Command Sergeant Major and then CSMA (CSM of the Army). All three Sergeant Major ranks are the same grade (E9).

@@noneone8726 Of course recruiters recruit poor/dumb people. They have nothing, when they join the military, they get a shit load of new benefits so when they hear that they want to join. And when you say they are taught to rape and murder that is false. While that may have happend you are only using that as an example of why the US military is bad cause they were service members. The military did not teach them to rape 12 year old girls while on deployment. And yea they kinda have to learn not to hesitate on pulling the trigger so they can fulfill their duty to the US and save lives. And don't blame us for wanting resources. Non-commissioned officers are enlisted, that did not go to officer candidate school, usually they joined without much college under their belt. Commissioned officers went to officer candidate school, and have at least a 4 year degree. Usually they are book smart but lack common sense. While the enlisted aren’t always book smart, but can figure just about anything out in a pinch. Black chevron mafia.

The service that places the biggest emphasis on things looking good ends up doing nothing well. Failure is acceptable, as long as the paperwork looks good. You can be a complete idiot, but as long as you look good in charlies and run fast, you'll get promoted.

I absolutely love how they downplay Master Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant. I retired as a Master Sergeant and i never had a 1st Sergeant fill in for me when i was on leave or see a Sergeant Major fill in for a Master Guns.......oh but did we fill in for them. All while still doing our MOS responsibilities as well. To say that 1stSgt and SgtMaj are more important.......you must have been a DI and in your MOS never been very good. Semper FI!
@lanceblinent7909
@lanceblinent7909 3 года назад
The reason is they can't unless the first sergeant is assign a battalion/company within his own MOS. How is a first sgt going to lead a company where he knows nothing about the MOS which the company is assigned. For example a First sgt from the infantry cannot run a chow hall.

Their is one rank left out senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff this is equivalent to Sergeant Major of the Corps except instead of reporting to the commandant of the corps SEAC reports to the Chairman of the joint chief of staff and the duties are similar except it is to represent all the enlisted personnel across all branches. one marine has held the post SgtMaj Bryan B. Battaglia from 2011-2015. Of course no marine rank insignia the rank insignia is three chevrons four rockers and the eagle from the flag of the joint chiefs of staff with a stars on each side of the eagle on the top bottom left and right. The insignia was not introduced till 2020.

TAILHOOK rapes "mission accomplished" LIE Murder their democratically elected leader then BRAG about killing the one who Retaliated Dick Cheney gets rich off DEATH of American Soldiers and you BRAG about it. no one has ever conquered Afghanistan or ever will Fuck your war for Oil and Greed and STUPIDITY
